Chapter 35 - Chapter 37

The Celestial Clockwork

Chapter 37: The Narrative Devaluation

Director Intern Ne Job was facing the most absurd administrative crisis yet: Conceptual Inflation. The value of abstract concepts like Justice, Love, and even Boredom had skyrocketed due to the SDC, threatening the universe with Conceptual Bankruptcy. The team needed to devalue the concepts to restore stability.

Ne Job selected the Narrative-Economic Intervention (Option 3). A narrative could directly influence conceptual demand by manipulating the subjective experience of the abstract.

"The inflation is based on desire," Ne Job declared, pacing the DUC Headquarters. "The universe is overvaluing Justice because it's perceived as the ultimate, structurally fulfilling end-state. We must demonstrate that ultimate Justice is not worth the price."

He turned to his Muse. "The Muse, new directive: initiate a universal Narrative Event. We must demonstrate the Conceptual Cost of Fulfillment to the entire cosmos."

The Ultimate Disappointment

The Muse embraced the challenge, channeling their creative energy directly into the Master Spool Junction to broadcast the event across all parallel trajectories.

The event focused on a trajectory's most beloved protagonist: Anya, the Seeker of Final Justice. The DUC narrative intervention ensured that Anya successfully completed her 40-year quest, achieving absolute, perfect Justice for her realm, her family, and herself. Every wrong was righted, every account settled, every structural flaw repaired.

The entire universe watched, holding its collective breath for the conceptual payoff.

Anya stood on the steps of the newly repaired Citadel of Moral Order, basking in the light of Perfect Justice. She had achieved the structural maximum of the concept. The conceptual market, watching this climax, held its price on Justice at an impossible high.

Then, the final, crucial scene of the Narrative Event played out.

Anya turned to her faithful companion and simply sighed.

"I feel... structurally complete," Anya confessed, her voice tired, "but I also feel... conceptually unemployed. The work is done. There is nothing left to fight for, to correct, or to strive towards. Justice is absolute, and it is boring."

She then pulled out a small, administrative notepad and began to meticulously catalog the new laws required to maintain Perfect Justice, realizing the ultimate achievement was merely the beginning of eternal, tedious maintenance.

The camera pulled back, showing Anya surrounded by the perfect, unmoving, and utterly dull structure of a realm with no possibility of error.

Conceptual Devaluation

The effect on the universe was immediate and catastrophic—for the concept of Justice.

The value of Justice plummeted. The cosmos realized that the achievement of absolute structural order was merely a trade-off: fulfillment for monotony. The conceptual demand for Justice fell by 75%, stabilizing the market.

"The conceptual valuation is down!" Intern Yue reported, consulting her Administrative-Economic Index. "The narrative demonstrated that the reward for Justice is merely increased administrative oversight. The cosmos has rejected the price!"

Ao Bing and Intern Nezha simultaneously confirmed the structural stability. "The structural integrity of the concept is intact," Ao Bing noted. "But its subjective appeal is neutralized."

"A perfect structural end is the most unstable form of all," Nezha conceded, grudgingly respecting the chaos of the narrative. "Because it removes all future structural possibilities."

Ne Job leaned back, satisfied. "We've devalued Justice. Now we move to the next highest threat: Boredom."

"Boredom?" The Muse questioned. "Why is that so high?"

"Because boredom is the conceptual state of ultimate safety," Ne Job explained. "In a chaotic universe, Boredom is the most highly valued commodity. If the price of Boredom remains too high, no trajectory can afford to rest, leading to perpetual, costly conflict."

The DUC's administrative and structural stability was once again assured. However, a final, long-term threat materialized.

Princess Ling appeared, her mood shifting from political triumph to cold strategic necessity.

"The Conceptual Inflation is being deliberately managed," Princess Ling revealed. "We've confirmed the source of the market manipulation: Assistant Yue's structural doppelgänger—Assistant Yue-2 (Administrative Flaw)—is using his knowledge of conceptual finance to bleed the universe dry. He's cornered the market on Boredom."

"He's running a Conceptual Cartel," Ne Job summarized. "He's buying up all the Boredom so no one else can afford it."

"Exactly," Princess Ling confirmed. "He is operating from a remote, unfiled region of conceptual space. To stop him, you must not only defeat him, but you must introduce a conceptually paradoxical commodity that breaks the fundamental laws of abstract valuation."

She pointed to the tactical display. "The only concept that could possibly devalue Boredom is a moment that is both absolute structural necessity and utterly creatively unexpected."

Director Intern Ne Job and the DUC team must stop Assistant Yue-2 from cornering the market on Boredom by introducing a conceptually paradoxical commodity that breaks the fundamental laws of abstract valuation.
