Ava bit her lips as they approached slowly to where she stood.
Her heart ached. She felt like a prison inmate, waiting for judgement to be passed.
"Miss Ava!" Dr Lian, called out excitedly as though he had some good news for her.
"Anthonio's on the phone. He'd like to speak with you."
Ava lowered her head. Her freedom just ended, and a new phase of life, was about to begin. She had to brace it. Anthonio had done his part, and it was only fair she accepts his terms, and stick to it—without resentments.
Dr Lian placed his phone on a table close to Ava, and set it in video mode so she feels comfortable talking with him.
Ava sat.
She straightened up, and set her mouth in a thin line. She narrowed her eyes, intently, and observed he looked like he was in a hospital.
"Are you ok, Anthonio?" Her eyes still perked cautiously at where he lay, robed in the hospital gown he wore.
"A minor injury." He said flatly. "I am well now."
