Chapter Twenty-Four: Jersey, Cheers, and Flustered Hearts

(Lyra's POV)

I tugged nervously at the oversized jersey, Evan's name printed proudly across the back. The fabric hung loose on me, sleeves almost covering my hands. I could feel my heart racing before I even got to the stadium.

"Sol..." Evan's voice behind me made me jump. He smirked, golden hair catching the sunlight. "You're wearing my jersey?"

I blushed, fidgeting with the hem. "Uh... yeah... thought it'd be fun..."

He stepped closer, eyes darkening in that teasing, possessive way. "You know you're mine, right?"

I froze. "Evan... stop saying that!Or I will punch you!"

"Never," he whispered, smirk tugging at his lips.

Soraya and Saphira immediately started their teasing assault as we entered the stands.

"Ooooh, look at her! My little Sol, supporting her golden boy!" Saphira said, practically shrieking.

"Evan is so lucky!" Soraya added. "You're trying way too hard, Sol!"

I groaned, hiding behind my hands, wishing I could disappear into the bleachers.

Then came the moment I didn't expect. A girl from the opposing team's cheer squad sauntered by, flashing Evan a bright smile. She leaned just a little too close, laughter ringing, and my stomach sank.

Evan noticed immediately. Golden eyes snapping toward me, narrowing just slightly. "Sol..."

I bit my lip, cheeks burning. "I... I'm fine..."

He smirked possessively, brushing a stray strand of hair from my face. "You're mine. Don't even think about her."

I froze, heart hammering. Flustered, heated, and slightly jealous, I muttered, "I... okay..."

The game began, and I cheered like crazy, waving pom-poms and yelling Evan's name. Every time he glanced at me, smirk tugging at his lips, I melted.

"Evan..." I whispered when he ran past, jersey clinging to his broad shoulders.

"You're ridiculous," he said, leaning close in a brief break between plays. "And I love it."

I groaned, flustered, hiding my face in my hands.

Soraya and Saphira weren't done.

"Ooooh, Sol, don't melt! Look at him smirk!"

"Do it! Run to him and tackle him already!"

"You're blushing so hard, it's adorable!"

I groaned again, cheeks practically on fire.

By the end of the game, Evan's team had won. He jogged over to the stands, golden eyes sweeping over me. "I saw you cheering. You were amazing."

I smiled, heart fluttering. "I... I just... wanted to-"

He interrupted with a soft, teasing smirk. "You're mine, remember?"

I buried my face in my hands, whispering, "Evan... impossible."

He leaned down, golden hair brushing mine, voice soft. "And you love me."

I groaned again, and somewhere, deep down, I realized... maybe I did.
