Chapter 30 - Chapter 29: Conclusion

Chapter 29: Conclusion

Buzz—

The golden sword, several dozen meters long, slashed downward with overwhelming momentum. Invisible shockwaves surged forth, cleaving everything in its path. Even the rising dust on the ground split apart, revealing the earth—and revealing Yao Yan's figure.

At this moment, Yao Yan stood upright. His clothes were in tatters, his bronze-colored body covered in wounds. Many parts of his flesh had been cut open by Razor Gold Feathers, leaving him in a miserable state.

But his aura showed no signs of weakening. Instead, it burned fiercer, like a roaring furnace. The immense vitality and surging blood energy within him continued to pour out, rapidly healing his injuries at a speed visible to the naked eye—and strengthening those areas in the process.

Some of the recovered parts even began to emit a faint silvery glow—that was the sign of stepping into the second level of the Indestructible Vajra Body.

However, Yao Yan had no time to grasp these changes. He looked up at the massive golden sword descending from the sky. The pressure was like the weight of heaven and earth itself, pinning him in place, making it impossible to dodge. And yet, he felt no fear—on the contrary, he had the illusion that he could block it.

Come on... Yao Yan growled in his heart. He raised his fist and swung upward—still a simple, unembellished punch, but the force behind it was far greater than before. The air before him condensed into a solid air cannon that shot upward and collided with the golden sword.

Boom!

A violent explosion erupted as the two forces collided. The terrifying shockwaves swept out like a storm, briefly halting the sword's descent.

Mu Xiao's pupil contracted when he saw this. Madness flickered in his sole eye. He poured all of his Dou Qi into the golden sword, causing it to grow even larger and heavier. This slash was now an all-out, life-or-death attack.

"I'm no damn whetstone!"

He was a Dou Huang!

It was one thing to bow his head to a mysterious Dou Zong-level powerhouse—but there was no way he couldn't take down a brat!

He had been a genius once too!

He had his own pride!

With Mu Xiao's full power unleashed, the golden sword became even more terrifying. It instantly tore through the air cannon Yao Yan had formed and came crashing down.

Yao Yan threw out several more punches, but the air cannons could only slow the sword's descent—they couldn't stop it. Clearly, against a desperate three-star Dou Huang, his current strength was still lacking. Seeing that he couldn't block the attack, he could only cross his arms to brace for impact.

As for dodging—it was far too late. The sword's attack range was too wide.

Clang!

There was no sensation of flesh being sliced—only the sound of two solid forces clashing, like clashing metal. Then a deafening blast echoed as the ground within hundreds of meters caved in. Yao Yan was slammed into the earth.

His arms were instantly torn open, exposing bone. But when the sword made contact, it triggered another force within him—the originally white bone turned a faint jade color, radiating an aura of immortality.

This came from the Saint-level blood essence he had first consumed from the Yao Clan.

Even though the massive energy had been refined by Hun Xuzi, leaving behind only the purest Dou Di bloodline power, a Saint was still a Saint. The immortal essence had been there all along. As Yao Yan refined it into his body, it had caused an unfathomable transformation.

That was the real reason Hun Xuzi had dared to pass down a high Earth-Tier body-refining technique—because Yao Yan's foundation could withstand it.

Without this foundation...

How could Hun Xuzi possibly let Yao Yan casually devour bloodlines from multiple Dou Di clans?

"Impossible!"

Mu Xiao had no idea how abnormal Yao Yan's body had become. He only knew that his attack had been blocked. He couldn't even sever the youth's arms! His expression twisted in disbelief. Madness surged in his one eye—and he detonated the golden sword.

The explosive force engulfed everything in the area. For several miles, not a single blade of grass remained. The dense forest had turned into a barren wasteland.

Gasping for air from the excessive Dou Qi consumption, Mu Xiao kept his eye locked on the site of impact.

As the dust settled, it revealed only a desolate crater.

Yao Yan's figure had vanished.

Victory... Did I win?

Mu Xiao swallowed hard, his heart pounding. He instinctively looked up toward the mysterious powerhouse in the sky—only for his face to freeze in horror.

That brat he had just fought now stood "completely unscathed" beside the mysterious figure, chatting calmly with him.

The next moment, Yao Nong raised his hand and grasped the air in Mu Xiao's direction—no words, only indifference.

Mu Xiao felt no pain. His consciousness simply vanished. His body turned into a cloud of blood mist. No bones remained. Even his soul was obliterated. The only thing left behind was a shimmering silver mid-grade storage ring—naturally, it became Yao Yan's trophy, along with the rings of the other mercenaries.

Yao Yan looked at the blood mist with a trace of regret. Mu Xiao had been strong—had that final blow landed, it might have severely wounded him if not outright killed him.

His bones might have withstood it—but the rest of his body likely would not.

That was why Yao Nong had intervened.

Yao Yan was in a stage of rapid growth. A serious injury now could hinder his path forward and even damage his foundational potential—far too costly. As for life-and-death tempering—he would have plenty of that in the future.

Yao Yan could only accept it with a sigh. He had to admit Yao Nong was right.

As for Mu Xiao… well, sorry, but he had broken his word~

In this fantasy world, trust didn't mean much to Yao Yan. If Mu Xiao actually believed him, it only meant he wasn't mature enough.

Mu Xiao: …

Ling'er better not have run off… Yao Yan looked down at the ruined forest with some anxiety. If Ling'er had fled, there'd be no way to find her. With the unique nature of the Flame of Living Beings, if she truly wanted to hide, not even a Dou Saint could catch her—unless the entire Shennong Mountain Range was incinerated.

Thankfully, his worry was unnecessary.

As soon as Yao Nong returned him to the ground, a small green blur shot toward him. In a few leaps, she landed in Yao Yan's arms, her big furry ears twitching as her bright green eyes studied him—checking to see if he was still whole. In her mouth was the now-empty bottle of herbal essence. The lid was missing.

Clearly, the medicinal pills were all gone.

Worried no one would feed her if I died, huh... Yao Yan couldn't help but feel she meant exactly that. He rubbed her little head and chuckled, "Don't worry, I'm not dying anytime soon."

Ling'er tilted her head up and nuzzled against him affectionately, then curled up on his shoulder, lazily wagging her fluffy fox tail. Her sparkling eyes glanced at Yao Nong in the sky, clearly curious about where he had been hiding earlier.

Yao Yan removed the bottle from her mouth and stored it in his ring.

Then, under Yao Nong's gaze, he walked off into the distance.

Yao Nong's figure faded with the rippling of space and vanished from the sky.
