"What does that mean?" Sera asked.
He reached over, his hand settling on her thigh—warm, heavy, unmistakably possessive.
"It means you belong to me," he said.
Heat bloomed where his hand rested, spreading slowly, deliciously. But she lifted her chin, refusing to be swept away.
"Do you belong to me too?"
He turned his head toward her briefly before focusing back on the road, a smile tugging at his lips.
"Yes," he said simply. "I belong to you."
Sera smiled and turned to look out the window, watching sunlight flicker through the trees. He's mine, she thought.
And once again, her thoughts drifted forward—to that night, to the quiet of the house when the world fell away and it would just be the two of them. Just skin and breath and everything unsaid pressing between them.
"Did you get the… uhm… uh…" she stammered, trailing off, mortified.
"The condoms?"
She nodded quickly, cheeks burning. "Mm-hmm."
