Orochimaru's defection was the most significant event of Konoha Year 52. The only other notable incident was the birth of the future Fifth Kazekage, Gaara — though that had nothing to do with Rokuro. A mere One-Tails jinchūriki wasn't enough to pique his interest.
The next major event wouldn't occur until Konoha Year 54 — the kidnapping of Hinata. That meant Rokuro had two full years, the period he had meticulously planned as his rapid growth phase.
The next morning, after sending Uchiha Kei off to school, Rokuro didn't head for the Forest of Death to train. He had decided to adjust his priorities — shifting his focus from combat training to the study and development of medical ninjutsu and forbidden techniques.
As for basic training, he resolved to dedicate only three hours a day to it. Any more would just waste time and lower efficiency.
Back home, he took out the Scroll of Seals he'd stolen from Hiruzen Sarutobi's residence. Despite its reputation for containing every jutsu and forbidden technique of Konoha, Rokuro soon discovered that claim was... a bit exaggerated.
For instance, neither Izanami nor Izanagi, the secret arts of the Uchiha, were recorded there — meaning the unique techniques of major clans were also absent. After all, clans that relied on secret arts for survival, like the Ino–Shika–Chō trio, would never hand over their most vital techniques, no matter how loyal they seemed to the Hokage.
While clan secrets were missing, the Scroll did contain a complete set of medical ninjutsu: Healing Jutsu, Regeneration Technique, Mystic Palm, Extraction Healing, and even Regenerative Rebirth — all meticulously documented.
Of course, the Byakugou Seal — Tsunade's original creation — was nowhere to be found. Not even Uchiha Madara had seen that technique; naturally, it wouldn't appear in the Scroll.
Rokuro copied down every medical jutsu, then tapped his finger against the table, deep in thought.
"With my photographic memory, learning the fundamentals of medical science shouldn't be a problem. Add in some support from my ninja tools, and I won't need to spend years practicing medical ninjutsu. If I apply myself, I should easily reach a competent level — maybe not Tsunade's, but at least equal to Shizune's."
"Once I've mastered the basics, I can combine them with Orochimaru's body-modification research to begin Project Uchiha Bloodline Purification."
He paused, his mind shifting to another concern.
"But before that… I need to develop a new jutsu to offset the loss caused by the Nine-Tails' self-destruction."
Rokuro's earlier victories — defeating Hiruzen and killing Kakuzu — were possible only because of two powerful Rinnegan-based techniques: Shinra Tensei and Banshō Ten'in.
Though he could replicate these jutsu using specialized ninja tools, the chakra cost was tremendous. When he had the Nine-Tails as a living battery, it wasn't an issue — he could unleash those techniques freely. But now that the Nine-Tails had self-destructed and its remaining chakra was fading, every use brought him closer to depletion.
He needed a new trump card. Fast.
"If it's going to be a trump card, it has to be something capable of annihilating anyone below Kage-level — and without guzzling chakra like those flashy elemental jutsu. Fire Dragon Bullet, Water Dragon Bullet… all useless except for looking pretty."
"So… what fits that description? A Kage-slaying, low-cost jutsu… Of course — the Flying Thunder God."
He already knew the technique — the Fourth Hokage's legendary signature move. He had even used it before. But his neural reflexes and dynamic vision still lagged behind Minato's, meaning his Flying Thunder God lacked that deadly precision.
"Two years… I should be able to evolve my Sharingan to three tomoe. With that dynamic vision, combined with enhanced Lightning Release Chakra Mode, I could match Minato's level. And if I integrate ninja tools into the technique's activation… I might even surpass him."
Rokuro smirked. The thought of being on par with the man once praised as Konoha's Yellow Flash was satisfying — but not enough. Having once tasted the overwhelming power of a "Pain-tier" opponent, merely equaling Minato no longer impressed him.
"Sage Mode can dramatically amplify one's power — it's a necessary step from Kage-level to the Six Paths realm. But it requires an immense chakra reserve. Forget me, even a prodigy like Itachi couldn't handle that. The only way to force it would be like Kabuto — merging cells from powerful beings. Until I finish perfecting my body modifications, that's out of the question."
That left only one viable path.
"If I want to become an overwhelming force within two years… I'll have to refine the Flying Thunder God."
He analyzed it systematically.
"The strongest space-time jutsu in Naruto are two: Obito's Kamui and Sasuke's Amenotejikara."
Kamui was a Mangekyō-exclusive ability — impossible to replicate without stealing Kakashi's eye. Amenotejikara, however… that one intrigued him.
"Theoretically, Amenotejikara's mechanism is just instantaneous teleportation paired with positional exchange — basically the same as teleportation, but with a bonus of forced displacement. That's why it's so broken."
But recreating the full technique was nearly impossible. He'd need to observe Six Paths Sasuke up close to even attempt a copy.
"The forced-displacement feature is too chakra-heavy, even if I try to simulate it using Banshō Ten'in. Not even Sasuke could spam it — every use practically drained him. Without even Mangekyō-level chakra, I can forget it."
"However… pure teleportation — that is within reach."
His plan was to upgrade the Flying Thunder God itself. The original version required pre-placed space-time markers, which was its main limitation. Once an opponent understood that, they could anticipate and counter.
That's why the Fourth Hokage's mastery of it surpassed Tobirama's — Minato's reflexes and vision were simply better, allowing more creative applications.
"But even Minato's version still needed those seals. That's a weakness. If I can remove that requirement and make the teleportation free-form — a true flash without markers — it would be perfect. And actually… I've already done it."
Using Konoha's sensory network as an anchor, Rokuro could already teleport anywhere within the village without placing a single mark — genuine unrestricted instantaneous movement.
"Following that line of thought… if I can craft a ninja tool that mimics Konoha's sensory barrier, and combine it with the Flying Thunder God, I'll have a weapon capable of slaughtering anyone below Kage-level — maybe even Kage themselves."
