Chapter 62 - Chapter 58 - Possession

*Continuation If Flashback*

Jay-Jay's POV

The night still clung to my skin.

Not the cold—no.

Something warmer.

Something softer.

Something that still felt like him.

We walked back from the quiet corner we had escaped to.

The bonfire glow had faded behind us, replaced by scattered lights and distant laughter, but my world—

Still hadn't caught up.

Because my fingers were still intertwined with his.

Because his warmth was still wrapped around me like he never let go.

Because his last kiss?

Still lingered.

"Don't stare like that."

My voice came out softer than I intended.

Almost… careful.

He didn't look away.

Of course he didn't.

"Like what?"

I glanced at him briefly—and instantly regretted it.

That look.

That calm.

That dangerous calm.

"Like you're planning something."

A pause.

Then—

His lips curved slightly.

Not a smile.

Something worse.

"I always am."

My heart did that annoying thing again.

The one where it forgets how to behave.

"Should I be concerned?"

He leaned slightly closer.

Close enough that I could feel his breath near my ear.

"You should always be concerned around me."

I swallowed.

"You sound like a threat."

"I am."

A beat.

"But only to people who aren't you."

God.

He says things like that so casually.

Like he doesn't realize what they do to me.

Or maybe—

He does.

We stepped back into the group.

Noise.

Energy.

People.

Reality.

But something had shifted.

Not visibly.

Not loudly.

But I could feel it.

He didn't let go of my hand.

And somehow—

That felt like a statement.

"Wow," Eunice muttered dramatically the second she saw us. "Look who decided to return from their romantic side quest."

I rolled my eyes.

"Relax."

Dane glanced between us once.

Then smirked.

"You're glowing."

"I am not glowing."

"You are."

"I'm just—"

"—in love?" Eunice cut in instantly.

"EUNICE—"

Keifer didn't even hesitate.

"Correct."

I turned to him so fast I almost tripped.

"Stop agreeing with everything!"

"I only agree with facts."

"You're insufferable."

"And you still chose me."

"…unfortunately."

"Liar."

Before I could respond—

A voice cut through the space.

Calm.

Controlled.

Too controlled.

"You left mid-activity."

I didn't even need to turn.

I knew.

Of course I knew.

Seraphina.

I sighed internally before facing her.

She stood there like she had stepped out of a different world.

Perfect posture.

Perfect expression.

Perfect everything.

Annoying.

"Didn't realize you were tracking me," I replied flatly.

Her gaze didn't waver.

"I track what matters."

I smiled.

Sweet.

Dangerous.

"Then improve your priorities."

Silence.

Immediate.

Sharp.

Dane leaned slightly toward Eunice.

"Oh no."

Eunice whispered back—

"Oh yes."

Seraphina tilted her head slightly.

Studying me.

Analyzing.

Like I was some kind of… problem to solve.

"You're emotional."

I blinked once.

Then smiled wider.

"You're boring."

A pause.

Then—

"I'm composed."

"You're replaceable."

Silence dropped.

Not light.

Not casual.

Heavy.

Even the background noise felt distant.

Muted.

For a second—

No one spoke.

Then—

I felt it.

A shift beside me.

Keifer.

Still.

Quiet.

Watching.

And when I glanced at him—

That smirk.

That slight smirk.

Oh.

Oh, he was enjoying this.

"You're not stopping this?" I muttered under my breath.

His voice came low.

Too calm.

"Why would I?"

I stared at him.

"You're unbelievable."

"I know."

"You're letting me fight her?"

"I'm letting you win."

I choked.

"Excuse me?"

He leaned closer again.

Voice softer.

"But if you lose, I step in."

"I won't lose."

"I know."

God.

This man.

Before I could say anything else—

Another voice entered.

"…Still loud, I see."

Everything—

Stopped.

My body froze before my brain caught up.

That voice.

That tone.

That familiarity—

I turned slowly.

And there he was.

Shun Takahashi.

Standing like nothing had changed.

Like time hadn't passed.

Like the past wasn't standing right between us.

"…Shun?"

He looked exactly the same.

Calm.

Polished.

Controlled.

But there was something different too.

Something sharper.

Something more… intentional.

"You're alive."

The words slipped out before I could stop them.

He huffed a quiet breath.

"Barely. Your boyfriend had strong opinions."

My eyes flicked instantly to Keifer.

He hadn't moved.

Not even slightly.

But his gaze?

Locked.

Not on me.

On him.

And suddenly—

The air felt tighter.

"You look the same," Shun said, his gaze returning to me.

I crossed my arms slightly.

"You look… less broken."

A faint smirk.

"Recovery arc."

Eunice leaned toward Dane again.

"This is getting interesting."

Dane didn't even look away.

