"You seem to be quite interested in the girl," she noted. "In the time we've been speaking, you've talked more about Sera than your own daughter."
"It's not intentional," he said slowly. "There's just something… something familiar about her. Like an echo I can't quite place." He hesitated, then added, "She says her mother was Brianna Hart. Nadine's sister."
"Yes," Claudia said with a sigh. "A shame. Both sisters are dead now."
Charles's eyes darkened. "Any idea who her father is?"
Claudia shook her head. "I didn't even know she existed until she walked through these doors a few weeks ago. Fully grown."
Charles hummed under his breath, thoughtful. "Hmm," he said finally, rising to his feet. "Well, I'd better get going. Please extend my apologies to the alpha. It will not happen again."
"I'm sure it won't," Claudia replied with a knowing smile, escorting him toward the door.
