"Donphan is unable to battle. Scyther wins. Will contestant Zenjiro please release your second Pokémon?"
Zenjiro's face was dark as he took out a Poké Ball to recall Donphan. He then took out his second Pokémon.
"Go, Exeggutor!"
A white light shone from the Poké Ball, and Zenjiro's second Pokémon appeared on the field.
Exeggutor, the Coconut Pokémon.
Type: Grass / PsychicAbility: Chlorophyll Hidden Ability: Harvest Talent Grade: GoodTrainer Rank: ExperiencedDescription: Exeggutor is a tall Pokémon that closely resembles a coconut or pineapple tree, but with legs. Its body and legs, which are thick, look like a tree trunk. It has two toes on its feet, which have pale yellow pads on the bottom. Several leaves grow from the top of its body. Exeggutor has three to six round, pale yellow heads that look like coconuts. Similar to Exeggcute, each of its heads has a different facial expression.
Eichi opened his Eye of the Bug Emperor. Exeggutor had a Good Talent Grade and was in the middle stage of the Experienced rank. Eichi frowned. The Talent Grade of this Exeggutor was a bit low.
Judging by Zenjiro's family background, which could be inferred from his Donphan, a Good grade seemed unreasonable when the Donphan had an Excellent grade.
However, he had no time to ponder the matter.
"The battle resumes!"
"Exeggutor, use Egg Bomb!"
Zenjiro launched the first attack. Eggs began appearing in the grass atop Exeggutor's heads and were hurled toward Scyther.
Scyther dodged several Egg Bombs, but the ones that hit the ground exploded like bombs. Because of the sheer number, the explosions still enveloped Scyther.
Scyther immediately took some damage, and its body was covered in many new scratches.
After taking damage, Scyther's fighting spirit was ignited. It looked at Exeggutor with high morale.
Zenjiro saw that Scyther still had its ability to battle and continued to command Exeggutor to attack. "Exeggutor, continue to use Egg Bomb!"
Exeggutor wobbled and threw more Egg Bombs from its head.
"Scyther, use Agility and fly close to Exeggutor."
Scyther accelerated wildly, charging toward Exeggutor like a flash of lightning. Exeggutor still threw the Egg Bombs, but the area they landed in was too close to itself.
"Scyther, fly higher!"
Just as the Egg Bombs were about to land, Scyther quickly flew up into the sky. The Egg Bombs exploded instantly on the ground. Exeggutor was within the blast radius. Its three faces cried out in unison as the smoke from the explosion engulfed it, the sound reaching Zenjiro's ears.
"Oh no! Exeggutor, are you alright?"
When the smoke cleared, Exeggutor's figure was revealed on the field. It was covered in injuries, which seemed quite severe.
"Exeggutor, use Hypnosis!"
Exeggutor looked toward Scyther, its eyes flashing with a bright yellow light.
"Scyther, don't look into its eyes!"
It was too late. Scyther had already looked and was instantly hit by Hypnosis. Its eyes closed, and it fell asleep. Its wings stopped flapping, and it plummeted toward the ground.
This is bad, Eichi thought. On the other side, Zenjiro smiled triumphantly after seeing that Scyther was asleep.
"Now, Exeggutor, use Egg Bomb!"
As Scyther fell, Exeggutor fired Egg Bombs one after another from the grass on its head. The sleeping Scyther was unable to dodge; the Egg Bombs exploded repeatedly on its body.
The smoke from the explosions obscured everyone's vision, making it impossible for the referee to judge whether Scyther had lost the ability to battle.
When the smoke cleared, Scyther's figure was revealed. It was covered in injuries, but it had woken up from its sleep. It stood up with difficulty, its body battered and bruised, which sparked a flicker of anger in Eichi.
Zenjiro saw that Scyther still hadn't lost its ability to battle and said, unwilling to give up, "Even after all that, you still haven't lost! I must admit, your Scyther is incredibly tenacious. But it's useless. With such heavy injuries, it won't last much longer."
Scyther heard this, and its anger flared. It hadn't suffered such serious injuries in a long time. It had to avenge this.
Eichi felt Scyther's intense fighting spirit. Since that was the case, Eichi took out a remote control from his pocket and deactivated Scyther's Weighted Vest.
Scyther immediately felt a massive weight lift from its body. It felt an indescribable sense of lightness. It looked back and nodded to Eichi, who gave it an encouraging look.
Several people below the arena saw Eichi's action, especially Tetsu. He had always speculated about the vest Eichi made Beedrill wear and the ring around Scyther's waist. He was right. That really was a Weighted Vest! Tetsu realized. Then Scyther was battling them while wearing the Weighted Vest all along! That's just insane! Tetsu knew he was absolutely incapable of doing that.
With the weight removed, the battle resumed.
"Exeggutor, use Confusion!"
Exeggutor's eyes emitted a bright light. An invisible psychic force controlled Scyther's body, but Scyther struggled with great effort and broke free from the Confusion.
"Scyther, use Agility!"
Scyther flew toward Exeggutor at several times its previous speed.
"Exeggutor, use Psychic!"
Scyther reached Exeggutor, and Exeggutor fired a Psychic attack from its eyes. However, Scyther flew to the side with lightning speed. Exeggutor changed direction and fired another Psychic attack, but Scyther dodged that one as well.
Scyther constantly toyed with Exeggutor, which kept launching Psychic attacks without landing a single hit. Exeggutor was also visibly exhausted. Eichi knew Scyther was running low on stamina as well. Therefore, they needed to end the battle quickly. Now that Exeggutor was tired, Scyther launched its attack immediately.
"Scyther, use Hidden Power!"
A pillar of fire erupted from Scyther's mouth and struck Exeggutor. Since Exeggutor is Grass-type, the attack was Super Effective, and Exeggutor had very little stamina left.
"Scyther, use Air Slash to deliver the final blow!"
Scyther rapidly charged toward Exeggutor. Zenjiro saw Scyther rushing at them and thought, If it hits, we'll definitely lose. I have no choice but to use that move.
"Exeggutor, use Explosion!" Zenjiro shouted loudly.
What?
Explosion?
The spectators, including those in the seating areas, were instantly shocked. Exeggutor, seeing Scyther charging toward it, didn't hesitate and immediately activated the Explosion move.