"This is getting dangerous."

Shun stepped a little closer.

Not too close.

Not crossing a line.

But enough to be noticed.

And Keifer noticed.

Of course he did.

"You healed fast."

Keifer's voice.

Cold.

Calm.

Sharp.

Shun met his gaze.

Unshaken.

"I adapt."

Silence again.

But this time—

It wasn't empty.

It was loaded.

And somehow—

I was standing right in the middle of it.

"Wait—you're here?" I asked, looking back at Shun. "Since when?"

"Since I decided I should be."

"That's not an answer."

"It's the only one you need."

I frowned slightly.

"You're being cryptic again."

"I've always been."

"Annoying."

"You liked it."

"I tolerated it."

"Liar."

"Okay, that's Keifer's line," I muttered.

"Good lines should be reused," Keifer said calmly.

I turned to glare at him.

"Stay out of this."

"I'm very much in this."

"No, you're escalating this."

"I enjoy escalation."

"Of course you do."

A pause.

Then—

Shun spoke again.

"You haven't changed."

I looked at him.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You're still… unpredictable."

I smirked.

"Say chaotic."

"I was being polite."

"Don't be."

"Noted."

Silence stretched again.

And this time—

Even I felt it.

Something was off.

Something was building.

Something I didn't fully understand yet—

But it was there.

"Why are you both so quiet?" I asked, looking between them.

Keifer didn't look at me.

Didn't blink.

Didn't move.

"Because he's here."

My brows furrowed.

"That's not an explanation."

Shun tilted his head slightly.

"And he doesn't like it."

I blinked.

Once.

Twice.

Then looked at Keifer.

"…You don't like it?"

He finally looked at me.

And for a second—

Everything else disappeared.

"Should I?"

My breath caught.

Just slightly.

"I don't know," I admitted.

"That's the problem."

"What problem?"

"That you don't know."

I stared at him.

Confused.

Annoyed.

Something else too.

"Okay, why does this feel like I walked into a situation I wasn't invited to?"

"You did," Eunice muttered.

"YOU'RE NOT HELPING."

"I'm narrating."

"Stop narrating."

"Can't."

Dane exhaled slowly.

"This is going to end badly."

"For who?" Eunice asked.

He glanced at Keifer.

"…Not for him."

I crossed my arms.

"Can someone explain what's happening?"

"No," Keifer and Shun said at the same time.

I blinked.

"…Wow."

Eunice clapped slowly.

"Beautiful synchronization. Very threatening."

I rubbed my forehead.

"I'm surrounded by insane people."

Keifer leaned slightly closer.

Lowering his voice just enough—

"Yet you chose me."

I exhaled sharply.

"Worst decision of my life."

"Best."

"Debatable."

"Not really."

I turned away before my face could betray me again.

Because—

Despite everything.

Despite the tension.

Despite the confusion.

Something in me still felt steady.

Because he was here.

And somehow—

Even in chaos—

That felt like control.

But when I glanced back—

And saw Keifer and Shun still staring at each other—

I realized something.

This?

Was just the beginning.

And I had absolutely no idea—

How bad it was about to get.

Something was off.

Not loud.

Not obvious.

But there.

Lingering.

Like a storm that hadn't decided whether to hit yet.

And somehow—

I was standing right in the center of it.

Shun stayed.

That was the first sign.

Not hovering.

Not pushing.

Just… present.

Close enough to be noticed.

Far enough to look harmless.

Except—

It wasn't harmless.

"Still skipping breakfast?"

I blinked.

"…Excuse me?"

Shun didn't even look amused.

"You used to."

I frowned slightly.

"Okay first of all, why are we bringing up my past crimes?"

"They're habits."

"They're former habits."

"Are they?"

I opened my mouth—

Paused—

Then frowned harder.

"…Okay that felt like an attack."

"Observation."

"Rude observation."

"Accurate observation."

Before I could reply—

I felt it.

A shift beside me.

Not movement.

Not sound.

Just—

Energy.

Keifer.

Still standing exactly where he was.

Still calm.

Still composed.

But something in him had tightened.

Just slightly.

Barely visible.

If you didn't know him—

You'd miss it.

But I did.

"Why do you remember that?" I asked, looking back at Shun.

He shrugged lightly.

"I remember things that matter."

Silence.

Something about that line—

Landed differently.

Not for me.

But for him.

I didn't even need to look.

I could feel it.

Keifer didn't say anything.

Didn't interrupt.

Didn't react outwardly.

But his gaze?

Sharp.

Focused.

Watching.

And suddenly—

This didn't feel like casual conversation anymore.

"You're being weird," I muttered.

"You're being predictable."

"That's offensive."

"That's consistent."

I rolled my eyes.

