The sound of a jetpack echoed as it descended near Incheon Bay. Yoona's boots touched the ground, and she stood tall before the entrance of P. Pharma, one of the city's largest pharmaceutical companies. The building stretched wide, its angular frame crowned with a dome-like roof split into sharp, fan-shaped ridges pointing skyward.
Her steps carried her to the sliding doors. At once, a digital voice announced:
"Yoon Eun Hwa. Access granted."
Inside, a young man with a neat undercut and rainbow-tinted glasses sat cross-legged at the central counter. Behind him loomed a fountain statue of a tiger spewing water, while to the right, five meters away, an escalator led to the second floor reserved for staff. On the far left, two elevators gleamed.
Yoona grinned and leaned on the counter. "Nam Gi, did you change your hairstyle? Or maybe you've slimmed down?"
He scoffed, voice dripping with sass. "Oh please, Yoona. Don't butter me up. Pink hair, red lips, no wonder people mistake you for a promo model. Ugh, I'm jealous! Anyway, what's next for you and So Hyung? You're about to graduate."
"I don't know yet. First I need to finish my project, it's killing me. Too bad you're not in my department, or I'd hire you to write it for me."
"Ha! Same old Yoon. I thought your BF would've straightened you out by now."
"Come on, Nam Gi?"
He laughed. "Fine, fine. On graduation day, I'll bring my friends and we'll party with your crew. Who knows, maybe you'll finally give in to your new guy."
"Don't say that. He's cute, calm, and actually loves me. Unlike those other guys I used to chase, who acted like dogs in heat."
Nam Gi rolled his eyes. "Some' just love scoring points with women. Pretty girls are easy prey these days. I may not swing that way, but I know what it feels like when desire hits. Anyway, let's drop it this isn't the place. Mr. Park's waiting upstairs. Oh! Did you book tickets for that special concert?"
"Of course I did," she sang out. "And I booked yours too. Didn't want you to miss out, so I got us VIP seats."
Nam Gi clutched his chest dramatically. "You're too much! Thanks, gorgeous. Now hurry—Park's probably done with his meeting."
Yoona paused. "Meeting with who?" The elevator doors slid open. Out stepped a stout middle-aged Asian man in a white suit and felt hat, flanked by black-clad bodyguards.
Nam Gi gasped. "Whoa! That's Kevin Xu Wen!"
Yoona quickly snapped a photo with her orb-like camera. Xu Wen turned, smiled, and gave her a thumbs-up before striding out of the lobby.
"Catch you later," she teased, waving goodbye before heading to the elevator.
Moments later, she entered the top-floor office. "I'm here, boss!"
Behind a desk, Park sat in a navy suit, his wavy black hair slicked back, his smile warm yet commanding. The glass wall behind him reflected the skyline of Incheon.
"Good to see you, Yoon," he said. "You didn't have to come all this way. How's the jetpack? Still got all parts intact?"
"It works perfectly. But I thought meeting face-to-face was a pleasure."
"No wonder everyone admires you," Park replied.
She smirked. "You flatter me. So… why was Mr. Xu here?"
Park dabbed his forehead with a handkerchief. "Oh, just business matters."
"And the assignment?"
"Well… next Monday we're hosting a special event. An international perfume showcase. I need you to find Dr. Chan Si Hun at Saehoon Hospital on Jimjaecheon Island. He'll run one of the booths this year. Deliver this gift and get his signature. Simple task, good practice for your wings."
Yoona noticed his nervous demeanor but said nothing. "Understood!"
"Travel safe." He handed her a folder.
She tucked it away, stepped onto the balcony, and leapt. Park watched silently as her jetpack ignited, trailing cotton-candy smoke. She spun playfully in the air, pressed the red button to boost her thrusters, and soared higher. Her butterfly-shaped visor snapped into place, transforming her into a figure of dazzling speed.
"Kind of boring," she muttered inside her helmet. "Maybe I should drop in on my honey instead. I'll let him know when I arrive."
She turned her gaze toward you, grinning. "Well? What are you waiting for, let's go!"
