Ella made a loud animalistic cry in horror, as she watched the board members leave one by one.
"No-No—No!" she wailed, her voice echoing through the now half-empty room.
Jeremy ran his hand through his hair, pacing like a caged animal.
His face was pale and his jaw tightly clenched, as a bead of sweat was rolling down his temple.
"Stop crying!" he snapped at Ella under his breath. "You're making it worse."
I stared at them still wearing the facade on my face-the trembling lower lip, the swollen eyes, the quiet devastation of a fiancée whose world had just shattered.
