Evan Lee's POV
I take a deep breath — it's time to face my father.
The door to Chairman Evander Lee's office opens with a soft click. The familiar cold air greets me before he does. My father sits behind his massive mahogany desk, calm, composed, every inch the unshakable man the world respects… and fears.
Warmth never suited him. Sometimes I still wonder how my mother ever loved this man — how she saw something in him that I never could.
"Good morning, Dad," I say carefully.
His gaze lifts from the document he's reviewing. "Good morning," he replies, tone flat, unreadable. He gestures to the chair across from him. "Sit."
I obey, unsure why he's so calm. Usually, silence from him is more dangerous than words.
"Dad, what did you want to talk about?" I ask.
He doesn't answer right away, still scanning the file in front of him. Finally, without looking up, he says, "Evan, you ended your engagement."