"God, I forgot how annoying you are."

"You didn't forget."

"I suppressed it."

"Same thing."

"Not really."

"Close enough."

Behind me—

Eunice leaned into Dane again.

"Oh this is FUN."

Dane didn't look amused.

"This is dangerous."

"For who?"

"…Everyone."

I ignored them.

Because clearly—

No one was being helpful.

"Anyway," I said, brushing it off, "why are you even here?"

Shun tilted his head slightly.

"Same reason as everyone else."

"That's not convincing."

"I don't need to convince you."

"Suspicious."

"Observant."

"Annoying."

"Consistent."

I narrowed my eyes.

"Stop reusing that word."

"It fits."

Before I could argue again—

Shun spoke.

"We should mix groups."

I blinked.

"…What?"

He said it casually.

Too casually.

Like it wasn't about to start a problem.

"Spend time with different people."

I frowned.

"That's random."

"It's practical."

"How?"

"Perspective."

"That sounds fake."

"It's not."

I hesitated.

Because—

Okay.

It didn't sound completely stupid.

And also—

This trip was about spending time with everyone.

Right?

"That's actually… not a bad idea."

The moment the words left my mouth—

I felt it.

Slow.

Deliberate.

A head turning.

I turned too.

Keifer.

Looking at me.

"…Not a bad idea?"

Oh.

That tone.

That tone.

"It's just—" I started quickly, "like, we're all here—"

"He shouldn't rely on you all the time."

Shun's voice.

Calm.

Measured.

Perfectly placed.

Silence.

Immediate.

Heavy.

My brows furrowed.

"He doesn't rely on me—"

"Then prove it."

I blinked.

"…What?"

"Let him be independent."

"That sounded like a lecture."

"It's a suggestion."

"A suspicious one."

"Or a fair one."

I looked between them.

Back and forth.

Okay.

Now I could feel it.

Something was happening.

I just didn't know what.

"It's just for activities," I said, trying to sound normal.

Keifer didn't respond immediately.

He just…

Watched me.

And when he finally spoke—

His voice was lower.

Quieter.

More dangerous.

"You're agreeing to this?"

I crossed my arms slightly.

"It's not a big deal."

"Everything starts small."

I blinked.

"…That sounded threatening."

"It wasn't meant to sound anything."

"That's worse."

A pause.

Then—

Because I am apparently incapable of shutting up—

"Are you jealous?"

Silence.

For a second—

I almost regretted saying it.

Then—

He stepped closer.

Not fully.

Just enough.

"You're about to find out."

My heart skipped.

"Wow," Eunice whispered loudly, "he didn't even deny it."

Dane sighed.

"This is escalating."

"THIS IS ENTERTAINMENT," Eunice corrected.

"THIS IS A PROBLEM," Dane corrected back.

I ignored them again.

Because—

Priorities.

"Relax," I said, trying to sound unaffected.

"It's just for a few hours."

Keifer tilted his head slightly.

Studying me.

"You say that like time doesn't matter."

"It doesn't."

"It does."

"It's just an activity."

"It's never just anything with you."

I stared at him.

"…That sounded personal."

"It is."

Silence.

God.

Why does he do this?

Why does he say things like that—

So casually—

Like they don't mean everything?

"Okay," I said finally, exhaling, "fine. We split groups. Everyone survives. No one dies."

Eunice raised her hand immediately.

"I volunteer as tribute to watch the chaos."

"Sit down," Dane muttered.

"Never."

Shun spoke again.

"Then it's settled."

I nodded.

"Yeah."

And just like that—

It was decided.

Groups formed.

Mine:

Me.

Dane.

Eunice.

Shun.

His:

Keifer.

Seraphina.

And two others who clearly had no idea what they signed up for.

I turned back to Keifer.

Trying to lighten it.

Trying to make it feel normal.

"It's just for fun."

He didn't smile.

Didn't react.

Just—

Stepped closer.

Close enough that I had to tilt my head slightly to look up at him.

"Have fun."

I blinked.

"…That sounded like a warning."

"It wasn't."

"What was it then?"

"A promise."

"…That's worse."

"It should be."

My heart did that thing again.

That stupid—

Unpredictable—

Annoying thing.

"You're being dramatic."

"And you're underestimating me."

"I'm not scared of you."

"You should be."

I smirked slightly.

"Make me."

A pause.

Then—

His lips curved.

Slow.

Dangerous.

"You're already reacting."

I rolled my eyes.

"Please."

"You started this."

"I did not."

"You asked if I was jealous."

"That was a question."

"That was a mistake."

I blinked.

"…Excuse me?"

He leaned closer.

Voice dropping just enough—

"You don't ask questions you're not ready to hear the answer to."

My breath hitched.

