"What were you thinking about in your head, you cunning boy? I imagine it's nothing bad, I hope," Wan Shi Tong asked wiht narrowed eyes, trying to gauge what Norrak has on his mind, but he got nothing except a slight smile on his face.
Seeing Wan Shi Tong's curiosity, Norrak couldn't help but think about whether his idea had any chance of coming true. If it did, the Fire Nation would be complete with both might and knowledge.
"I don't know if this was hopeless hoping, but Wan Shi Tong. What do you think about moving your library somewhere else?" Norrak asked wiht a hopeful glint in his eyes that Wan Shi Tong immediately recognised.
"You want me to move my library from this desert? What benefit would that bring me, except for being sought out for my knowledge by evil and manipulative humans?"
Norrak chuckled at Wan Shi Tong's words because if he was being honest, if people did know such a library with so much knowledge existed, they would definitely have bad thoughts.
But he already thought of something like that happening, which is why he even asked this question to the Spirit owl. If he still refuses, then Norrak will just let it be, since he doesn't want this treasure trove to vanish.
"Yes, I can't really refute your points, because I myself know how greedy humans can be. But you can't act as if only bad humans exist in the world," Norrak spoke up, trying to change the Owl's view. His words caused Wan Shi Tong to raise an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue his speech.
"I probably shouldn't be speaking in an educative tone to you, since who knows how many years old you are. But you know just as well as I that you don't trust humans simply because the bad outweighs the good."
"But among the many bad, there are bound to be good people. It's similar to spirits, you can't say all spirits are good, just as you can't say all spirits are bad,"
Norrak watched as Wan Shi Tong faced a shelf, his wing reaching out and taking a scroll before tossing it to him. Norrak caught the scroll, but did not open it instantly; he waited for the Spirit Owl's response.
"I can see that you are sincere in your words, and that you don't really care to use my knowledge for yourself. You are probably doing this, so if you need my knowledge, you can help your country improve... Which I am not against," Wan Shi Tong spoke with a sigh, hesitation in his eyes as he looked at Norrak before him.
"I am probably wrong in my ways, but I can't help it since almost every human only thinks of doing bad with my knowledge... Until you appeared," Wan Shi Tong looked at Norrak with appreciation.
"Is that a yes?" Norrak asked with a smile, his eyebrows raised as he watched Wan Shi Tong expectantly.
"... Alright. I will move my library into the Fire Nation, but beware that I will decide whether or not to give knowledge that your people will seek me for. And if they try to use force, I will be gone before you can blink," Wan Shi Tong finally decided, his tone firm but also wary as he spoke to Norrak.
"That's fine! I will also decree a law that people can only ask for things that do not involve violence... Though, is it okay if they ask for martial art techniques and such?" Norrak was hopeful towards the end. If the people could learn new forgotten techniques, the Fire Nation would be powerful even without Him, Azula or Zuko.
"That's fine, now go on. I already gave you the map to the Tree of Time; it should give you the shortest route," Wan Shi Tong could not help but sigh as he looked at Norrak. Never in his life had he seen such a powerful human, including the many avatars who sought him out, behave so carefree.
"Thanks! Adios meu amigo!"
Swoosh!
"Was that a new language? I will have to have him write it down when I see him," Wan Shi Tong watched as Norrak vanished with surprise, focusing on the new language he had heard from the human.
Meanwhile...
Boom!
Crack!
"Almost free! You wait, Raava! I will pay you back for my defeat last time!" Inside the hollow trunk of the Tree of Time, Vaatu spoke wiht a venomous and excited tone as cracks spread throughout the barrier containing him.
The cracks were largely spread across the entire red barrier, and it seems ready to break at the slightest touch from Vaatu. Through the large cracks in the barrier, Vaatu's energy began to leak into the surroundings.
The seeping energy attracted many spirits towards the Tree of Time, where they surrounded it in a circle, feeding and absorbing the energy, while also being corrupted into evil spirits.
Tens of Spirits crowded around, some fighting to the death and some just trying to avoid the others to absorb more energy. Vaatu, of course, knew what they were doing, but he was not mad; he was encouraged.
"The more corrupted spirits, the better. I need them to spread chaos and violence in the world after my victory over that peace-loving stingray!" Vaatu spoke to himself in delight as the crowd of corrupted spirits around him increased.
Vaatu closed his eyes, concentrating on absorbing the spiritual energy from the Harmonic Convergence, strengthening himself and allowing him to regain his strength slowly, until he breaks free.
"Not much longer, maybe a single day," Vaatu muttered.
"The dark ages will begin, starting with my freedom!"
Back with the gang. Everyone was back in the air, lying on Appa's back and conversing as they flew towards the South Pole, with Katara meditating with Raava.
Crack!
"Not bad, Katara. You can now enter the Avatar state on want instead of from rage and in death situations," Norrak watched as his pebbles of cie struck an invisible air current around Katara, turning into dust.
"But due to the severance of your connections with the hundreds of Avatars before, you do not gain their experience in bending, but only a boost in Chi and physical strength, as well as a closer connection to the elements," Norrak explained to Katara, who opened her eyes with a white glow, her curves outlined with a bluish glow.
"Norrak... I think I can finally feel the blood in the bodies of others... Though I don't think this will help me against a spirit," Katara smiled as she looked down at her palm, the sensation of blood flowing under her palm strikingly clear.
"Good, now remember, you don't need to worry about Vaatu. As long as I am here, I won't let anything happen to you or the girls. I can promise you that," Norrak sat down before Katara, reaching out to take her palm into his with a gentle smile.
"Thank you, Norrak, I mean it. Without you, I don't know what I would be doing right now," Katara smiled, the blue glow around her fading as she leaned forward, resting her head in Norrak's shoulder, her arms wrapping around his neck.
Norrak felt Katara's heat on his body. and he chuckled before wrapping his arms around his wife's waist, bringing her closer until Katara was sitting on his lap, her legs locked around his waist.
"It's alright,"
