The bishop was comforting a group of frightened people.

“Tell me, children, what has that man done?”

“It’s not a man! How could a person be square! It’s a monster—a demon!”

“It imprisoned me up in the sky, made a monster watch over us so we couldn’t sleep!”

“It locked me in a tiny cell—so small I could barely lie down! And it terrified me every single day!”

“It made me farm—but dear god, those crops must’ve come straight from hell! How could I possibly grow them?!”

The bishop said, “Calm down, calm down, children. At least it didn’t hurt you, did it?”

“I also saw your daughter, Your Grace—she’s been brainwashed! She’s helping it!”

The bishop’s pupils trembled. “What? That damned demon! I’ll ask His Holiness to send men to destroy it at once!”

Steve lifted his head, glancing at the broken iron farm, then at the empty trading hall with no villagers left.

“My lord, what are you thinking about?” the girl standing beside him asked softly.

Steve didn’t answer—

He was wondering just how far he’d have to go before his player would finally log back in… and take a look at him.
