Chapter 87 - A Winter’s Playdate

I smiled, quickly putting on my clothes. We layered up quickly—thermal coats, scarves wrapped tight, gloves tugged on, boots zipped and laced. He handed me my hat without being asked, fingers brushing my temple briefly as he adjusted it.

I pretended not to notice how natural that felt.

The moment we stepped outside, the cold rushed in, sharp and bracing. Snow crunched beneath our boots as we walked, the morning light pale and clean, the sky stretched wide and endless above us.

We didn't go far.

A small local shop sat at the corner of the street, its windows fogged with warmth, a wooden sign creaking gently in the breeze. Inside, the air smelled rich and comforting.

We took a small table by the window.

"Trust me," Su Ye said, scanning the handwritten menu. "This place is good."

I raised an eyebrow. "Since when are you an expert?"

"Since I decided to bring my wife on this honeymoon."

I snorted, but let him order anyway.
