Chapter 19 - A ONCE PEACFUL NIGHT

Shut the fucking arrows' he said in his mind.

The ground rocked as the hord of demons approached, mindlessly swinging their claws and talons, with their primordial death desires that filled the air.

"Holldd!"

the vice captain ordered, her voice unshaken by what was before her.

The platoon of archers lined up in a row of two behind her, they stood composed with their arrows as fit as a fiddle.

Peter on the other hand wasn't so composed. His grip fastened on the hilt of his sword as though he was trying to squeeze the life out of it. The only reason he stood still was the fear of what will happen if he drew any attention to himself.

"Loose!" the vice-captain voice finally rang, and with it a barrage of arrows rose to the sky like a plague, threatening to block off the moon. The horde of demons were immediately battered by thousands of arrows which fell a good number of them but that didn't seem to stop them.

The Archers immediately shuffled.

"Loose!" The vice captain ordered, this time with a hand raised to the heavens. A second round of arrows rose to the sky but unlike the first the arrows were covered in golden hews.

"The heavens whip. " James whispered, as the arrows lit up the night sky sending crackles through the air on it's descent to the ground.

An explosion quickly rocked the earth.

A cry of pain echoed in the enemies camp, which brought momentary relief to Peter, who had unknowingly let loose his grip on his sword.

"Ready yourselves Knights of Odin and tonight, will be ours!"

The Commander's voice sprung everyone into action, and together the sound of blades drawn from their sheath rang through the battle field.

Peter pulled his blade and held onto it with both hands. James on the other hand swung his from left to right to loosen his wrist. "COME ON!" he repeated to himself before taking the standard pose.

"Peter" James called out

"Huh?"

"Don't die brother." his said with his face dead serious.

"You to brother."

From the vail of black smoke, came dashing hundred of demons who had survived the Heavens Whip, however everyone was prepared for it and as expected it came as a ragging thunder.

"CHARGE!"

With a loud battle cry, the soldiers ran towards the demons.

What could have been a once peaceful night quickly turned to chaos as sword and claw clashed together.

Peter found himself faced with a hediuos Demon, it towered over him like a gorilla and swung at him with his blade like claws.

Peter quickly raised his sword to defend himself from the beast claws. As his sword clashed with the demon's claws he found out he had made a mistake.

The Demon held his sword like a hook and immediately spat acid to his face. Instinctively he evaded by moving his head to the left allowing the acid to narrowly miss his face, caving the ground behind him.

He quickly drew out his dagger from his waist. Cutting out the demon's hand which held tight to his sword.

The demon screamed as an excruciating pain spread across his body, his hand was cut of, not just by any blade but with a holy blade.

Seeing how drowned In pain the demon was, Peter tightened the grip on his sword, with a fierce and determined look on his face, he made a swift horizontal swing with his blade, separating the demon's head from his neck. But before he could move another demon dropped on him from the top of a nearby tree, pinning him to ground, attempting to bit off his neck.

Peter struggled to move away form the grip of the demon but he couldn't. Just then a blade pierced through the Damon's head, spilling blood all over Peter's face. Disgusted, he puched the demon to the side.

"You're a new recruit right? Stay focused." the killer of the demon said, offering Peter his hand. But before he could grab onto his hand, the soldier got sucked into the ground, blood spilling out from the hole he was sucked into.

"Nooo." another soldier shouted jumping into the hole. Few minutes later he came out, his face covered with blood, dragging the body of the demon that killed his friend.

He wasn't even given the time to mourn his friend, as another demon with wings jerked him off the ground. Struggling with the demon in midair an arrow pierced into the demon's head and they crashed into the ground.

Ambrose sat on his horse back with his vice captain standing beside him as they watched the battle.

"There here." the vice captain alerted Ambrose.

"I know…I can sense them." he said, climbing of his horse.

"There here." the vice captain alerted Ambrose.

"I know…I can sense them." he said, climbing off his horse.

Deep in the forest they sensed an immense aura coming towards them.

"Let's kill them before the others sense the aura." Ambrose proposed, as he shot up like a shooting star.

Assigning another Person to take charge of the battle. The vice captain quickly ran after the captain.

They both landed deep into the forest, waiting patiently for the aura they had sensed to arrive.

The vice captain quickly unsheathed her sword as two Demons on horseback slowly walked out of the darkness.

"Take a deep breath. I won't let you die." the captain assured her, noticing the look on her face.

With the assurance, she tried to imitate the captain's cold expression which was still hidden under the mask.

The demons quickly stopped their horse on Seeing the captain and vice captain, slowly a smile crept to their face.

"We got them." one of them said, smiling.

Just then Ambrose felt his heart drop to his stomach. He felt something he had never felt before and it was heading towards the soldiers that were assigned to him.

"Don't ignore us." one of the demons said, as he appeared in front of the captain, his finger aiming for his head.

At the last second the captain turned, grabbing the demon's hand. He tore it off, separating it from his body, at the same time delivering a kick to its stomach, sending him flying.

The demon still wore the annoying smile on his face, as though he felt no pain. still in mid air, another arm instantly popped out.

Landing on a tree, he bounced back at the captain.

The second demon coming down from his horse, ran towards the captain as well, his finger greasing the ground as he went.

"Step back a little." the captain directed his vice, as he removed his white mask, allowing it to vanish in midair, his green eyes glistening.
