Blanche's POV
When we reached the hospital room, I gently pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Amber turned when she heard the door.
Spotting Vincent and me, Amber's gloom lifted just a little—her expression finally softened.
She glanced at Vincent, gratitude coloring her voice. "Thank you for what you did today, Mr. Aarav."
Vincent hesitated, guilt clear on his face. "Amber, you're not upset I got here so late, are you?"
Amber forced a weak smile and shook her head, but didn't say a word.
Camila, who had been snuggled up against Amber, perked up at the sound of Vincent's voice and chirped sweetly, "Uncle Vincent!"
Vincent sat down beside the bed and reached out his big hand to Camila. "Come here, Camila. Let Uncle Vincent chat with you for a minute, okay?"
Camila hesitated, her eyes flicking to Amber, silently asking for her mom's permission.
Amber smiled and nodded. "Go on, honey. Uncle Vincent's right here—and Mom and Aunt Blanche aren't going anywhere."
