Chapter 209 - Fugaku’s Tragic Fate

Cloud Lightning Gorge.

Yuzuru Uchiha and Fugaku stood side by side.

Obito Uchiha stood in front of them, his eyes unfocused and vacant.

"Yuzuru, do you think Obito can successfully awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan?" Fugaku couldn't help but ask.

Compared to Shisui, who had risen to fame at a young age, Obito's displayed talent was clearly lacking.

Especially when it came to intelligence, he often gave people the feeling that something was missing.

Could someone like him really awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan?

"Fugaku, the Uchiha bloodline limit isn't judged purely by talent," Yuzuru said calmly.

"The purer the heart, the more capable one is of experiencing pain others can hardly imagine."

"Obito will succeed. Don't worry."

In the original timeline, Obito had jumped straight from a two-tomoe Sharingan to the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Now, he already possessed a three-tomoe Sharingan, and his body had matured to its peak.

Once subjected to a strong enough emotional shock, awakening the Mangekyō shouldn't be particularly difficult.

After hearing Yuzuru's words, Fugaku nodded thoughtfully and then asked, "Then… should we let Itachi try as well?"

"Not yet," Yuzuru shook his head. "Experiences in the genjutsu world still affect reality. Developing the bloodline limit too deeply, too early, can have negative effects on the body."

"In the future, experimental subjects should be adult clan members whose minds and bodies have fully matured."

"I understand."

As the two were talking, a terrifying surge of Dōjutsu Power suddenly erupted from Obito.

His originally pitch-black eyes instantly transformed into three-tomoe Sharingan. Then, the three tomoe began spinning rapidly, gradually merging together to form an entirely new pattern.

"A world like this… I refuse to accept it!!!"

The moment the Mangekyō Sharingan appeared, Obito threw his head back and roared.

His aura began to rise without restraint.

To prevent Obito from grabbing a blade and slashing him like Shisui once had, Fugaku immediately retreated behind Yuzuru.

The next second, Obito panted heavily and abruptly fixed his gaze on Yuzuru and Fugaku.

Unlike before, the ferocity and cruelty in his eyes now sent a chill through anyone who met his gaze.

"Where… is this?"

After a moment, Obito finally came back to his senses.

He staggered over to Yuzuru and cautiously grabbed his arm.

Feeling the warmth of his body, Obito murmured, "Brother Yuzuru… you're not dead?"

He looked around.

There were no towering flames, no desperate screams for help.

Cloud Lightning Gorge was peaceful, the air filled with the fresh scent of moisture mixed with fragrant grass.

Obito slapped his own face hard. "I'm not dreaming, am I?"

Yuzuru smiled and shook his head. "Obito, no matter what you just experienced, that all happened only in the genjutsu world."

"You're back in reality now."

After hearing Yuzuru's explanation, Obito froze for a moment. Then his mouth trembled, and two clear streams of tears immediately rolled down his cheeks.

"Brother Yuzuru, it's really great that you're alive! Do you have any idea how much I suffered in that world?!"

In this world, the Uchiha clan had always lived peacefully under Yuzuru's protection.

Obito, in particular, had followed Yuzuru since childhood and had never truly experienced hardship.

In the genjutsu world, burdened with Yuzuru's trust, he had been forced to bury all his emotions deep inside.

Now, standing before Yuzuru, he finally couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out crying with a loud wail.

Yuzuru didn't stop him. Only after Obito had vented for a while did he ask curiously, "Obito, what happened in the genjutsu world?"

At that, Obito spoke with lingering fear. "Everyone died. You all died."

"Brother Yuzuru died. Senior Fugaku and Shisui died too. The Third Raikage died. A and Killer B died. Guy, Kakashi… all of them died."

Hearing this, Yuzuru couldn't help but show a sympathetic expression.

Good grief. That was a complete wipeout.

Even worse than what Shisui had gone through.

At least Shisui had thought he'd traveled to a parallel world and hadn't felt much attachment to the people there.

But Obito had believed all of it was real.

Thinking of this, Yuzuru turned slightly and pointed at Fugaku. "Obito, go beat him up properly. He's the one who used genjutsu on you. Vent all your pent-up resentment."

Then he added to Fugaku, "Don't fight back."

If Obito didn't release it properly, even experiences from the genjutsu world could leave lingering negative effects.

Obito immediately nodded and charged straight at Fugaku, the culprit.

Fugaku originally planned to endure it, but after taking several punches from Obito, he realized that if he didn't run, he'd be beaten to death.

So Cloud Lightning Gorge soon played host to a chaotic scene of one chasing and the other fleeing.

After more than two hours of nonstop fighting, Obito finally stopped, panting heavily.

Fugaku, wearing a miserable expression, said, "Yuzuru… I won't end up getting beaten every time in the future, will I?"

Yuzuru patted Fugaku on the shoulder solemnly. "Fugaku, everything is for the sake of the Uchiha."

Fugaku choked on his words and could only silently accept reality.

After venting all the resentment in his heart, Obito asked in confusion, "Brother Yuzuru, didn't you say you'd help me awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan?"

Yuzuru casually tossed him a mirror. "Take a look at your own eyes."

Obito glanced at Yuzuru suspiciously, then his mouth dropped wide open.

"This pattern… I-I-I awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan?!"

"I get it now! That genjutsu world was special training to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan!"

Hearing this, Yuzuru raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Obito, figuring it out this easily doesn't really fit your 'second wise one' image."

"Second wise one? What kind of nonsense is that?"

Obito muttered, his eyes never leaving the mirror in his hands.

As expected of the Mangekyō Sharingan—it was just too cool.

When Kakashi sees this, he'd probably be so shocked he wouldn't be able to speak.

Next time they sparred, he'd have Guy and Kakashi come at him together. Only that would be worthy of his noble status as a Mangekyō Sharingan wielder.

Oh right. When he went hiking with the grandmas this weekend, he could casually show off these eyes. They'd definitely surround him with endless questions.

Hehehe…

Seeing the creepy grin on Obito's face, Yuzuru finally let go of his lingering worries.

Obito was still Obito. As long as he hadn't gone dark, everything was fine.

Putting his own emotions aside, Yuzuru asked curiously, "Obito, what ability does your Mangekyō Sharingan have?"
