Evan Lee's —POV
The meeting room is too quiet.
I sit at the head of the table, everything arranged exactly the way it should be—except for one thing. This is a collaboration meeting. And the lunatic, Rion Vale, is nowhere in sight.
My gaze slides toward Gen. He sits calmly, unbothered. From the way his posture shifts, he already understands.
"Sir," he says softly, "Mr. Rion Vale isn't feeling well today. As Vale Corporation's head secretary, I'm attending in his place."
I nod. Arem takes the seat beside me, placing the file in front of me with quiet precision.
The projector lights up the room.
But I'm not looking at it.
My eyes linger on the file… yet my mind is circling another question.
Is he really sick? He never skips meetings. Should I… call him?
Arem's voice tugs me back.
"Sir?"
I blink. "What?"
"The presentation, sir."
"Ah." I force my eyes toward the projector, watching the screen as if my mind isn't drifting everywhere except here.
