Even before Verona reached the courtyard, she could tell something lively was happening outside. The sounds drifted in first, quick, sharp clacks of wooden swords meeting, the duller thud of metal against shields, mixed with men grunting as they pushed themselves harder than they probably needed to at that hour.
Brielle trailed close behind her, both carrying a basket filled with bottles of refreshments and packed snacks for the knights. Thanks to the crystal, she didn't have nightmares anymore. No more visions of her family torturing her. It could've been the crystal, or maybe just being close to Elric, but whatever it was, she was grateful for the peace.
