Now that she has sold her property for a good price, it was time to initiate the next phase of her plan.
Bai Li returned to her single sofa and sat down while facing the building manager with her calm eyes. She had already given them a rough idea about what she wants to do next.
As soon as she sat down, The building manager spoke first,
"As you had told me before, Miss Bai Li, after finalizing the transfer of this property, you want to move into a bigger home in this apartment, right?"
Bai Li nodded slightly, "Yes. Is there any available?"
Bai Li didn't just sell this property for no reason. First of all, she needed all the money that she could gather and second of all, she wanted to set up a base for at least the first month or two when the apocalypse starts. And for that reason, this tiny two bedroom apartment was nowhere near enough. This place was too small to properly store any good amount of supplies and it also only had one small balcony attached to it and this particular apartment being on the back side, the only view that she could get was that of the river flowing beside the apartment complex which, in a way would blind her from what is happening in the outside world. She needed a place from where she could get a proper view of the surroundings.
She needed a bigger place and also a place which is preferably higher up in the building. For that she needed to buy an apartment in this very complex which will have a larger square feet of area and more rooms and also in the higher floor of this building which would get her a good overall view around the city and keep her safer. Being close to the terrace would also help her in case the government, while it still hasn't fallen yet, distributes supplies to the people via the terraces.
As for why this very apartment complex? It's because this place is a really good place for setting up a base as this society is situated a little away from the main city, is surrounded by trees from all sides and there's even a river flowing from behind this complex which is another plus for safety and keeping zombies at bay or to run away from them using the trees as obstacles. After all, the places closer to the city or in the city would be the first one to go through the most brutal phase of this apocalypse. She definitely didn't want to get stuck inside the busting city which would become the festering ground for this apocalypse.
The building manager was immediately glad that she wanted to buy an apartment in this complex and preferably a bigger one which would cost even more! As a building manager, he would definitely get a private bonus from the owner if he manages to sell one of the costly apartments to her!
He immediately didn't waste any more time and got straight to the point,
"Of course there is, Miss Bai Li! And luck would have it, we have one that would perfectly suit your needs in this very building!"
Bai Li immediately became interested after hearing his words! She sat up slightly and glanced lightly at him as she gestured for him to continue.
: "We currently have only one available apartment which would perfectly suit your needs and that is the six bedroom penthouse on the twentieth floor of this apartment.
Let me give you a brief description of it, then we can go and take a look at the apartment if you want."
Bai Li nodded slightly, "Hmm.. go on."
After hearing her words, the building manager took out his phone and looked for something within for a few seconds before placing the phone on the low glass table in front of them.
Bai Li was curious as to what it was and took a look, only to find the picture of the floormap of a building.
She couldn't quite understand what it was but knew that it must be the floormap of the apartment that he is about to show her.
The building manager pointed to the floor map on the glass table and said with a proud smile,
"This is the 20th floor of this building and also the last floor that has been fully completed. As you know, there are nine buildings in this whole apartment complex, and this one here is building number nine, the newest one and the last that was built. The condition of every apartment here is much better than the others. The finishing, the fixtures, everything was done with the latest materials."
He tapped the map with a small pen, his tone getting more excited as he talked.
"This building has twenty five floors in total, but from the twenty first floor and above, the inside construction hasn't been finished yet. They're all empty concrete shells, so for now, those floors are not usable. The 20th floor is the highest anyone can go to. The floors from the twentieth to the twenty fifth were planned to be luxury homes, condos, penthouses, all of that. These were meant for people who wanted privacy or had money to spare."
He gave her a wide grin and went on, sounding half proud and half like a salesman.
"These top floors also have special security. The elevators dont go up here unless you own one of the apartments and have a pass card. Without it, the elevator won't move no matter how many times you press the button. The same goes for the stairs. On the twentieth floor landing, there's a fingerprint locked door that keeps these floors seperated from the others. Only the registered residents can open it. So Miss Bai, it's both safe and private. You won't need to worry about strangers wandering around. Sounds amazing, right?"
