ETHAN'S POV
In the study of my Silverpine Pack mansion, overlooking the rugged New South Wales coast, I paced like a caged wolf.
The salty tang of the ocean breeze slipped through the opened window, but it did nothing to cool the fire raging inside me.
The phone pressed hard against my ear, my free hand clenched into a fist.
"You still haven't tracked her? What's the point of my scouts if they can't sniff out one rogue?" I snarled into the line, my voice bouncing off the timber walls lined with old pack maps.
"Alpha, we picked up her scent at a cab stand near the highway... but it vanished into the bus lines after that," the scout's voice shook as a pup's first howl.
"I don't give a damn about trails! I need Riley's location now!" I roared, slamming my palm on the heavy oak desk.
The impact rattled the silver inkwell, spilling a drop like blood.
"We're hunting every house and border, Alpha, but... she's gone like a g-ghost," he stammered, fear thick in his tone.
