Chapter 73 - The Shocking reveal

"What? Are you out of your mind, Officer?" Suho's voice cracked like thunder. "Do you even understand who you're accusing?"

Anger burned through him so fast it felt electric.

Officer Park didn't flinch. "We have evidence, Mr. Kim. That's why we're here." He stepped forward and reached for Hauen, slipping cold metal around her wrist.

But Suho reacted like someone had touched his heartbeat.

He yanked her hands away from the cuffs, shielding her with his entire body. "No. You're not taking her anywhere." His voice shook with fury. "You've misunderstood something. Verify your evidence again, Officer, or I'll report you to every higher official."

Hauen stood behind him, trembling. Her breath was thin, her fingers cold, her mind unable to catch up with what was happening.

Officer Park exhaled, tension lining his face. "Mr. Kim… we understand your situation. But we're here because we have multiple pieces of evidence. Let us do our job."

"No." Suho's voice broke. "Hauen can't do something like that. She's my wife… my everything. She stood by me when I was falling apart. She saved me again and again." His eyes shimmered. "Please check whatever you have. There has to be a mistake. Some, some misinformation."

He pulled her behind him even more, as if he could hide her inside his bones.

Officer Park looked at him, something heavy and regretful darkening his face.

"Mr. Kim…" He paused, gathering himself, then spoke slowly. "We caught the culprit who attacked you two at Gangnam Street. And he confessed… that Mrs. Kim Hauen gave him the contract to kill you."

The air went silent. Suho's breath stopped. Hauen's lips parted in absolute shock.

"And not only that," Park continued, voice low. "Your major accident… was also orchestrated by Mrs. Kim, along with the poisoned water bottle incident. She planned every attempt. And your brother-in-law, Kang Hyunwoo, helped her. He is under police custody and confessed to everything."

The floor felt like it had disappeared under Suho. His mind spun. His ears rang. Every word from Officer Kim felt unreal, cutting through him one by one. His knees weakened. And beside him, Hauen could only stare, just as shocked, just as shaken.

He stared at Park, but the words didn't feel real.

Hyunwoo. Hauen. Murder attempts. Confessions. Nothing made sense. Everything spun.

"No…" Hauen whispered, shaking her head violently. "I didn't do anything… They're lying… I didn't, Suho, you know that. You know me."

Her voice cracked.

"Mrs. Kim," Park said gently, "prove yourself in court. For now… let us do our job." He clasped the cuffs around her wrists before Suho could snap out of the shock.

Suho stood frozen. Tears fell silently, slipping down his cheeks without permission. His body wasn't responding. His voice wasn't forming. His mind felt punched into another dimension.

Two officers held Hauen by her arms and dragged her toward the door.

"Suho…" she cried, reaching out for him even though she couldn't move. But he didn't hear her. His mind was stuck in the ringing silence of disbelief.

"Suho!" she cried again, louder, desperate, her voice tearing itself apart. Something in him cracked open.

His head snapped up, eyes searching, finding her being pulled away, her wrists bound, her hair messy, her face streaked with tears.

"Hauen…" he breathed, a broken whisper. His legs finally responded, burning with the urge to run.

"Hauena…!" He ran.

He burst out of the penthouse, but the police car door slammed shut. Her face vanished behind the tinted glass. And the car jerked forward.

"No—no—no—" he sprinted, but the gates opened, the car sped out, and her voice echoed one last, agonizing time.

"SUHO!" her voice echoed one last time before disappearing.

"Hauena!" His legs gave out.

He crashed onto his knees at the entrance, screaming her name until his throat tore. Tears streamed down, hot and unstoppable.

Mr. Lee had just arrived from outside and froze at the sight of him collapsing.

"Sir.... sir! Are you alright?" he ran to him, horrified.

Suho grabbed his shirt with trembling hands. "Hauen… They took my Hauenie…" His breath broke, sobs shaking him.

"Lee… take me to her. Take me to her right now. They can't take her away from me. Take me to her!"

"Sir…" Lee was stunned, trying to hold him steady. "What happened—"

"They took her to the police station, you bastard!" Suho screamed in pain and fury. "Drive! Take me to her now!"

"Yes, sir!" Lee wrapped an arm around him, helping his trembling body stand.

He guided him to the car and practically carried him inside. And he drove. Fast. Straight to the police station.

Police station

The police station buzzed with light and restless footsteps, but the moment Suho stormed in, everything stilled as if the air itself held its breath.

"Hauen!" His voice thundered across the room. Officers looked up. Pens froze mid-air. Even the ticking wall clock felt like it stuttered.

Mr. Lee hurried behind him, breathless and frightened.

A soft, broken whisper drifted from the holding cells. "Suho…"

His head snapped toward the sound. He ran, desperate, but two officers stepped in front of him, blocking his path.

"Move, officer," he growled, voice low enough to send shivers through the room. "Mind your actions before touching me."

The officer flinched at the tone, taking half a step back.

Officer Park rushed forward, worry crossing his face. "Mr. Kim. Please. Calm down and sit. Let's talk. You need to understand—"

Suho's eyes glistened, burning with disbelief and grief. "Understand?" His voice cracked. "You're accusing my wife of trying to kill me. You expect me to sit?"

Park lowered his tone. "We're doing our duty, Mr. Kim. Mrs. Kim is accused of multiple attempted murder cases. We have to keep her in custody for investigation. Please cooperate."

"You're lying!" Suho roared. "Falsely accusing my wife. Show me the evidence. Right now. Show me what you think you have."

"Mr. Kim." Park's voice hardened. "Lower your voice. This is a police station. We're here to protect you. So please cooperate, or you'll make things harder."

Suho looked ready to tear through anyone standing between him and Hauen.

Mr. Lee gripped his arm tightly. "Sir… please. Not like this. If you want to save ma'am, you need to stay calm. Think. Don't lose control now."

Before Suho could answer, loud hurried footsteps filled the entrance. And suddenly, the entire Kim family and Kang family stormed into the police station.

"What is happening here? Why did you arrest our daughter-in-law?" Haraboji demanded."Why are our children being arrested?" Mr. Kang added, voice shaking.

Officer Park took a long breath, overwhelmed by the families crowding the room. "Mr. Kim, please sit down," he said. "We have evidence that Mrs. Kim Hauen and Kang Hyunwoo attempted to harm Mr. Kim Suho multiple times. We're questioning them right now, and Kang Hyunwoo has already confessed."

The room erupted in shocked gasps. "No… There has to be some mistake. My children would never do such a thing. We're a family," Mrs. Kang cried, her voice breaking.

Officer Park sighed, sounding tired but firm. "Sir, ma'am… we're just doing our job. If you want to speak for them, please come to court on Monday. Until then, let us finish the investigation. Please don't interfere."

"Watch your tone, officer. You're speaking to a highly influential family," Haraboji growled. "You arrested our daughter-in-law without proper reason. What evidence do you have? On what grounds are you keeping her in custody?"

"Mr. Kim," the officer replied calmly, "if you want to ask anything, bring your lawyer. We don't handle these discussions out here. No matter who it is, the rules are the same." With that, he walked back into his cabin.

"I'll call my lawyer. Let's see then," Haraboji muttered, anger simmering beneath his words.
