Chapter 216 - Chapter 218: Absurd

After entering combat mode, the Yard Divine Tree seemed to sense that danger had arrived.

The vines around it began to tremble, and sharp spikes formed from natural energy gradually emerged from those complex branches.

The wooden walls surrounding the vast space were covered in dark green weeds.

In the sky, bright green leaves flickered and slowly drifted down, sticking to the walls embedded with grass.

Several terrifying auras spread out from the thick wooden walls. The grass began to shake loose, and leaves flew everywhere.

Green light fused into the walls, and a figure slowly revealed itself from within the lush growth.

That monster was entirely green, its whole body wrapped in soul-like luminous green leaves, the patterns clearly visible. Only its eyes shone with a white light.

In its hands, it held a circular blade. At the center of the blade was a horrifying eye, staring at the intruders inside the divine tree.

[LV45]

[Green Vine Guard]

Viktor glanced at the monster, his heart showing no reaction.

Its appearance meant that the divine tree's heart had realized it was in danger.

The Yard Divine Tree itself had little offensive power, but it possessed extremely disgusting defensive mechanisms.

It would summon monsters of the same level based on the number of people present.

So when facing the Yard Divine Tree, even when forming a team, one had to consider the number of people, to avoid summoning too many monsters.

However, Viktor already had a way to deal with this.

He mobilized the power of the Wood Calamity within his body. Green patterns gradually gained the upper hand and began spreading across his entire coat.

The wild grass beneath his feet slowly withered, replaced by green buds pushing up from the soil.

Breaking through the damp black earth, they bent and twisted as they propped themselves up.

Those green shoots broke through their shells, and the sprouts visibly grew thicker. Lush branches extended outward, and dense leaves gradually appeared.

The tree kept growing until it surged into the upper layers of the entire space, only then slowly stopping.

But immediately after, flower buds began growing wildly at the base of the tree, climbing up along its thick branches.

Green vines trailing behind the two buds carved deep grooves into the sturdy trunk as they continued upward toward the crown.

The buds grew larger and taller, until they were fully hanging from the massive tree's branches.

As if something had forced them open, the flowers suddenly burst into bloom.

Several green monsters erupted from within, carrying sharp mouthparts or sturdy shells, facing off against the monsters summoned by the divine tree's heart.

The buds in the canopy never paused, opening and closing repeatedly. Batch after batch of monsters forced their way out and joined the fight.

The heart of the Yard Divine Tree refused to be outdone. Sensing danger, its beating grew faster.

On the green walls, countless Green Vine Guards wielding blades kept appearing.

The Green Vine Guards continuously hurled their blades, cutting those smaller monsters in half at the waist.

Then they mobilized the leaves on their bodies, whipping up storms that scattered the charging monsters all at once.

Viktor kept his hands in his pockets. Even though the monsters he had summoned were being suppressed, he remained calm.

"The Yard Divine Tree has been sustained by generations of elven offerings. Generations of refinement are enough to purify its natural energy to the utmost purity."

So Viktor needed to first consume part of its energy.

By using its summoning mechanism.

The more monsters Viktor summoned, the harder it would be for the Yard Divine Tree to focus on him.

It would need to continuously summon the same number of guards to ensure its own safety.

Very soon, several enormous man-eating flowers suddenly burst out from beneath the soil.

They broke through the ground and swallowed countless Green Vine Guards in one gulp, thick juices exploding inside their floral maws.

Each time a Green Vine Guard was destroyed, the Yard Divine Tree would summon another identical guard.

Its energy seemed endless.

The heart beat powerfully.

Thump! Thump!

Only that level 45 Green Vine Guard had yet to act.

It had been summoned based on Viktor's level, and its enemy was Viktor.

But Viktor did not move, and the Yard Divine Tree found it hard to classify Viktor as an enemy.

The powerful calamity energy wrapped around Viktor's body made the divine tree unable to sense him as a human.

The heart thumped away, simply because it sensed danger and thus summoned those guards.

Watching the Yard Divine Tree's heart beating, an interesting thought rose in Viktor's mind.

"Vega, how does your mana compare to it?"

"You want me to compare power with it? Hahahaha."

Hearing Viktor's question, Vega laughed wickedly.

The next second, a terrifying black wind swept through the high canopy, completely engulfing Vega.

The crow's shadow was stretched extremely long, until the darkness completely covered the entire space, climbing over the densely packed sharp branches.

Even the beating heart flickered with green light under the pitch-black darkness.

Its originally sharp and sinister voice became deep and chaotic, like demonic sounds echoing from the void, ethereal and extremely frightening.

