"Why did you agree to this?" Gabe asked Addy on Monday morning at work, she was informing him what she has gotten herself into, Gabe thinks, or knows, she might have an alterity motive.
"Because I thought it would be fun! I can set her up on the worst dates possible, and I know if I make them really bad, she will want to drop this stupid contract before this month is even over!"
"You sure it's not because you want to sleep with her?"
"No, I just want to have a bit of fun." Gabe didn't push, he actually thought this might not be such a bad idea, maybe having Zoe in her life, she might decide whether or not if she wants to stay in New York for work or leave America or maybe even change her ways.
"Do you have someone in mind?" Gabe asked, Addy smiled
"Yes, Weird Becky from the downstairs department." Gabes eyes went wide
"That woman will rip her apart! You can't do that Addy!"
"I can, she has never meet her and I have never slept with her, Becky meets all our agreements." Addy moved to sit down at her desk, as Gabe wanted to protest, there was a banging on the glass wall of her office, and there stood-
"Zoe!?" Addy shouted, the younger woman may or may not have asked Blair if Gabe and Addison work in near each other after she remembered Addison saying that Gabe is a lawyer for some of the workers in her business and she was happy to help, Gabe stared as Zoe walked in, holding her hands behind her back. She looked happy. She was on her way to work, and had a bit of time to kill before she was expected to start her shift.
"I thought we agreed to not bother at work?" Addy said
"Well, this has to do with the date you mentioned you were going to set up for me, and I wanted to come check if you did that. Hi Gabe." Zoe greeted the older man kindly
"Hi, dear. Yes, have you, Addy?" Gabe teased, he was going to play off on both sides of this thing.
"As a matter of fact, I have! Are you free tomorrow night at around 7?" Addy asked, leaning on her elbows. Zoe nodded
"What do I have to wear?"
"Casual, and I will tell you the address and everything tomorrow, I think this chick is the one!" Zoe now was frowning, her and Addy barely know one another to know what her type is, how could she have found the one?
"But-
"I will let you know everything tomorrow," Addy got up and walked Zoe out of the office, "First thing tomorrow I will tell you, ok? BYE NOW!" She said as she pushed her out the door and closed it, Zoe was very confused.
"You are going to break her heart, Addy." Gabe explained
"No, I won't." She replied as she went back to sitting back at her desk, opening her laptop to get to work, but she felt Gabe staring daggers into her head, she looked up.
"Can I help you?" She chuckled at his stare, Gabe wasn't a very serious person, it was hard to believe that he worked in law.
"I am being dead serious, Addison you are going to hurt that girl, you don't know what she has been through-
"I don't need to. All I know is that she is a pure brat, this date will put her in her place and then she hates me and never wants to see me again!"
"Addison, I mean it, be nice to her. You can let her in and be nice." Gabe was being genuine, he has known Blair and Zoe since they started college because he knows Blairs father really well, he also has known Addy since she was in her first year of college, he knows she isn't as mean she seems.
Blair wasn't the one who thought it was a good idea that Zoe and Addy met, she knew they would know one another and she did actually think she could get another chance with Allison but Gabe though that they could really help each other, and be good for each other, they don't know it, but they will need each other more than they have ever needed someone.
"Gabe-
"I said what I said, if you get bit in the ass from this, don't come to me."
Then Gabe walked out of the office, slamming the door behind him, making the glass wall shake, Addy frowned, she didn't understand why he was so upset, he never acts like this. Addy just wanted to have some fun, she didn't know what was wrong with that. Sighing and rolling her eyes, she just went on with her day. She went back to work when she heard another bang on the wall but it was just her boss, her hot boss. She signalled for her to follow her to the meeting, that she had completely forgotten. Getting up, she quickly went to meet her boss, as she was slowly walking down the hall of the workplace, Addys eyes went straight to her ass, her boss, Elena Hernández, was one of the hottest and most beautiful women in the building and she is seemingly obsessed with Addy.
"Who was that child?" Her boss asked
"Just a friend, she wanted advice for her date tonight." Addy replied, her eyes wondering. Elena liked to wear dresses that showed off her breasts well, mainly so she could get the younger people to stare, to get Addy to stare. As they reached the meeting room, Elena stopped Addy, she set her hand on her chest.
