The moment we entered the home, he placed those polythene bags on the table and said, "You should change yourself and freshen up." Then I looked back at him and said, "You should change yourself too then."
"Okay, you too," he said, and went to the washroom to change himself.
But the curious me was definitely not going to leave this at any cost, and the curiosity in me made me open that polythene bag to see what was inside it. The moment I looked inside, I saw that there were sanitary napkins of many brands. Indeed, my Yuan Yuan is so cute—then I just remembered, oh no, I won't call him cute anymore.
Then the other things inside that polythene bag were my favourite chocolate choco chip cookies, and then a packet of loaf muffins was also there, and my favourite pancake mix was also right there inside it. There were some snacks too, and my favourite chilli noodles—he brought that too. How can someone be this much caring? How can—how can someone really be like this? I asked this question to myself.
He knows that I won't eat any of them unless my cheat day comes, but still he brought all these things, which really shows how deeply thoughtful he is, I said to myself while getting extremely overwhelmed after seeing these things for me. And the most important thing is that he knows I don't like chocolates that much, so he didn't even bring them, which shows me how much my choices really matter to him.
Then, when I was just lost in wondering how someone could be this much perfection, he came back from the washroom after freshening up and asked me, "So, did you peek well inside the polythene bags?"
I got shocked hearing his voice and turned around to look at him. The moment I looked at him, he got the complete view of the polythene placed on the table and said, "So the little rabbit not only peeked inside the polythene bags, it really jumped inside them and saw everything, isn't it?"
I smiled and stood up from there, as I was sitting on the floor while checking the bags.
"Be careful, be careful," he said to me.
I smiled and said, "So you have just recreated your video moment which went viral on Weibo from your recent Thailand event and made everyone go mad over your English accent."
"Oh, it's really not like that," he said while blushing. And as I always know, whenever he tries to hide his blushing, his ears betray him—and again, they did. Then I looked somewhere else so that he would be able to control his blushing and not feel awkward around me because of me.
"You should go fast and change yourself," he said, but this time not only out of care—there was a hidden motive behind it. The hidden motive was that the sooner I got inside the washroom, the sooner he would feel less awkward and be able to stop his blushing.
So for him, I did what he said and walked towards the bathroom. While going there, I patted his shoulder with my hand and said, "Don't need to think too much. I'll take longer inside the washroom, and that time is enough for you to control your blushing hormones."
Then he looked at me and said, "You silly girl," while trying to catch me. I was pretty fast—I ran away from there and entered the washroom successfully without getting caught by him. Before closing the door, I said, "Don't you know, Yuan?"
"What?" he asked.
"That little bunny rabbit is not easy to catch," I said, and then closed the door immediately.
Then a voice came from the living room—and of course, it was him replying to my teasing: "And didn't you know that whatever Xu Yuan wants to catch, sooner or later it gets caught by him only?"
Indeed, he is a real C-drama hero, saying dialogues on his own to me—but I liked it.
Then I freshened up and changed my clothes, and after an hour I came out of the washroom. What I saw was him sitting at the dining table after making supper for both of us, waiting for me.
"You are pretty fast," I said while sitting on the chair in front of him.
"You are pretty late," he replied.
Then we both started eating dinner. He poured fresh fish soup and congee into my bowl and said, "It's good for you."
I smiled, started sipping the soup, and said, "Indeed, whatever my Yuan makes is good for my health. But tomorrow I want to eat curry rice."
"Okay, whatever my girl says, Chef Xu Yuan will do that," he said.
Then he finished his food way before me, but he didn't say anything. He just quietly sat there and waited for me to finish, because I didn't say it—but he noticed it. He noticed that I eat slowly, very slowly, so he didn't ask me to rush. He just waited for me—just waited for me. So much, my Yuan coded.
Then finally, after eating for almost thirty minutes more than him, I completed my dinner, and he still waited for me in the same position, crossing his arms, calm and composed.
I wondered, how could he even—how could anyone have this much patience? Even I don't have this much patience. So how does he have it?
Then he took my bowl and chopsticks and went to the kitchen. I immediately stood up and followed him.
He turned slightly and asked, "What?"
"Please don't wash my utensils. I'll do it myself—you don't need to," I said.
"Didn't I wash my utensils?" he asked.
"Of course you did, and I didn't interfere in that. So I also have the right to expect you to behave the same way," I replied.
A curved smile appeared on his face. "Okay then, let's do it in a way."
"What way?" I asked, a bit shocked—because I knew his ways are always suspicious.
He smiled. "You are the one who asked for it, so now take it."
Then I realized—it's my mistake.
He said, "Of course Zhao Shiza only."
I got shocked—how did he know what I was thinking?
"That learning is called psychology," he answered while washing a dish.
"Yuan… are you really able to read minds?" I asked.
"I can only read what's going on in my silly girl's mind," he said.
"But still, how can you be that accurate?"
"You don't believe me?"
"I do," I said.
"Then it's because I know you after spending months with you."
"Oh…" I said.
"And you are also pretty easy to guess."
My eyes widened. "Am I?"
He ignored me and continued washing.
"Yuan, I'm asking something."
"And I'm doing something," he replied.
Then he came closer, lifted me, and made me sit on the kitchen slab.
"Am I some doll to you?" I said.
"Yes," he smiled, "a cute little fragile porcelain doll."
My heart fluttered again.
He said, "Stay a little longer here."
"Accompany me," he added.
"Okay," I said.
Later, I splashed water on him. He came closer, smirked, and said, "So the little bunny wants to play games?"
He splashed water back—gently.
"Tomorrow I'll wash the dishes," I said.
"Okay, Miss Zhao."
Then I ran away to the room, blushing.
He stood there and said softly, "You silly girl… you'll make me crazy one day."
Inside the room, I lay down, trying to sleep—but all the moments replayed in my mind.
"He won't let me sleep tonight," I smiled.
No matter how heavy the day was, he made everything feel light.
He is my distraction. My comfort.
Only my Yuan.
And slowly… I drifted into sleep.
