Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Departure to Valkham

Accompanied by a tingling sensation, Adrian felt as if some changes were happening to his body.

Focusing his attention on the information panel, Adrian saw the upgraded High-Pressure Acid Burst.

High-Pressure Acid Burst — Instantly sprays a large amount of acid. Longer range! Faster speed! Wider area!

Adrian found an excuse to go to the restroom, temporarily leaving Fang and Luis , and went to a distant spot, turning his back to the two.

Adrian extended his right hand towards a boulder ten meters away.

"High-Pressure Acid Burst, activate!"

A human head-sized acid orb condensed in front of Adrian 's right hand, then shot out at an extremely fast speed.

Splat!

After the acid orb hit the boulder, it splattered over a large area.

All the covered areas emitted sizzling sounds, and the surface of the rock was immediately corroded away.

And that wasn't all!

To Adrian 's surprise, five more human head-sized acid orbs flew out consecutively.

The boulder, over a meter tall, was corroded into a pitted, uneven mess within a few seconds!

"Awesome!"

Adrian rubbed his hands excitedly.

Not only did the power increase, but the quantity also increased.

It transformed from a single-target attack directly into an area-of-effect attack!

"With this, I can completely confront Harry and his five men head-on without relying on Summons!"

If it weren't for the skill's increased mana cost to 20 points after upgrading, he could only fire two shots at full mana.

Adrian even felt like he could go find a Short Axe Goblin for a 1v1 duel between men.

"Unfortunately, mana is a big problem."

Adrian sighed.

He remembered that Priest Henry once said that Adrian 's magic power was very low.

Only slightly higher than an ordinary person's.

"I wonder if there's a way to increase my mana. Otherwise, even if I have a bunch of powerful skills in the future, if I can't cast them due to lack of mana, it'll be no different from not having learned them at all."

Adrian thought to himself as he returned to Fang and the other man.

After dealing with the Slime hides, Adrian and the two men returned to Guangyue Tavern, called for the six women, and went to a tailor shop to buy two changes of clothes for everyone.

Nine people, eighteen sets of clothes, cost a full eighteen silver coins!

This was even with a bulk purchase discount from the owner.

"Such expensive clothes!"

When paying, Fang's hands were trembling.

The three of them had spent an entire day on the prairie, earning eleven silver coins.

This efficiency in making money was definitely top-notch in Gruer Town.

But they didn't expect that just getting two sets of clothes for everyone would cost eighteen silver coins!

Adrian was already mentally prepared for this, as he had bought clothes before.

He patted Fang's shoulder and smiled, "Don't feel bad, these are necessities. We can't let everyone keep wearing their old ragged clothes, can we?"

A group of women immediately chimed in, "Exactly, exactly, clothes are necessities!"

It wasn't that they didn't want to save money, but rather that the clothes they were wearing were no longer wearable.

Except for Lia and Lora, everyone else was basically wearing torn clothes.

Moreover, Adrian also bought clothes for Lia and the other woman.

Originally, Lia was sulking because Adrian didn't take her to hunt Slimes.

But when it came to buying clothes, she immediately cast those thoughts aside and joined the others in picking out outfits.

Everyone returned to Guangyue Tavern and ordered food.

"Alright, everyone, get a good rest after dinner tonight. We're entering the city tomorrow!"

Everyone: "Oh~!"

...

As the sun Ruth above the horizon, the Gruer Town caravan had already assembled in the town center, ready to depart at any moment.

Adrian and his group also arrived at the caravan early.

In addition to the merchants from within the town, there were also two unfamiliar Guards accompanying them.

Because the distance to Valkam was far, and it was early summer, the caravan had to depart at sunrise and could only barely reach Valkam by nearly sunset.

Wild beasts and monsters roamed the wilderness at night, and even with Professionals protecting them, there was still a high risk to life.

Therefore, Gruer Town's caravan would not camp in the wilderness.

They usually arrived in Valkam on the same day.

However, a quarter of an hour had passed since sunrise, and the caravan still hadn't departed.

Some merchants in the group were already getting anxious.

Adrian and his group didn't know what was happening, so they could only wait patiently on the side.

After a while, Town Chief Liya, with a worried expression and a large belly, walked to the front of the caravan and gave the order to depart.

Including Adrian 's nine, the caravan totaled over thirty people.

The group drove their carriages, slowly leaving Gruer Town.

Due to the rough and uneven road, the carriages' speed was not fast.

They hadn't gone far when Adrian saw Old John walking towards him.

"What's wrong, Uncle John?" Adrian jumped down from the carriage and went to meet him.

Old John glanced back at the Town Chief in the center of the caravan and whispered to Adrian , "Town Chief Liya told me that he was originally supposed to go to Valkam with Harry today, but for some reason, Harry didn't show up today, and he couldn't be contacted at all.

You've made an enemy of Harry, and I'm worried he might try to deal with you.

You must be careful on the way, and whatever you do, don't fall behind!"

Adrian couldn't help but smile in his heart when he heard Old John's concern.

When he went to the prairie yesterday, Adrian specifically went to the location where he fought Harry.

Piles of Slimes had already gathered there.

As for Harry and his men's bodies... not even a trace was left.

"Okay, Uncle, I'll be careful."

Although he knew that Harry couldn't pose a danger to him, Adrian still nodded with a "worried" expression.

He had to keep up appearances.

After all, Harry had a Level 10 older brother!

Adrian didn't want the other party to trace it back to him.

When Adrian returned to the carriage where everyone was riding, Fang immediately asked, "What happened?"

Adrian said nonchalantly, "It seems like because Harry and his men couldn't be contacted, our caravan was delayed in departing."

"Harry?!"

Upon hearing that name, everyone except Megan and the two others, whose expressions remained unchanged, was startled.

Harry had a conflict with Adrian .

He himself was a Level 4 Trainee Warrior, and his older brother was a Level 10 Captain of the Bloodscar Mercenary Group.

Given his personality, if they encountered him on this trip to Valkam, there would definitely be trouble.

Lia looked at Adrian , bit her lip, and whispered, "Adrian , it's all my fault!"

"And mine!" Lora said, lowering her head.

Adrian waved his hand and instructed everyone, "The purpose of our trip is, first, to become Professionals; second, to establish an Adventurers' Guild; and third, to heal my broken finger.

Regarding Harry's matter, everyone doesn't need to worry, I will handle it."

Perhaps it was due to the confidence conveyed in Adrian 's voice, everyone chose to trust Adrian and stopped discussing the matter.

The journey was long, and the carriage was too bumpy.

They hadn't gone far when many people jumped off the carriage and chose to walk — after all, the carriage wasn't much faster than walking.

Along the way, Adrian and his group saw the vast prairie full of Slimes, and also the endless Forbidden Forest.

They even encountered a few Slimes along their route, which had escaped from either the prairie or the forest.

However, these Slimes were easily dealt with by the Guards and did not cause any trouble for the caravan.

The journey was uneventful.

Except for noon, when the caravan stopped, the merchants ate some dry rations, and the horses rested for a bit, the caravan kept moving forward.

Finally, at dusk, Adrian looked ahead and saw the outline of Valkam.