"Later this week, we need to have a meeting in my office. Nothing bad, we just need to talk. Okay?" Ally nodded, Elena was planning something, and she knew Addy knew.
"I really don't think this is a great idea but hey, who knows." Blair said to Zoe as she was on her lunch break from work, standing by the counter talking to Zoe at work, Zoe works as a local barista and baker, the woman who hired her asked why isn't she using her degree, Zoe to this day still can't answer her. Zoe was making a latte while Blair was munching at her bagel, she takes too much advantage of the fact her friend works at a café.
"I don't know what to expect, but I am really hoping this date goes well, or well better than the ones you have set me up on." Blair gave a hurt face.
"Hey!"
"It is true! I've never had a second date with the girls you set me up with, they always just want to have sex with me-
"But that's what you want-
"I want to be able to connect to the point where sex becomes the last thing we think about and then it is the best thing ever, same as the first kiss." Zoe walked away to hand over the latte to the costumer, they paid her and left with a smile on her face. She walked back over to where her friend stood.
"Zoe, you will be single and a virgin forever with what you want."
"I know, but I am bound to meet someone who thinks the same, sex isn't everything to me Blair." Zoe explained, Blair kind of just stood there, not really knowing how anyone could want what Zoe wants.
"I guess you make a point, maybe Addy can find that person for you, she seems to know a lot about women… and men, from what Gabe has told me." Zoe frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"She is the biggest player in New York! Or well, she's more like the biggest bachelor, hasn't been in a relationship since college and only fucks around to have just sex, that's what I mean, she KNOWS women AND men. She is sort of like the female version of Christian Grey, but without the whole being into BDSM thing." Blair made a weird hand gesture, Zoe just pulled a sour face.
"Great, a sex freak is helping me."
"She's a freak in bed as well. HEY! Maybe ask her-
"NO! I know what you are going to say and no. I want connect and she wants sex, I won't help her with her needs."
"But she must with yours?" Blair could be rude and dumb.
"I am a virgin, I am not helping the biggest bachelor in New York get a quick fix…wait is that why she wants to help me? Because she thinks I'll end up asking her to have sex with me?" Blair shrugged her shoulders, Zoe could be wrong or right but she wanted to believe that Addy was a halfway decent person. And that she wasn't so low as to take a girls virginity just like that.
"I would love to stay but I have work to get back to, see you at home!" And with that, Blair was gone and Zoe went back to work without her talking in her ear. Zoe thought about what she said to Blair.
If Addy was really just doing this because she wants to have sex with her, when they were in her car and at her place, she was touchy, even though the first part in Addys car was more a less Zoes fault for jumping onto her lap, but Addy didn't have to touch her the way she did, she didn't need to out her hands on her waist or move her hands up her thighs, make her think of things she didn't want to think of with her. Zoe wasn't stupid, she can tell when someone is trying to make a fool of her. Zoe said she wants to think Addy is a good person, but she doesn't know her well enough to tell if she is being real about this whole deal or wants something out of it.
October 25
Tuesday evening rolled around quicker than expected. Zoe was pacing around her room with Blair trying to calm her down, Addy hadn't let her know since yesterday about the date, they did agree that Addy can choose who she is and everything but she was supposed to tell her where to go and what time, it was already 7pm, Blair was ready to call Addy and give her a-
"Your phone is ringing." Blair said, Zoe stopped dead and saw Addisons name light up her phone, she grabbed it and answered it, not evening giving her a chance to talk.
"WHAT WERE YOU DOING THAT YOU DIDN'T TELL EM ANYTHIGN SICNE YESTERDAY?!" She screamed
"I have a thing called work, and I had to ask where does this girl like to eat, she wanted to go somewhere plain, so I suggested Shake Shack, she lives in upper east so she wants to go to the one there." Zoe was wondering who in the hell wanted to meet there for the first time, she did like their food at least.
"What time?"
"Ahhh, it's 7 now so she said 7:30."