Just slightly.

"I can handle answers."

"Good."

A pause.

Then—

"Because I'm not holding back."

I stared at him.

And for a second—

Everything else disappeared again.

Noise.

People.

Shun.

Seraphina.

Everything.

Just him.

And that look.

That look that said—

This wasn't over.

Not even close.

"Okay!" Eunice clapped loudly. "This is getting too intense for morning hours. Can we move before someone confesses or fights?"

"Or both," Dane added.

"Preferably both," Eunice nodded.

I exhaled.

Stepping back slightly.

Breaking whatever that moment was.

"Let's go," I said, turning toward my group.

But before I could fully walk away—

A hand.

Light.

Firm.

At my wrist.

I stopped.

Turned.

Keifer.

Still looking at me.

"Don't get too comfortable."

I frowned.

"With what?"

He didn't answer immediately.

Just glanced briefly—

At Shun.

Then back at me.

"With anyone else."

My heart dropped.

Then jumped.

Then completely lost control.

"You're insane."

"And you like it."

"…unfortunately."

"Liar."

He let go.

And just like that—

The moment ended.

But the feeling?

Didn't.

Because as I walked toward my group—

And felt Shun fall into step beside me—

I didn't realize one thing.

Not yet.

But it was already happening.

I was walking straight into a game—

I didn't even know I was playing.

And Keifer?

Oh.

He had already decided—

He was going to win.

If someone had told me that switching teams for "fun" would feel like walking into a battlefield…

…I would've laughed.

Now?

I was reconsidering every life decision I'd ever made.

The activity ground was loud.

Too loud.

Teachers shouting instructions. Students running around. Laughter echoing everywhere.

But somehow—

Despite all that noise—

I could feel it.

Him.

Watching me.

"Focus," Shun said calmly beside me, handing me a clue sheet. "You're staring in the wrong direction."

I blinked. "I'm not staring—"

"You are."

Pause.

"…And it's not subtle."

I frowned. "Excuse me—"

"You always did this," Shun continued, almost amused. "Pretend you're fine when you're not."

I scoffed. "Wow. You came all this way just to psychoanalyze me?"

Shun tilted his head slightly. "I came to observe."

"Creepy."

"Accurate."

From behind me—

Eunice leaned in, whispering loudly enough to ruin my life.

"Stand closer to Shun."

I froze. "…Why."

Dane didn't even look up from the map. "For science."

I turned to them slowly. "You both need help."

Eunice grinned. "We are helping."

"By ruining my life?"

"By improving the plot."

I groaned.

But before I could argue—

Shun casually stepped a little closer to me.

Not too close.

But just enough.

And for some reason—

I didn't move away.

Big mistake.

Huge mistake.

Because the second I laughed at something Shun said—

I felt it.

That shift.

That invisible, dangerous shift in the air.

Keifer's POV

Enough.

I had been watching.

Quiet.

Still.

Controlled.

For the past twenty minutes.

Watching her laugh.

Watching her walk beside him.

Watching her forget—

That I was right here.

Seraphina's voice cut in beside me.

"You're distracted."

"I'm aware."

"She's enjoying herself."

I didn't look at her.

"She's allowed to."

Seraphina's tone softened—too calculated. "She looks good with him."

That did it.

My jaw tightened slightly.

But my voice?

Cold.

"She looks better with me."

Seraphina smiled faintly. "Possession doesn't suit you."

I finally turned my head—slowly.

"It's not possession," I said quietly.

Pause.

"It's fact."

And then—

I moved.

Jay-Jay's POV

I didn't even see him coming.

One second, I was laughing at something Shun said—

Next—

A shadow fell over us.

Heavy.

Familiar.

Dangerous.

"Having fun?"

My heart did something stupid.

Like completely stop.

I turned.

Keifer stood there.

Hands in his pockets.

Face calm.

Eyes?

Not calm.

Not even close.

"Yeah," I said, smiling automatically. "Why?"

Silence.

A beat too long.

Then—

"I can see that."

Something about the way he said it—

Made my smile falter.

Shun didn't move.

Didn't step back.

Didn't even blink.

"She's allowed to."

My head snapped toward him. "Shun—"

"I didn't ask you," Keifer cut in.

Quiet.

Sharp.

Controlled.

And suddenly—

Everyone around us went quiet.

"Why are you both like this?" I snapped, looking between them.

Neither answered.

Of course.

Because apparently communication was illegal today.

Eunice appeared out of nowhere again.

"This is better than Netflix."

Dane nodded. "I'd pay for this."

"STOP ENJOYING THIS," I hissed.

Eunice grinned. "No ❤️"

I turned back to Keifer.

"Say something normal."

"I am."

"That's not normal."

"It is for me."

God.

