Blanche's POV
Carry's eyes brimmed with tears as she stared at Zain, looking utterly fragile and wounded.
Zain gazed back at her, his expression softening with sympathy.
Miss Joanna pulled Carry against her, her palms carefully pressing against Carry's belly with obvious worry.
She dropped her voice to a whisper, asking gently, "Carry, can you tell Miss Joanna exactly where it hurts? Right here? Or maybe over here?"
Carry just continued sobbing, completely unable to speak.
Watching Carry in such apparent agony, Zain frantically told Heidi to rush and fetch some medication.
Once Heidi brought back the medicine, Zain tenderly assisted Carry in taking it.
After she'd swallowed the medicine, Zain noticed droplets of perspiration dotting Carry's forehead. Concerned, he swept away the damp hair clinging to her cheek, gently stroking her face. 'She must be in real pain,' Zain thought, then murmured, "If you're feeling this sick, you can skip kindergarten today."
