Elise lunged forward, trying to get past him. "I have to kill him! He shouldn't exist… Kill him!"
Her eyes were bloodshot, wild.
Richard planted himself firmly in her path. "That's enough! Get ahold of yourself! That's your son!"
Elise clawed at his face, her nails scratching his skin. "He's NOT! He's not mine!"
"Open your eyes and look at him! He's the child you carried for ten months!" Richard roared, his own composure cracking. "Even if you've lost your mind, there's a line! He is a Clark!"
"…Yes." Elise's frenzied rage suddenly ebbed, replaced by something colder.
More terrifying. A chilling, broken smile stretched across her lips. "Odell is a Clark child. Of course he is."
She took a slow, deliberate step toward Richard.
He looked into her eyes and seemed to understand. A cold dread washed over him. He began to back away.
His face, though aged, still held traces of the handsome man he'd been. Even now, he could attract plenty of admirers.