He was impossible.

Shun crossed his arms slightly. "You're overreacting."

Keifer tilted his head. "I haven't reacted yet."

Pause.

"And you don't want me to."

Something in my chest tightened.

That tone.

That calm.

That dangerous calm.

"Okay, enough," I said quickly. "We're literally doing a team activity. Why are we acting like—"

"Because you're acting like he matters."

Silence.

I blinked.

"…What?"

Keifer's gaze didn't move from mine.

"You're laughing. Walking with him. Listening to him."

Pause.

"You don't do that with just anyone."

My brain short-circuited.

"Keifer—"

"You asked if I was jealous," he continued.

Low.

Steady.

"Watch carefully."

My stomach flipped.

Dangerously.

Stupidly.

Butterflies mixed with fear and something worse.

"Relax," I muttered. "You're being dramatic."

He stepped closer.

Not touching.

But close enough to mess with my breathing.

"You like when I'm dramatic."

"I—"

"You like when I pay attention."

"I didn't say that—"

"You don't have to."

Shun exhaled slowly beside me. "This is unnecessary."

Keifer didn't even look at him.

"Then leave."

I grabbed Keifer's arm lightly. "Stop it."

He finally looked at me again.

And something shifted.

Softer.

But not less intense.

"You're enjoying this," he said.

I blinked. "Enjoying what?"

"Making me jealous."

My jaw dropped. "I am NOT—"

"You are."

"I literally didn't do anything!"

"You stood close to him."

"That's not illegal—"

"It should be."

Eunice clutched her chest dramatically. "OH MY GOD—HE SAID IT—"

Dane nodded. "He's gone."

"SHUT UP, GAGO!" I snapped.

Keifer leaned slightly closer.

Voice dropping just enough—

"That's two."

I froze. "…What?"

"You argued. You used profanity."

Pause.

"That's two."

My brain caught up.

Slowly.

"…You're counting?"

His lips twitched.

"Always."

My face heated instantly.

"You're insane."

"You like it."

"I don't—"

"You do."

And before I could argue—

He leaned in just enough to murmur—

"Careful. One more…"

Pause.

"…and I'll have to do something about it."

My heart.

My poor, confused, traitorous heart—

Was not okay.

"YOU TWO ARE DISGUSTING," Eunice yelled.

Dane nodded. "In a fascinating way."

I shoved Keifer lightly. "Go back to your team."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"KEIFER—"

He smirked.

Slow.

Dangerous.

"You're really testing me today."

Shun stepped in again.

Calm.

Measured.

"You're proving my point."

Keifer finally looked at him.

And this time—

There was no amusement.

"What point?"

"That you rely on her too much."

Silence.

I turned to Shun. "Okay, stop—"

But Keifer spoke first.

Low.

Cold.

"I don't rely on her."

Pause.

"I choose her."

Everything stopped.

Again.

And for a second—

Just a second—

I forgot how to breathe.

Shun studied him.

Then nodded slightly.

"…Good."

That confused me.

"Wait—what?"

But no one answered.

Because apparently today was a day of dramatic statements and zero explanations.

"CAN WE PLEASE JUST DO THE ACTIVITY," I snapped.

Eunice raised her hand. "No."

Dane: "Absolutely not."

I covered my face.

"This is my villain origin story."

Keifer leaned closer again.

Voice softer now.

Just for me.

"You started it."

I peeked at him through my fingers. "How."

"You said yes."

"To what—"

"To leaving me."

My chest tightened.

"I didn't leave you."

"You walked away."

"It was for an activity—"

"It was enough."

God.

He was impossible.

But also—

Annoyingly—

Right.

I exhaled slowly.

"…You're overthinking."

He tilted his head.

"You're underthinking."

I glared at him.

He smiled.

And just like that—

The tension didn't disappear.

But it shifted.

Into something else.

Something warmer.

Sharper.

More dangerous.

"Fine," I muttered. "We'll finish this stupid activity."

"Together?" he asked.

I hesitated.

Shun watched.

Eunice practically vibrated.

Dane looked entertained.

"…No," I said finally.

Just to see his reaction.

Big mistake.

Because his eyes darkened slightly.

And his smirk?

Yeah.

That got worse.

"Okay," he said softly.

Too softly.

"Play your game."

And for the first time that day—

I realized something.

This wasn't just teasing anymore.

This wasn't just flirting.

This wasn't even just jealousy.

This was—

A game.

And I had just challenged the wrong player.

As I turned back to my team—

Trying to ignore the way my heart was racing—

I heard him.

Behind me.

Quiet.

Almost to himself.

"…Enough."

And something in me knew—

Whatever was about to happen next…

Was going to change everything.

If there was a moment—

A very specific moment—

Where everything crossed the line…

It was this one.

