Zain's gentle words took some of the edge off my fury.
His fingers wrapped around my hand, but I refused to turn back and face him.
After releasing a long breath, I said, "She dug this hole herself, so she can climb out of it alone. We don't owe her anything. Even if you rescue her this time, what happens when she screws up again? You planning to play her personal bodyguard forever?"
With that, I jerked my hand free from Zain's hold.
I didn't waste another word on him—just pushed open the car door and climbed out.
Zain scrambled after me.
When he saw me about to walk off, he lunged forward and caught me with a steel grip, hauling me straight back.
Zain was built like a brick wall—with barely any effort, he had me pressed against the car.
He towered above me, his shadow falling over me right there for everyone to see.
I fought against him a few times, but I couldn't move Zain an inch.
Finally, I gave up struggling.
