Chapter 263 - Chapter 264: The Blunt Brooch

Chapter 264: The Blunt Brooch

"What kind of curse do you think could cause such a result?"

"The soul..." Sean responded.

"So remain vigilant, my apprentice. Magic is vast and dangerous. The more brilliant the genius, the easier it is to go astray. Because the more magical knowledge one acquires, the more one becomes aware of the profundity of magic.

"If you wish to learn Soul Transfiguration, you must at least reach the Expert level in Transfiguration. Although not yet at the Professor level, it is difficult enough. At the same time, mastering an Animagus form will greatly help you understand the secrets of Soul Transfiguration."

Professor Terra left the partitioned area; she had gone to "secure" some relevant books.

She left Sean alone, who recorded all the Professor's words in his notes and pondered them carefully.

Professor Terra's explanation had unraveled many of Sean's doubts.

Completing the Animagus transformation had now become his priority.

The Professor had said that a wizard might possess more than one Revenant...

Just as he stepped out of the partition, Sean heard the Professor arguing with the witch from Uagadou.

"Master Terra! You know Uagadou's secret manuals are strictly forbidden from being shared with outsiders!" The brown-skinned Latina witch sounded quite heated.

"Even if I exchange some of my quota with you?"

Master Terra seemed to be doing something she was very good at; her tone was casual yet determined to get her way.

The brown-skinned Latina witch's breathing quickened.

Terra knew the significance of the Fairy Tale Biscuits to them, which was why she offered a bargaining chip they would find extremely difficult to refuse.

Few European wizards could retain their consciousness during transformation, but for Uagadou wizards skilled in Soul Transfiguration, the Fairy Tale Biscuits were akin to miracles.

"How many?" she asked instinctively, then quickly shook her head. "Terra, as a Uagadou wizard, you never consider Uagadou's interests—you actually tried to trick me into handing over the research notes on Uagadou's Soul Transfiguration! That represents the efforts of countless generations of Uagadou wizards!"

"How about doubling it?"

Professor Terra whispered like a devil.

"You... don't... don't even think about it!"

The brown-skinned Latina witch ultimately resisted the temptation.

"Alright, then the deal is off. I thought you would be happy to let Green take a look..."

Just as Professor Terra turned her head, she was grabbed.

"My dear senior, you should have told me earlier—"

The brown-skinned Latina witch's irritable expression suddenly turned amiable.

For that Hermes?

She wished she could tie him up and drag him to Uagadou to study right now!

Leaving aside the fact that he had independently walked a path perfectly suited for Uagadou wizards, his identity alone was enough to earn trust.

He was the Lifetime Honorary Professor of Uagadou, her senior Terra's only apprentice.

"I recall you saying this represents the efforts of countless generations of Uagadou wizards..." Professor Terra said.

"Terra—you're too much!"

The brown-skinned Latina witch stamped her foot in frustration again.

And so, Professor Terra "secured" some treasured books from Uagadou School of Magic for Sean.

"Abigail, remember to bring the books next time," Professor Terra reminded the witch named Abigail as she walked out of the shop.

"Don't worry about it. But I warn you, Soul Transfiguration is extremely dangerous. You, a wizard who left years ago, do you still possess the skill you once had?"

Abigail's face grew solemn.

"Oh, are you implying?"

"I'd be happy to do it for you..."

"Heh—"

Compared to the Latina witch shivering silently at the shop entrance, the enthusiasm of the wizards inside the shop was running high.

Mrs. Weasley held Mr. Weasley's hand:

"Arthur, I really can't believe it. They actually invited me too—this must all be because of you, dear."

Mrs. Weasley was beaming. She had been reading Witch Weekly just this morning, never expecting that a short while later she would be standing inside the mysterious alchemical workshop mentioned in the reports.

"This isn't my doing. Let me see, another hundred Galleons saved."

Mr. Weasley, that is, Arthur, took out two boxes of the exquisite Bowtruckle series with great relief.

Two purchases had saved him a full two hundred Galleons. Now he wouldn't have to worry about the exhausted Floo powder or his youngest daughter Ginny's school supplies.

"The Ministry gave an extra two hundred Galleons for the procurement funds. It's all thanks to that good boy, Green..."

While he was sighing with emotion, Professor McGonagall entered the Fairy Tale Workshop from the entrance.

Originally, she and a certain old alchemist kept out of each other's way, but now that the other party was outside the shop, and greetings had been exchanged, it was only natural for her to come in and take a look.

She looked at the young wizard who seemed to be daydreaming, then at the alchemical creations selling for thousands of Galleons, and inexplicably thought of him staring seriously at price lists in Diagon Alley, calculating every Knut.

"Hmm—my boy, it looks like you've become a wealthy man?"

She was very gratified, even cracking a joke.

"McGonagall... Professor, very glad to see you," the brooch in front of Sean said. "You're right, I seem to have a lot of Galleons now, but that isn't the reason I've become wealthy. True wealth isn't in a vault, but..."

Sean touched the brooch, stopping the sentence. His green eyes held something deeper, like a burning volcano hidden beneath a calm sea.

Minerva McGonagall hadn't expected such an answer. She paused slightly, inexplicably feeling a prickle in her nose.

Suddenly, she thought that perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing if the storm required for the next step of the Animagus transformation came a little later...

"The Ministry gave an extra two hundred Galleons for the procurement funds. It's all thanks to that good boy, Green..."

The shop was still filled with low murmurs, but Mr. Weasley's words drifted to her ears, and she easily deduced what had happened.

"The Weasleys are all excellent wizards. Well done, my boy."

She was always good at offering encouragement.

"I... only did something insignificant."

Sean followed Professor McGonagall's gaze and saw the joyful smiles of the Weasley couple.

So he, too, slowly raised the corners of his mouth.

Spoken from the heart, huh...

Professor McGonagall's gaze rested gently on the young wizard. It was easy for a wizard to obtain powerful talent, but rare for a wizard to possess both powerful talent and a great character.

She didn't think she had done much; fate's favor had simply led her to that place to bring back the seed she deemed worthy of guarding for a lifetime.

Barren soil often grows stubborn seeds that head in the wrong direction.

Because when suffering grants a person a resilient character, it always adds arrogance, conceit, and resentment as tests.

And what it ultimately seeks to achieve is compassion.