The final activity had turned into chaos.

Not the fun kind.

The loud, competitive, everyone-trying-to-win kind.

Students everywhere.

Shouting. Running. Laughing.

Teachers trying—and failing—to control it.

"LEFT—NO—YOUR OTHER LEFT—"

"WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS—"

"DANE, THAT'S NOT EVEN OUR TEAM—"

"I PANICKED—"

I was laughing.

Actually laughing.

Because somehow—

Despite everything—

This was fun.

"Careful," Shun said beside me, steadying the rope we were supposed to tie. "You're going to mess it up again."

"I'm not—"

The knot slipped from my hands.

"…Okay maybe I am."

He sighed softly. "You haven't changed."

"You say that like it's a bad thing."

"It's a dangerous thing."

I rolled my eyes and reached forward again—

And without thinking—

Without even realizing—

My fingers brushed his arm.

Light.

Casual.

Nothing.

But not nothing.

Because the second it happened—

The air shifted.

Keifer's POV

That's it.

I had watched enough.

More than enough.

Longer than I should have.

Her laughter.

Her closeness.

Her hand—

On him.

That wasn't accidental.

I didn't care if it was.

My jaw tightened.

Slowly.

Deliberately.

Seraphina's voice drifted beside me again.

"She's comfortable."

I didn't answer.

"She looks like she belongs there."

Still nothing.

"Maybe you miscalculated," she added.

That was her mistake.

Because the second she said that—

Something in me snapped.

Not loudly.

Not visibly.

But completely.

I stepped forward.

Jay-Jay's POV

I didn't even realize what I had done.

Didn't even realize—

That everything had just changed.

Until—

"Enough."

The word cut through everything.

Sharp.

Clean.

Final.

The noise around us—

Faded.

Slowly.

Like someone had turned the volume down on the world.

I turned.

Heart already racing.

Keifer stood there.

Not smiling.

Not amused.

Not teasing.

Something else.

"Keifer…?" I said softly.

Confused.

A little breathless.

He didn't answer.

Didn't explain.

Didn't hesitate.

He walked straight toward me.

Every step—

Measured.

Controlled.

Unstoppable.

"Hey—" I started.

But before I could finish—

His hand wrapped around my wrist.

Firm.

Warm.

Unyielding.

And then—

He pulled me.

Straight into him.

My breath caught.

"Keifer—what are you—"

But I didn't finish.

Because I felt it.

The way his arm settled around me.

Strong.

Possessive.

Like he wasn't letting go.

And suddenly—

Everyone was watching.

Dane's POV

"…Oh."

Eunice grabbed my arm. "THIS IS IT—"

"Yeah," I muttered. "This is definitely it."

Jay-Jay's POV

"What is happening?" I whispered, looking up at him.

He finally looked at me.

And my heart—

Completely stopped.

He wasn't angry.

That would've been easier.

He was certain.

"Keifer…" I said again, softer this time.

Before he could answer—

Shun stepped forward.

Calm.

Composed.

Unshaken.

"You don't own her."

Silence.

The words hung in the air.

Heavy.

Sharp.

Dangerous.

My grip on Keifer's shirt tightened instinctively.

"Shun—don't—"

But Keifer moved first.

Slowly.

Turning his head just enough—

To look at him.

And when he spoke—

His voice was quiet.

Flat.

Terrifyingly calm.

"I do."

The world stopped.

Actually stopped.

Someone dropped something in the background.

A whisper started somewhere.

Then another.

Then more.

"Did he just—"

"HE DID—"

"Oh my god—"

"Keifer—" I breathed, my voice barely there.

But he didn't look away from Shun.

Not yet.

Shun's expression didn't change.

But his eyes sharpened slightly.

"That's not how this works."

Keifer's grip on me tightened.

Just a little.

Enough for me to feel it.

Enough for everyone else to see it.

"It is for me."

"People aren't possessions."

"They are when they choose to be."

My brain short-circuited.

"…I'm sorry WHAT—"

Eunice choked somewhere behind me. "HE'S INSANE—"

Dane: "No, he's committed."

"Keifer," I whispered, tugging slightly at his shirt. "Everyone is staring—"

"Let them."

My face burned.

"THIS IS NOT NORMAL—"

"You're not normal."

"That's not helping—"

"It is to me."

I groaned softly, hiding my face against his chest for a second.

"This is so embarrassing—"

His voice dropped slightly.

Just for me.

"You weren't embarrassed a minute ago."

My head snapped up.

"That was different—"

"You touched him."

"I barely—"

"You touched him."

My mouth opened.

Closed.

Opened again.

"…You're unbelievable."

His lips twitched.

"There it is."

"What?"

"That tone."

