Chapter 204: The Burning Sword

Surging flames swirled and twisted, chasing one another as they climbed steadily into the night sky.

Clang~~ Clang-clang-clang-clang-clang~~~~

One hand gripping the hilt of the longsword at his waist, Glyn crabbe stood fast. The immense flames stirred a strong wind, causing his blue cloak embroidered with a golden marsh marigold to snap loudly in the gale.

Glyn's pupils reflected the firelight... *She should be fine, right?* Although he knew Daenerys was not afraid of fire, seeing her face the raging inferno directly still made him worry.

*How many dragons will there be?* Glyn's eyes trembled slightly. It seemed he would witness the outcome of his finishing stroke.

Who was Young Griff? Glyn didn't think Young Griff was the real Aegon. He was more inclined to believe this "imposter" was a descendant of House Blackfyre or of Illyrio.

This was the game of thrones, and Young Griff had foolishly taken the initiative to contact him. As a competent player of the game, Glyn naturally wouldn't waste such a good opportunity. He killed him first and would deal with the questions later.

As for Young Griff's true identity... it wasn't important. Lord Glynn had already set up a new game, and everyone was invited to play.

...

The inferno soared, waving enormous, fiery wings. Luminous embers drifted into the boundless night, like thousands of newborn fireflies.

*Varys... Jon Connington (who once served as the Mad King's Hand, went by the alias Griff, and was Young Griff's adoptive father)... the Golden Company...* Glyn rubbed his thumb against his index finger.

...

...

The flames writhed before Daenerys. They were like dancers... spinning... moving... as if displaying the life within the fire, appearing exceptionally beautiful.

The fire consumed Daenerys's kin. She smelled the scent of cooked flesh; it was no different from the aroma of roasted meat she was familiar with.

The flames melted skin, leaving only withered bones.

The intense heat of the fire made sweat run down every part of her body. Where tears should have fallen, sweat took their place, streaming down her cheeks.

These were not tears. She had sworn never to cry for Viserys again.

The clothes on Daenerys's body began to smoke. With a flick of her hand, she let the objects she held fall to the ground, bursting into blossoms of red flame.

A wave of heat rose from the fire and rushed toward Daenerys. She didn't move an inch. She was the blood of the Dragon, with a raging fire within her.

The flames were so beautiful. Daenerys saw crimson fire-lions, golden serpents, and unicorns formed from pale blue flames, each more beautiful than the last.

Daenerys opened her arms and welcomed them, her skin glowing red in the searing flames.

...

...

Glyn's gaze shifted. He turned to look behind him, just in time to see Montun's warhammer brutally smash into the head of a burly, orange-haired man.

In Montun's hands, the warhammer was devastating, instantly shattering the man's skull. Viscous, crimson blood splattered everywhere, splashing onto the ground.

The burly man collapsed, his life extinguished.

Seeing his lord's gaze upon him, Montun said sheepishly, "My Lord, he kept staring at you..."

Glyn raised an eyebrow slightly.

Seemingly sensing his explanation was inadequate, Montun scratched his head and added, "He bore you ill will."

Montun possessed the instincts of a wild beast, his sharpness second only to Glyn's own. Glyn gave a slight nod, turned, and walked over.

As Glyn was inspecting the body, Osha's voice sounded, "Lord Glynn, he... was called Rolly. He was Jon's friend."

Glyn looked at her. "Osha, have you completed the blockade?"

*Crack!* A loud sound of cracking stone suddenly erupted, and Glyn even felt the ground tremble.

*Crack!* A sharp boom like thunder followed. Thick smoke billowed up, and the ground shook again.

*Crack!* The roar of the fire shook the heavens, as if the sky were falling and the earth were splitting asunder.

...

The flames died down, and the ground cooled slightly.

*Crunch, crunch.* Glyn strode forward, his boots making crisp sounds as they stepped on the charcoal.

Amidst the ashes, Glyn found Daenerys Targaryen. She was surrounded by charred wood and glowing embers.

Daenerys was completely naked, her body covered in soot and ash. The beautiful silver hair from his memories was also completely burned away.

Daenerys was unharmed. In her arms, she cradled a hatchling of cream and gold, and another of bronze and green. A black and red hatchling was draped over her shoulder, its long, serpentine neck coiled around her chin.

Daenerys raised her eyes to the blue figure, seemingly thinking it was a hallucination. "Glyn!"

The three hatchlings opened their eyes, red as coals, and followed Daenerys's gaze to fix upon Glyn in unison.

Daenerys suddenly stood up and repeated, "Glyn?"

*Hisss~~~!*

The little black dragon snorted a few wisps of white smoke from its mouth and nostrils in displeasure. The other two joined its hissing at once.

Glyn's eyebrow rose. His gaze swept over the three hatchlings. At that moment... *he* was the strongest creature here!

Glyn ripped off his cloak and draped it over Daenerys. She stood motionless, staring at the man she had longed for, her violet eyes growing brighter and brighter.

Glyn gently scooped Daenerys up into his arms. Her hands clutched tightly at his clothes as she buried her head in his shoulder and whispered his name, "Glyn."

*Hisss~~~!*

The three hatchlings spread their translucent wings, beating the air and screeching in unison.

Davos Seaworth surveyed the port of Dragonstone, crowded for the first time. On every pier, large groups of sailors were loading supplies. Every tavern was packed with soldiers gambling with dice, drinking, or searching for whores... a pity for them, it was a wasted effort, because Stannis had forbidden prostitution on the island.

Davos left his sons behind and walked into a tavern alone. At the far end of the boisterous hall, his good friend Salladhor Saan waved at him.
