It was time to leave. Felix helped Mercedes pack everything she needed to leave. It broke his heart, but it was something that must be done. They had to be separated for some time, but Felix knew that it was going to feel like an eternity without her.
Mercedes kept stealing glances at him. He seemed to be sulking and lost in thought. She felt bad to be leaving him behind as well, but there was nowhere out. She sighed and suppressed her emotions. Once they were done packing, Felix carried her bags and they joined the others downstairs.
" Do you have everything you need?" Alexa asks Mercedes.
"Yes, I do," she replies.
Crystal comes forward and takes Mercedes's hand. Everyone looks at her as she puts an amulet in her hand. It was a crystal-like amulet.
" I have been wanting to give you this amulet for some time. Right now felt like the perfect time to do it," Crystal says to her.
Mercedes looks at the amulet and tears come to her eyes.
" I had Alexa work her magic on it. I hope it will protect you wherever you find yourself in danger."
" Thank you." She pulls Crystal into her arms as tears fall from her eyes. What more could she ever ask for than the love of her family? She was not alone in this.
They pulled away from each other, both in tears.
Mercedes hands back the amulet to Crystal.
" Here. Can you please help me wear it?"
" Of course," she replies. Mercedes turns around and moves her hair to the side. Crystal puts the amulet around her neck and clasps it.
" Thank you, Crystal, for being such a thoughtful friend to my mate. I didn't even think about something to give her before she left," Felix spoke, still feeling down.
" No need to thank me Alpha. She is my sister and I would do anything for her," Crystal says truthfully.
Felix pulled Mercedes into his arms and held her tightly. He wanted to cry, but he had to keep his composure and image as the Alpha. He placed a kiss on her mark, making her squirm.
" I'll miss you so much, my love," he says, pulling away. He holds her hands and looks into her.
" If anything happens. Big or small, you call me and I'll come to you. Don't get hurt and don't push yourself to death. I want you in one piece. I don't care if the fate of the world is in your hands. To me, you are the world."
Mercedes sniffled as tears kept falling from her eyes. Her heart was overflowing with love and had no words for what she was feeling.
Everyone looked at them with smiles on their faces. Jake was filled with joy to see his Alpha and best friend have a taste of happiness.
Mercedes wipes away her tears. She didn't want to leave crying so she got a grip on herself.
" I want you to take care of yourself, Felix. I promise I'll do the same, and I'll call you every day, so make sure to pick up my calls. Don't get hurt either." Felix smiled.
" You too, Crystal," she says, looking at her.
" Jake, please take care and take care of Crystal and my nephew. No harm should befall them."
" You can count on me, Luna. I will put my life on the line for my family," Jake replied with a smile.
She looked back at Felix. " I love you Alpha," she says, and Felix's smile grows wider. It was the first time she had said that in front of others. His heart swelled with pride and love for his mate.
" I love you too, Mercedes." He grabbed her and kissed her. It was a long lingering kiss. They forgot that they were in the presence of others as they indulged in their desires.
Someone cleared their throat, causing them to stop and pull away.
" Enough of this love and sentimentality now. We have to get going," Alexa says and Mercedes's cheeks turn red in embarrassment.
" Alexa. Make sure to protect her with your life. Don't ever let anything happen to her, or I swear Drakoen will be the least of your worries. She is my life," Felix says.
Alexa rolls her eyes and folds her eyes.
" Calm down lover boy. This isn't my first rodeo," she smirks.
" I never thought I would live to see this day. Felix, head over heels. It sure is a new look for you, but I like it. As for Mercedes's safety, I can assure you that there is no place in this world that will be safer than Alvira. Not even the likes of Drakoen can set his foot there. The barrier there is impenetrable."
" Alright. I will take your word for it."
" Good. Now see you later everyone. Let's go, Mercedes."
" See you later, everyone," Mercedes says and waves a hand at them.
She then picks up her bags and starts heading towards the door.
" Luna, where are you going," Alexa calls out, stopping her in her tracks. She turns and sees that Alexa has opened a portal behind her.
" Cars are not fun for a witch. You'll get used to it," she says.
" Oh, okay," Mercedes nervously walks towards the portal. She gives her loved ones one last glance, and then she enters the portal. It is the first portal she'll be using, so she was nervous and a little bit scared. Alexa went in after her. In no time, they were standing in front of the ruins of a building.
" We are here," Alexa announced.
Mercedes was immediately overwhelmed with a wave of nostalgia. It was not her first time in Alvira. She vividly remembered how the building looked before it was ruined. In all its glory. She looked around, remembering how it was all was. Alvira is a sample that the white wolves used to worship the Moon Goddess every full Moon. There was pure energy surrounding the area. Everything was once beautiful and full of life, but now everything is trying and lifeless.
Suddenly, Mercedes fell to her knees and cried in despair. The war with Drakoen that ruined everything replayed in her head. She could hear the cries for help and the distribution of everything like it was happening at the moment.
" What's wrong with Mercedes? What is it?!," Alexa knelt before her. Alexa was at a loss for words. She couldn't understand what was going on with her. Without realizing it, her emotion triggered the energy and everything started to shake violently.
Alexa was in shock seeing what was going on in front of her. Everything started to float in the air because of Mercedes. Alexa created a force field around them in case it got out of control.
" Please, Mercedes! Try to calm down!" she tried to persuade her, but she was unable to get through. Mercedes was trapped in her memories, which caused her grief. Mercedes continued to cry bitterly but couldn't stop herself. Alexa was left with no choice but to render her unconscious. She placed her hands on her head while chanting a spell.
Mercedes slowly passed Alexa's arms out and everything floating fell back down. Alexa felt bad for her.
" Oh, dear. It must have been so hard for you. You have to face the same thing all over again."
