INT. FOREST ENTRANCE - EVENING, NOVEMBER 4, 2025
The sun had set, the moon now high in the sky. Shining light down on what would've been a very dark, probably miserable time traversing the woods. Blake had made sure to park the SWAT vehicles a little way back so they could approach the cabin in secret. Not wanting to give Stolas(at least that's what we think his name is) a chance to run.
Gabriel seeing the cabin about fifty feet in front of them, he put his hand up to halt the group. Under the cover of darkness, Gabriel, Blake and the group of officers they had with them stopped. Deciding to make a quick check over any equipment. Wanting to make sure they caught this guy who has been terrorizing the city. .
Gabriel's hands shook, his eyes were looking around the clearing as looked at the officers standing in front of him. The tension in the air was so thick Gabriel could cut it with a knife. Sweat began forming down the back of his neck, his foot taping on the ground repeatedly.
In the back of Gabriel's mind was the doubt, no more like the overwhelming guilt he had from Friday. The police officers that were under his command had died on his watch besides Nadia's friend Alex, which in itself was more luck than anything else.
Rayen, after the bird lady, gave Nadia and Gabriel the information on Stolas. Gabriel scrambled to make use of the information. The Church was in a period of recruitment and getting help from other factions. When Grace attacked the headquarters, she really did massacre everyone who's capable of fighting.
Luckily, Blake could scrap together the fifteen officers Gabriel saw in front of them. Though Gabriel doesn't want to know what he did to convince them. Not Blake can tell them we're going to go capture a leader of demons.
Gabriel still just has a bad feeling about everything, as if Grace set all of this up. Maybe it's just him overthinking, but everything is just falling into line conveniently. Good news out of everything, Nadia, spent all Monday finding out information on the owner of the cabin.
Low and behold, another connection to Blake. Apparently, his now-deceased partner once owned the cabin, and the land was held in trust until his son grew up. We ended up finding a death record for the child. Now, if the partner had another one child, Gabriel doesn't know.
It's just the inconsistencies, along with everything else in this case, that make for a bad time for Gabriel. A small tap on his shoulder made Gabriel jump slightly. Doing his best to hide his reaction, he looked at the hand, tracing it back to a worried look on Blake's face.
"Hey, you're looking a little tense there, Rook, are you okay?", Blake asked, much to Gabriel's shock. Blake saw the look on Gabriel's face, and lowered his hand from his shoulder. "I don't like that look on your face."
"Honestly, I'm mostly just shocked", replied Gabriel honestly.
Blake ran his fingers through his hair, as he took a second to respond. "Listen, I do care about you and others around me."
Gabriel glanced around, seeing the other officers distracted, he lowered his voice. "Is this your way of hitting on me Blake, because if so then I'd be happy to turn you down," he joked.
Blake didn't hesitate to slap Gabriel in the back of the head. "Can you not joke around at a time like this", He sighed, his tone sounding tired.
"Yeah, yeah I was just trying to lighten the mood a little.". Gabriel replied as he rubbed the back of his head. "Also did you have to hit me so hard."
"That wasn't even a hard hit, mostly a love tap if anything."
"Ahh so you are hitting on me."
"I will actually punch you in the back of the head if you keep it up", Blake growled holding his fist.
Gabriel held his hands up defensively in front of himself. "Hey, no need for anymore violence"
"Tch, then stop being a smartass."
"Huh, I didn't know my ass was smart, thanks for telling me."
"Rook, I'm not afford to fight you in front of everyone," Blake threatened.
"Ugh, fine, I'll stop."
"Thank you."
The small smirk that was on Gabriel's face as he turned to face the cabin. "I'll admit Blake, I'm worried about this operation.", He admitted, pausing to see if Blake was going to reply. When no words came forth, Gabriel continued on talking. "I just feel like we're being set up for something."
After finishing his sentence, the clearing grew quiet, the only thing that could be heard was the shifting of the men behind Gabriel. Fall's cold wind flowing through the area, gently blowing the leaves with it.
"I can't say I disagree with you Rook.", Blake spoke up, his tone sounding different, unsettling. "I wish we had more time to prepare, or even gather information, yet I know this might be the only shot we might have at this guy."
"I mean how much do we even know about this guy?"Gabriel asked.
"Oh that is the million dollar question, isn't it, how much do you really know about me.", A deep, silk voice with a slight Southern drawl interrupted the duo's conversation. Gabriel slowly turned around to see a man around his height, wearing the same red cloak seen on previous people they had fought.
Gabriel had to hold back the bile waiting to spill from his lips, in the gloved hang of the man was one of the heads of the officers. Blood from dripping from the officer's neck, plopping to the ground. "Mr. Gabriel, why are you looking so tense, haven't you been waiting for him for a while?", The man said, moving the head's lips with his hand.
The man stopped moving the lips with his hand, now nodding his own head as if agreeing with himself. "You're right, Mr.Head he has been looking for me. Now he's standing there, shaking in his boots.", The man mocked. Bring his head closer to the pretending to listen to words coming out of its mouth before tossing the head off his shoulder. "Mr.head you can't say such words. Sorry for that folks. He seems to be a bit of a blabbermouth."
Blake stepped forward, his watch glowing brightly as he stared down the man. "I presume you're Stolas then?"
"In the flesh", Stolas replied, doing a small bow before straightening. "I've been wanting to meet the two of you."
"Oh geez, I feel so flattered.", Gabriel spoke up, his lips turning downwards.
"I mean, you should not catch my attention. Also, not many people can kill my mean.", Stolas stated in a joking tone that he was disappearing. His eyes swept across the duo, mainly staring at Blake. "I've been wanting to meet you for a very long time, Blake. Sorry, it's Detective Blake now, my apologies."
"So I've noticed you could've just sent me a postcard, hell, even a letter would've worked.", Blake listed his nostrils flaring as he stared down Stolas. "You then went and killed some of my friends, threatening my life, and the life of my partner here."
"Strange you care about your partner now, what about your last one. What was his name hmmm" Stolas thought out loud, tapping. "Right wasn't his name was Benjamin. Officer Benjamin. What a shame what happened."
Gabriel watched as Blake's hands began to clench. Wanting to stop Blake from lashing out, Gabriel stamped forward. Pulling out his fire arm he aimed it at Stolas. "You have the right to remain silent.", he started
"Anything you say can and will be used as evidence against you in the court of law.", Stolas interrupted, jumping lightly from foot to foot. "Can we skip all the bullshit, we both know I'm going to resist arrest. So let's get to the fun part already."
"I thought you would never ask!"Blake growled as he charged forward. Reaching Stolas quickly, tried punching him in the face. Stolas had a relaxed look on his face as he dodged out of the way.
Stolas nonchalantly put his hands in his pockets as dodged every single one of Blake's attacks. "It's always the weakest dogs who have the loudest barks", Stolas mocked as he circled out of the way of a wild haymaker Blake tried to throw.
Blake overextended, allowing Stolas to capitalize and easily push him off balance. Blake ended up falling face first in the blood from the other officers. Gabriel watched as Blake pushed himself up to one knee. His body shook as the watch on his right hand glowed a bright light.
"Even if my body breaks, I will bring you to justice." Blake threatened, finally standing, his head lowered to the ground. "You wanted a fight, you wanted my attention, then I'll give you everything you're been asking for!"