"REALLY!? I have to hall ass from west to east now and it will be impossible to get a cab now! Why didn't you suggest somewhere else?" Zoe was getting a bit angry with Addy now
"I thought it would be best! For her." Zoes eyes went wide at her answer, she must have slept with this girl or something, to have to say she is suggesting what is best 'for her'.
"Wow. You are lucky I am dressed and can get out now."
"Just get there, she knows how you look and will be expecting you, then when it's over, you come here and tell me how it went!" At least she remembers that part of the deal, Zoe felt sick to her stomach, like this was the worst idea to do right now.
"Fine, I'll see you later-
"I have to get some work done, have fun!" Addy put the phone down. Zoe stared at her phone is shock, this was a bad idea.
"Where are you going?" Blair asked as Zoe was typing away on her phone, she thought to uber rather than wait to get a cab, the Shake Shack was 30 od minutes out from their place, the uber was already downstairs waiting, Zoe grabbed her bag and walked away.
"Zoe?"
"I'll see you later."
"ZOE!" Blair shouted after her friend as she walked out the front door in a rush to get to her uber.
7:47pm
Zoe was a bit late, the uber took a wrong turn and made them get stuck in a bit of traffic, Zoe ended up walking the rest of the way from where they were stuck, she didn't mind. Walking in the little restaurant, scanning for someone who looked like they would know her, as she looked to her left side, there by the window, was a girl, who smiled as they made eye contact. The girl walked over to Zoe, and was smiling, she wasn't ugly, she was, interesting to look at. As mean as that sounds, Zoe didn't know how to describe her.
"Zoe?" She asked her
"That's me-
"GREAT! You are really late." The girl said, Zoe shifted her body.
"I live on the Upper West side, it took a while-
"I don't need to hear it, let's get some food!" The woman grabbed Zoe under the arm and lead them back to her table, she basically shoved Zoe into seat and sat back down in hers. 'She reminds me of Janice from friends.' Was the only thought that ran through Zoes head, she looked a bit like her, sounded a bit like her and definitely dressed like her, even the hair was the same and the make-up was worse, Zoe let out a painful sigh, she knew this was a bad idea, she could already tell they were not going to have anything in common.
"You are rude." She said, Zoe looked at her, confused
"Why-
"Are you not going to ask your date what her name is?"
"Oh, I was going to-
"But?" Zoe bit her lips together. This woman is making her ears burn.
"You kept interrupting me…what is-
"I don't interrupt! My name is Becky! Becky Randol. I know you are Zoe card ell." Zoe stared at Becky; she didn't seem to like Becky, and she had just met her.
"It's Cardwell, not card ell-
"Honey, don't correct me!"
"I was just-
As if someone could see Zoe was in pain from being here for not even 5 minutes, a waiter came up to them.
"Have you guys ordered and are just waiting?" He asked with a kind smile.
"No-
"I was going to order, but she was late! I was nice and waited! Can't you just take our order?" He and Zoe looked at her, confused. Everyone knows you order and wait, no get helped and wait.
"I am sorry but I can't-
"How rude. Chole-
"My name is-
"Wonna go somewhere else?" Becky asked her, she was ready to leave just because she wasn't getting helped, 'she wanted something plain? This is plain.' Zoe was getting upset and confused, this chick was a mess. The waiter gave Zoe a sorry look and walked away, Zoe wasn't going to sit here longer or go anywhere with Becky, this date ended faster than it started.
"No." Zoe said plainly
"No?" Becky asked
"No. I don't want to be around you any longer," Zoe stood up quickly, she was going to kill Addy, "You are…not my type and I am sorry but you have to learn it is rude to interrupt someone when they are trying to-
"I don't-
"YOU DID IT AGAIN!" Zoe was angry now, but she didn't mean to shout, causing everyone to look at them. Becky was silent and Zoe was ready to burst. She looked around as everyone was staring at her.
Then back to the rudest person she has ever met, "And my name is ZOE CARDWELL! NOT CHOLE CARD ELL!" then stormed off.
She didn't even say goodbye to Becky before she was already out the door of Shake Shack and running to get a cab to Addison's apartment.
