Morning came too early.
Or maybe I just hadn't really slept.
I stared at the blue glow hovering above the campfire ashes. Same screen, same mocking question, same reminder that none of this was "just a game."
I inhaled deeply. "Alright, fine," I muttered. "If you want answers, you'll get answers."
Kael looked up from sharpening his daggers. "Talking to the system again?"
I shot him a glare. "No. Talking to myself."
Zeref chuckled while stirring something in a pot. "That's not any better, you know."
I ignored him and stood, brushing off the grass. "Okay, here's the deal. The only way to figure this out is to move forward. So, story quest it is."
Kael raised a brow. "You sure you're up for that?"
"Do I look like I have a choice?" I snapped, then sighed. "If the world wants me to play along, I'll play. Until I understand what the hell it wants."
Zeref grinned. "Now that's the spirit I like. Fatalistic and mildly unhinged."
"Thanks, that's comforting," I said flatly.
