Chapter 43 - Correcting correction

The moment I saw Caelum end his fight before anyone else, I decided it was time to take action.

I screamed at the top of my lungs for everyone to hear and act accordingly.

"LYSS, 3rd FLOOR, MEN'S BATHROOM, 5th CABIN, THE LOCKET IS THE SEALING ARTEFACT!"

At the same time, I released 9 doppelgängers to go and aide in the remaining battles, even if what they offered was mere distractions, I was sure the heirs would be able to take every advantage and even abuse it.

But the most important and delicious thing was that my gambling paid off. The spawn of correction's mana flared without control, his face crunched in visceral anger and I was swimming in pleasure.

I could smell the emotions furiously running in his blood and I knew at that moment I had already won.

With a clouded mind, the spawn of correction jumped at me without form or purpose.

My smile widened.

That's when I started pushing my real magic.

[Faker's punch]

[Faker's cut]

[Deceiver's perfume]

I saw as the perfect being started to react to my illusions, trying to correct what really wasn't there, how is skin fell to regenerate new one.

How he grew a new arm where he thought I had cut creating a weird situation where he had 2 arms coming out of his shoulder.

At this point I was laughing so hard that even the other beasts and heir couldn't help but glance my way, but when they saw what I was causing, all the beasts shrieked in horror while the heirs joined my laugh.

That was also the moment when something beautiful and strange happened.

I felt their laughter resonate with me, joining my joy in mocking how I had perfectly corrected the spawn of correction.

I felt my mana gleefully rampage everywhere, my resonance strengthening and everything I was imagining started to materialise in the shape of illusions.

An illusory spawn of correction appeared before him mocking him for having a third hand but not a third leg.

A smoking hot steak started face slapping beasts everywhere, of course without really hitting anyone, but even with that the laughter intensified.

Books started to take flight like a flock of birds relaeasing their waste on the heads of the beasts.

And lastly the two high humans appeared beside me, like protecting parents. With both proud and smug expressions, we were all looking down on the spawn of correction.

We walked towards the trembling thing that couldn't react to his own erratic reflection, I put my hand on his head and chanted for everyone to hear.

[DMS]

My green mana invaded the poor thing's brain and the perfectly blue eyes lost their shine. Then with my smile wide and voice trembling from laughter I said words nobody expected me to utter.

"Brother! You need to help me kill those wretched humans! They're too strong!!!"

The heirs' blood run cold, the students started screaming, but when the spawn of correction gently patted my shoulder and started slaughtering the beyonder beasts, they understood.

The strange spell I had chanted, the spell whose name didn't make sense at all, was a terrible curse.

I couldn't help myself. The laughter erupted from deep within my soul and everyone joined.

The heirs, the students, even the Spawn of correction was laughing with us thinking he had actually slaughtered the humans.

"Brother!! You did it!"

I snapped my fingers to remove the curse and repeated myself.

"You really did it brother! You killed every beyonder beast! [mirror of the past]"

I watched has he went through the motions of killing his own allies, how is heart broke every second that passed, how his reflection was laughing with us back at him.

When the recording ended, as if commanded by the gods, a few things happened.

The seal came undone, Lyss had succeeded.

The spawn of correction flared again ready to fight.

My [foxfire] was able to keep him down for my jian cut his head clean.

And just as instructors started to flood the training center, the human-like body found its way into my inventory.

All this situation, for how dangerous it could have been, truly was the most satisfying thing that had happened in a long while.

My clones disappeared and I made my way towards Yom.

He had a visible hard on.

"Yom, are you really that happy to see your own brother?"

"IT'S NOT LIKE THAT! THE STUPID SUCCUBUS ATTACKED ME WITH APHRODISIACS!"

He closed his legs in embarrassment and I laughed louder.

When the instructor saw the scene of tranquillity amidst the blood and gore, he felt a sense of dissonance so great it immediately caused him migraine.

"Someone… someone with a brain, please report what had happened? We found a traitor within the assistants and this is definitely not what we expected to see when the seal was lifted."

Rovan stepped forward as the de facto leader and I used the opportunity to run away towards the overly smiling Lyss that was playing with a lock.

I stretched my hand forward, clearly claiming the lock as mine.

"What?" -Lyss

"What what? The lock, gimme."

Lyss looked at me like I was stupid and my veins started bulging.

"Hell no! I was the one who disposed of it! It's mine!"

"And I was the one who found it and saved all your asses, so give it up before I take it with violence."

"You should really give it up Lyss…"

Caelum appeared beside me with a strange look on his face. Technically, the artefact should go to the artefact specialist, Lyss, but the way Crow thirsted for knowledge and how he fought with the Beyondspawn was still etched in his memories. Especially the weird reaction my mana had with their joined laughter and he suddenly remembered the words his father used to say.

* "Caelum, mana is the manifestation of our truths, our deepest desires, sometimes so deep that even we don't know them." *

And the reaction my mana had created was not blood and gore.

It was food, laughter, knowledge… and family.

Those two figures that appeared beside me… for Caelum there was no doubt whatsoever that they were my real parents, the similarities were simply too uncanny.

So he believed my heart was good at a foundation level.

"But… it was me that disposed of it! And it's me who's the real blacksmith between all of us!"

"Lord Lyss, do I look like I give a fuck about blacksmithing? It's simply too structured and boring, what I'm after is the runic formation. Once I've extracted it, you can have the damned lock back."

"But at that point there would be no value in the research!"

We were at an impasse and I was slowly but surely thinking of ways to make Lyss a cripple and be done with it, when Caelum, bless his soul, rescued the poor dwarf from doom.

"Why don't you study it together? If I heard correctly, you're already planning to study with Aurelia, I'm not sure what, but surely you can add a third person."

Lyss eyes lit up with delight, but I wasn't so convinced.

"Aurelia! Can you come here a second?"

The girl appeared like she was waiting to be called and immediately jumped into conversation.

"I also would love to study the space lock formation, it could be extremely useful for the entire humanity."

Ohhh that's how it's going to be? Fine. Bastards.

I decided to speak a little louder and embarrass the bastards.

"Very well, I'll join you two for this threesome."

Aurelia and Lyss flushed so intensely their faces became purple, Caelum was stifling a laugh and I didn't bother masking my smirk.

It was fun, interacting with these guys wasn't so bad after all, if they decided to let all that noble bullshit behind their backs at least.

I was so immersed in the thought of the research that I'd be doing I didn't even notice instructor Gerd behind my back until he spoke.

"Lord Crow Morvane, where is the body of the Beyondspawn?"

I turned coldly, even if my system called it differently, I knew what he was talking about, but since nobody had taught us anything about it yet… I decided to play innocent.

"What are you talking about? Aren't there 12 of those things right there?"

"No, those are beyonder beasts, the Beyondspawn is what you fought and killed, so where is its body?"

I looked at him in the eyes and answered without hesitation.

"In its rightful place."

"No its rightful place is in the hands of the military."

"Ha! I see, it seems you are mistaken about where we are. This is the land of Disorder. But even more importantly then what is rightfully my lab material, is where are my mana stones."

I deadpanned the last part and Gerd's face blackened.

He threw a pouch that was clearly enchanted with enhanced space at me and turned away.

"Classes dismissed for the rest of the week pending investigation, see you all on Monday. Dismissed."
