I stood in the bedroom doorway, bathed in the warm glow spilling from within.
The light behind me stretched my shadow long across the floor.
The moment Vincent spoke those words, I went rigid.
I'd almost wiped that night from my memory—the night after my D&C procedure.
Not that I was actively trying to erase it. I just saw no point in carrying that baggage.
Clinging to such agonizing memories would only keep tearing me apart.