"Viktor, I never thought you'd actually compare a god to a tree."

"How could I possibly lose?"

Viktor kept his hands in his pockets. His calm voice sounded leisurely.

"That's all I needed to hear."

In an instant, the eyes of both man and bird glowed blue, and a subtle connection was formed.

They intertwined and linked together, establishing a bridge of mana.

[Mana: 9999999/9999999]

At that moment, overwhelming mana surged violently from Viktor's body.

Under the pressure of the powerful wind, his coat whipped madly. The gale was like a long whip, violently dragging all the branches into extreme bends, as if they were about to snap.

Viktor reached up and stroked his chin, thinking.

"Which one should I use?"

In the end, he made his decision.

He lowered his gaze and glanced at his mana.

[8999999/9999999]

[7999999/9999999]

Vega sensed something was wrong. Feeling his body grow weaker, he abruptly looked at Viktor.

"Wait, Viktor, what are you doing?!"

In just a few seconds, the mana had dropped by a huge amount.

Viktor glanced at his mana.

The rate of consumption was extremely fast.

But all of this was within his expectations.

The vast sea of mana was no longer restrained by him. It burst free and spread madly in all directions.

The dense blue aura even took on a physical form, becoming a tangible ocean that swallowed everything around it.

The terrifyingly dense mana even made the massive heart feel pressure, its beating becoming hurried and oppressed.

At last, it sensed danger from Viktor. The level 45 Green Vine Guard finally moved.

Under this vast sea of mana, it couldn't advance even a single step. Even if it forced itself forward, the next second it would be completely blown away by the terrifying mana crashing into it.

The Green Vine Guard could only spin the blade in its hand. Terrifying green energy gradually wrapped around the blade, spinning at high speed.

Ring-shaped blades of glowing green light began to rotate rapidly.

It hurled the blade. The ring blades pierced through the thick sea of mana, and several green streaks of light struggled as they curled toward Viktor.

But just as they were about to touch Viktor, this simple attack shattered instantly.

Surrounded by this vast mana, Viktor had the best protection.

In an instant, enormous waves rolled up from the sea, swallowing together all the monsters born from the huge flower buds.

The mana on Viktor's body continued to pour out endlessly, like a massive floodgate. The surface of the mana ocean kept rising.

Mana wrapped around the entire Yard Divine Tree, even gushing out from its countless complex branches.

It was like a real ocean eroding the inside of the Yard Divine Tree, overflowing outward.

The blue ocean surged violently out from openings in the divine tree. Blue mana fell toward the ground, coiling around the tree.

Terrifying mana spread along the divine tree for hundreds of miles, submerging everything.

Below the divine tree, Vinia and Cocotte clearly sensed something and lifted their heads at the same time.

Vinia's expression became extremely grave.

She watched as the blue mana ocean smashed down from the sky, splashing waves ten meters high, then slowly dispersing.

Seeing this scene, Vinia stepped back several paces, her hand gripping the staff trembling uneasily.

"The divine tree… why is it like this? What on earth is happening?"

Cocotte, however, narrowed her eyes, thoroughly enjoying this overwhelming mana.

"Oh my, no matter when it is, this feeling always comes back."

"This amount of mana is so strong it doesn't resemble a mage at all."

Vinia suddenly turned around to face Cocotte and shouted, "Cocotte, tell me, what does Clavenna really mean?!"

She was still trapped by the question of Leon's surname.

The Yard Divine Tree had never granted any elf the surname "Clavenna."

There was no elf with the surname Clavenna.

And now, seeing Cocotte clearly knowing something, an extremely ominous feeling rose in Vinia's heart.

The divine tree's abnormality might be related to Clavenna.

Hearing Vinia's words, Cocotte crossed her arms and turned her head.

"Clavenna? Vinia, sometimes I really should suggest you take a trip to the human world."

"If you went to the human world, you'd understand a lot."

Vinia didn't believe Cocotte's words. Hugging her staff, she spoke arrogantly, "I am the most noble Elven High Priestess. Everything I have was bestowed by the Yard Divine Tree. How could I, like you, forget the tree's nurturing and run away from the Elven Forest?"

Cocotte glanced at her helplessly and sighed, "I never admitted that the divine tree raised me."

"Enough of this, Cocotte. Tell me, what does Clavenna represent?!"

Listening to her furious shout, Cocotte smiled faintly.

"Clavenna represents a family."

"Its head is my boss."

Cocotte looked at Vinia with pity, as if sighing, her tone calm and indifferent.

"A bastard mage who will absolutely never stand by and do nothing when it comes to his family and subordinates."
