Without hesitation, Kelsey set her teacup down and walked over to the old piano. She sat down carefully.
Compared to the exquisite, museum-quality instruments displayed outside, this one looked… shabby.
Well-loved, but worn.
Kelsey gently placed her hands on the keys and pressed one.
The sound was off. Sharply, unmistakably out of tune.
She frowned slightly but said nothing. She began to play a simple, familiar tune: "The Entertainer."
It didn't sound pleasant. The pitch was all wrong, throwing the whole cheerful melody into discord.
Halfway through, the old man cut her off. "Rhett told me you were a piano student. How is it you can't even play a simple piece like this properly?"
"I'm sorry," Kelsey said, her lips barely moving. "My skills are… rusty."