Oh no.

"That's three."

My eyes widened. "KEIFER—DON'T YOU DARE—"

Too late.

He tilted my chin up slightly.

Just enough to make me look at him.

"You really don't learn," he murmured.

And before I could react—

He leaned in.

Not a soft kiss.

Not a hesitant one.

A firm one.

Intentional.

Claiming.

Right there.

In front of everyone.

Gasps.

Actual gasps.

Eunice screamed. "I'M NOT OKAY—"

Dane: "Yeah, same."

When he pulled back—

My brain was gone.

Completely gone.

"You're insane," I whispered.

Breathless.

Shaking.

"You like it."

"I—"

"You do."

Shun exhaled slowly.

"…So this is how you prove your point."

Keifer finally looked at him again.

And this time—

There was no patience left.

"I don't prove things."

Pause.

"I end them."

Silence.

For a second—

I thought Shun might argue again.

Push again.

But instead—

He studied us.

Really studied us.

Then—

A small, almost amused exhale.

"…Noted."

And just like that—

The tension shifted.

Not gone.

But different.

Behind me—

Eunice whispered loudly—

"HE WON."

Dane nodded. "He definitely won."

"I am NOT a prize—" I started.

Keifer leaned down slightly.

Close to my ear.

Voice low.

Dangerous.

"No."

Pause.

"You're the reason."

My heart betrayed me.

Again.

"You're impossible," I muttered.

"And you're mine."

My breath caught.

And for once—

For the first time since this whole chaos started—

I didn't argue.

The crowd slowly started moving again.

Noise returning.

Energy shifting.

But nothing felt the same.

Because now—

Everyone knew.

And as Keifer's hand tightened around mine—

Like he had no intention of letting go—

I realized something.

This wasn't just jealousy anymore.

This wasn't even a game.

This—

Was a claim.

And I had just been claimed—

In front of everyone.

I thought it was over.

I really did.

The tension.

The stares.

The whispers.

The way everyone had frozen when Keifer pulled me close like I belonged there—

I thought that was the peak.

The breaking point.

The moment everything would slowly settle down.

I was wrong.

Because Keifer—

Didn't step back.

Didn't loosen his grip.

Didn't even consider ending it quietly.

Instead—

He stepped forward.

And when Mark Keifer Watson stepped forward like that—

People noticed.

Crowd POV

The energy shifted again.

Students who had started moving—

Stopped.

Conversations cut off mid-sentence.

Even the teachers—

Went quiet.

Because something about him—

Said this wasn't over.

Jay-Jay's POV

My fingers tightened around his sleeve.

"Keifer…" I whispered, panic mixing with something dangerously close to anticipation.

"What are you doing?"

He didn't answer immediately.

Of course he didn't.

Instead—

He looked around.

Slowly.

Calmly.

Like he owned the moment.

Then—

He spoke.

"Let me make this simple."

My heart dropped.

Straight to my stomach.

Oh no.

Oh no no no—

Because that tone?

That calm?

That was never good.

"Keifer—" I tried again, tugging at him slightly.

"This is enough—"

"It's not."

Two words.

Quiet.

Final.

And just like that—

I knew.

He wasn't stopping.

Keifer's POV

They needed clarity.

All of them.

Him.

The crowd.

Even her.

Because she kept acting like this was a game.

Like this was temporary.

Like I'd let it slide.

I don't let things slide.

Especially not this.

I tightened my hold on her slightly.

Not hurting.

Just—

Certain.

And then—

I said it.

"She's mine."

Silence.

Not normal silence.

Not awkward silence.

The kind of silence that echoes.

Someone inhaled sharply.

Someone dropped their phone.

Someone whispered—

"Did he just—"

But I wasn't done.

I looked at her this time.

Not the crowd.

Not him.

Her.

"And I'm hers."

Jay-Jay's POV

I forgot how to breathe.

Completely.

Utterly.

Because—

He didn't hesitate.

Didn't joke.

Didn't soften it.

He meant it.

"Keifer…" I whispered, my voice barely there.

But he didn't give me time to process it.

Of course not.

Because the next thing I knew—

His hand was on my waist.

Pulling me closer.

And then—

He kissed me.

Not rushed.

Not soft.

Not like he was proving something.

Like he knew something.

Certain.

Steady.

Claiming—

But not in a way that trapped me.

In a way that held me.

And somehow—

That made it worse.

Because my heart?

Yeah.

That traitor?

It melted.

Crowd Reaction

Gasps.

Actual gasps.

"OH MY GOD—"

"IN FRONT OF EVERYONE—"

"HE DID NOT JUST—"

"HE DID—"

Eunice screamed.

"I LOVE THIS—"

Dane didn't even try to hide his amusement.

