Rose
Before I even make it to my house I see the police lights. I'm running a little late. I told them I would be here sooner. However, did you see the food he made? There was no way I was passing that up. So what if I'm a little late. The only thing they're going to do is yell at me a little bit. As I pull up both of them are standing on my front porch looking pissed. Ok so i may have messed up. Sheepishly I get off and walk to them.
"Where have to be" Louise yells before I even make it to the first step.
"I told you I was going to stop in and check on Blake to make sure he was ok. It took a little longer than I thought it would. I had to change his bandages. He didn't all day. It was the same one he had on from the hospital." rolling my eyes. I go to the front door and unlock it. Before I can even step in, both stop me and yell's at the same time.
"We have to clear it first!" startled i jumped a little.
"Sorry about that, why don't you and me go wait by the car wall Louise goes inside and takes a look around?" Ted says while leading me to the cop car. Louise dost take long before he's back telling me I can get my stuff. Going in the house feels wrong for some reason. Slowly I look around. Something is very wrong. Everything looks right. Looking harder I realize stuff is moved. Only slightly like someone moved it then tried to put it back then in the same place.
"Did you move stuff when you were looking through the house?"
"No, why would I? The only thing I moved was to see if someone was hiding. I moved your clothes to one side in the closet and the shower curtain."
"Do you have a way to check for bugs?" They both turn and look at me so fast I thought they broke their necks.
"Why are you asking that?" Ted steps closer to me.
"Stuff has been moved. I'm just saying if he's been in my house there is a possibility." How did he get past my cameras? I got no notifications that something was in my yard but I knew someone was in my house messing with my stuff. Hurrying, I grab all my stuff but my under garment. I will get more. I have no idea what he may have done with them. Nope, I'm good.
"Ok I'm done lets get out of here." I yell heading straight for the door. All the food I just bought is going to have to be thrown out. I'm not eating it. Just as I make it to my ride Ted stops me.
"Do you mind if we stay and sweep the house ?" i don't see why not. Pulling my keys out I take the spare key off the ring and throw it to him.
"That's fine. Bring me the key back later when yall are done." I'm ready to get out of here. It sucks that my house doesn't feel safe anymore. That's what I'm most mad about, that was my safe place, my paradise. Now he has made it feel so bad I don't want to be there anymore. I need to put sage on my shopping list. When they get him I'm going to have to cleanse my house and yard. I need lots of sage. Heading back to main street leads me back past his house. Something in my heart pulls me to go back there. Pushing it to the side I speed up passing his house as fast as I can so I don't turn that way. Katie lives in the middle of town. At least for the next couple of days I won't have to go far to get home. When I pull up every light is on at her house. Grabbing my bag I only take two steps when the door flies open.
"What took you so long? I thought you were dead."
"You knew I had to do a few things before I came over." walking into the house I see everything is lit up. Did she think I couldn't find my way? So she decides to light the way. I can't help but to laugh.
"Well excuse me for worrying about my best friend." she mumbles mean just loud enough for me to hear it. I just shake my head. Heading to the guest room to put my stuff down. This isn't my first time staying over. When I have to work really late she lets me stay over. The room looks like she spent hours getting it ready for me.
"Hey, do you have any underwear that you haven't worn yet?" I yell so she can hear me. I can hear her in the kitchen messing with something.
"Ya i just bought a new pack you can have two. Now answer me why do you need them?" she's at the door before I can even finish putting my clothes up. I look up at her and the look she's giving me tells me I will have to tell her everything.
"Ok i will tell you everything but first I need a shower and we need wine."
"Fine but I want every detail, even about the hot guy you stayed with last night." She gives me the eyebrow wiggle. We both burst out laughing.
"Yes yes i will tell you everything." She leaves and comes back with the underwear. I take the longest shower I have ever taken. Trying to wash away all the stress and disgust I feel with everything that has happened in the last few days. Walking out I see her in the front room sitting on the floor in front of the coffee table with snacks and two full wine glasses.
"Tonight is a full bottle kinda night." She smiles at me and brings the bottle from her side and sets it on the table too.
"I did want to pressure you into drinking it all with me."
"No, I need it." I sat next to her.
"Ok start from the beginning and i do mean when you meet the hot guy to"
"His name is Blake" I laugh and take a big sip of wine. I spent the next 30 minutes telling her everything. From how I met him to how I think my stalker has been in my house.
"Ewww ya you're not wearing them. When they get him we are burning them."
"We can have a big bonfire and throw sage in and cleanse the whole yard and the ashes of them all at the same time." We both laugh.
"Now no more about that creep. Do you think Blake likes you?"
"We just meet there is no way he likes me"
"O come on he has to. He ran out of the house into danger just to protect you."
"He's a sweet guy. He would do that for any woman who came to his house needing help."
"You're just in denial. Or do you not like him but from the way you talked about him I think you do."
" you no how i feel about dating"
"It's been years. You don't know your feeling on it may have changed"
"O look at the time we have work tomorrow" I get up and start cleaning up. I need to get away from this conversation. I'm too tired for this augment again tonight. We have been having it for years now.
"Fine, I will shut up. Don't worry about cleaning up, I will do it. Go get some rest." She pushes me to my room. I feel bad about leaving it all to her. I still go into my room because I know there's no point in arguing with her. Laying in bed I try to fall asleep. My mind is running wild and I can't seem to fall asleep. It finally lands on him. He's a great cook. I don't think I would ever get tired of eating his food. Do you think if i give him grocery money he would cook for me some nights. I could just stop by his house before going home after work. It is on the way. The next time I see him. O no I forgot to text him that I got her. I jump out of bed and grab my phone I put in charge before showering. There are 7 texts and 3 missed calls. I look at the text.
[Blake] Hey, did you make it?
[Blake] are you ok?
[Blake] Please message back. I'm really worried.
[Blake] please answer the phone
[Blake] i called the none emergency number they put me trow to Ted he said you all ready left please let me no you are ok
[Blake] I went down the trail to town. Someone said they saw you drive by. Are you at your friend's house?
[Blake] call me as soon as you can.
I hurry and call him. He picks up the phone on the second ring.
