I stood in front of my car, hesitating for a few seconds. After a moment's struggle, I clenched my jaw and forced myself into the driver's seat.
With both hands clutching the steering wheel, my gaze grew so frosty, it felt like I could freeze the world around me.
Right then, I made up my mind.
I stomped on the gas with reckless abandon, sending my car hurtling straight toward Zain's vehicle, not sparing a second thought about the consequences.
I gritted my teeth, squeezing my eyes shut.
Whatever happens, happens. If it costs me my life, so be it, I told myself.
No matter what might happen, at least in this moment, I wasn't going to give myself even the slightest chance to regret.
With that, I slammed my foot down hard on the gas pedal.
Even as the engine thundered beneath me, my mind stayed uncannily calm—so still it felt like nothing in the world could disturb me.
