Kelsey slowly tightened her grip on the doorframe and shook her head. "I didn't hear anything."
But one thing was crystal clear to her now: Rhett had dirt on someone.
And that someone was his own father.
Whatever secret they shared, it had both father and son in a chokehold.
Rhett didn't believe her.
She'd probably heard something. But she didn't want to get dragged in, so she was playing dumb.
He also knew that even if she'd listened to the whole thing, she wouldn't have pieced together the full picture. It didn't matter.
Without another word, he walked over, scooped her up, and lifted her into his arms.
Kelsey felt a rush of weightlessness and let out a small gasp, her hands instinctively flying to his shoulders. "What are you doing?"
"You seem bored. Let's find something… fun to do."
Kelsey didn't know what he meant by "fun," but every instinct screamed it wasn't good.
