Blanche's POV
After sliding into the car, I settled into the back seat with Carry next to me.
We perched at opposite ends like we had the entire universe stretched between us.
Dead silence filled the car. Nobody said a word.
Zain kept stealing glances at us through the rearview mirror—his wife and daughter acting like complete strangers, refusing to acknowledge each other.
I turned toward the window, watching the streak of lights flash by. My mind wandered somewhere far away.
Part of me wanted to smack myself for caving to Zain's demands.
But if I'd refused, he would've just found another angle to twist my arm.
After weighing it all, I decided it was probably easier to just play along.
What really threw me was Zain's sudden shift in behavior.
Wasn't he dying to divorce me?
Once we split, he could parade Joanna around openly as his wife.
So what was with this complete one-eighty?