"Of course you do."

"THIS IS BETTER THAN ANY DRAMA—"

"Eunice."

"WHAT—"

Jay-Jay's POV

When he pulled back—

I was done for.

Completely gone.

"You're insane," I whispered again, but it came out softer this time.

Weaker.

He smirked slightly.

"You say that like it's new."

"It's worse now."

"Good."

My face burned.

"Everyone is staring."

"Let them."

"You just announced something to the entire school—"

"And?"

"And—AND—"

Words failed me.

Completely.

He leaned in slightly.

Close enough that only I could hear.

"You didn't deny it."

My brain short-circuited.

"I—"

"You didn't."

I opened my mouth.

Closed it.

Opened it again.

"…I hate you."

He smiled.

Slow.

Dangerous.

"No, you don't."

God.

He was unbearable.

Shun's POV

I watched.

Quiet.

Still.

And then—

I smiled.

"…Good."

Because that?

That was the reaction I wanted.

Not for me.

Not for her.

For him.

Jay-Jay's POV

The crowd slowly started moving again.

Whispers spreading like wildfire.

People staring.

Pointing.

I buried my face in my hands.

"I cannot believe you just did that."

Keifer gently pulled my hands away.

"Believe it."

"You're impossible."

"You've said that."

"Because it's true."

"And yet—"

Pause.

"You're still here."

I glared at him.

He looked pleased.

"Stop looking so proud."

"I am proud."

"OF WHAT—"

"You."

I froze.

"…What."

"You didn't walk away."

Something in my chest tightened.

Soft.

Unexpected.

Before I could respond—

Eunice appeared again.

Of course she did.

"I'M THROWING YOU A WEDDING—"

"NO YOU'RE NOT—"

Dane sighed.

"She will."

"THIS IS ICONIC—"

"EUNICE—"

Keifer leaned down slightly.

Voice low.

Amused.

"Careful."

I narrowed my eyes.

"…What now."

"That's four."

My brain caught up instantly.

"NO—WAIT—"

Too late.

He kissed my cheek this time.

Quick.

Teasing.

"Five," he murmured.

I shoved him lightly.

"YOU ARE ABUSING THIS SYSTEM—"

"You agreed to it."

"I DIDN'T SIGN A CONTRACT—"

"You didn't have to."

Dane muttered, "This is exhausting."

Eunice: "This is beautiful."

I covered my face again.

"I'm never showing my face again."

Keifer gently pulled my hands down.

"You will."

"Why."

"Because I'm here."

My heart did that thing again.

That stupid—

dangerous—

butterfly thing.

"…You're very confident."

"I don't compete."

Pause.

"I win."

I stared at him.

Speechless.

Again.

*End Of Flashback*

Jay-Jay's POV

"…and that's what happened."

Silence.

Then—

Samy exploded.

"HE ANNOUNCED IT? IN FRONT OF EVERYONE?"

I winced. "…Yes."

"LIKE—LOUDLY?"

"Yes."

"CONFIDENTLY?"

"Yes."

"INSANELY?"

"…Also yes."

Samy clutched her chest.

"I would've fainted."

"You would've screamed."

"That too."

Coel leaned back slightly, thoughtful.

"I've heard those names before…"

I blinked. "…What?"

"Shun… Seraphina…"

My stomach tightened slightly.

"Oh."

Before he could continue—

The door opened.

And just like that—

Everything went quiet again.

Keifer walked in.

Same presence.

Same calm.

Same him.

Samy immediately stood up.

"WE SHOULD GO."

Coel blinked. "What—why—"

"No questions."

She grabbed his arm.

Pulled him toward the door.

But before leaving—

She turned.

Looked at me.

And winked.

Traitor.

The door closed.

And suddenly—

It was just us.

He walked toward me slowly.

Hands in his pockets.

That familiar look in his eyes.

"Telling stories about me?"

I crossed my arms.

"Only the dramatic ones."

He stopped in front of me.

Close.

Too close.

"Then you missed a few."

I raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

"Yeah."

I tilted my head slightly.

"Add them."

His lips curved faintly.

"Careful what you ask for."

"Why?"

He stepped closer.

Close enough that my breath hitched slightly.

"Because I don't tell stories."

Pause.

"I make them."

My heart—

Yeah.

Not okay.

"Confident."

"Accurate."

I smiled slightly.

"Prove it."

That did something.

Something dangerous.

His hand lifted.

Gently.

Cupping my face.

Warm.

Steady.

Familiar.

"I will."

And then—

He kissed me.

Not like before.

Not loud.

Not claiming.

Not proving.

Just—

Soft.

Slow.

Certain.

Ours.

Some moments were loud enough to shake the world…

And some—

only needed him to look at me like that.
