Maybe her stare was too obvious. Rhett seemed to sense it and lifted his gaze. "Finished your shower?"
He acted like that phone call had never happened.
Kelsey tugged at the corner of her mouth, the smile shallow and cold.
Rhett could see the sarcasm written all over her face, and his eyes darkened.
When she walked closer, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his lap, tilting her face up to his. "Why were you looking at me like that?"
Kelsey just stared back, like she was trying to see right through him. "No reason. I was just thinking about how bad my taste used to be."
The man's eyes narrowed dangerously.
Her words were clearly meant to provoke him, but for some reason, he couldn't summon any real anger.
Instead, he found himself gently rubbing his thumb over her lips. "Do you know what you're supposed to do now?"
Kelsey closed her eyes.
