Darkness crept in as the sun disappeared below the horizon. Omari was standing in an alleyway, his eyes glowing green with intensity.
"The Rising Sky Academy....I'll rob it clean. This is where my journey begins."
He jumped into the air and landed on the wall, his brown skin increasing his cover in the night. His locs fluttered back and forth in the wind as he put his senses on high alert.
He leaped into the air and landed inside the academy, instantly dashing forward, being as quiet as possible. The academy had two long buildings. The one in the front was for juniors and the one in the back was for seniors. On the sides were two more tall buildings with multiple floors used by instructors, and those buildings also had storerooms.
Omari was in the back of the academy and made his way to the back long building for seniors.Inside was nothing much. Only a few four classrooms with small short desks on the floor and mats for students to sit on.
After checking all four classrooms,he used his enhanced eyesight to look through the five classrooms in the long building up front. After he was done, he made his way to the building on the sides.
He heard guards talking and quickly came to a halt. They were heading in his direction. His grip tightened on the dagger, every breath slow and deliberate, as footsteps grew louder. He jumped up, landing on the roof and stayed still.
After the guards had passed through,Omari made his way to the first side building he chose, the one on the right from the gate.
He placed his blade between the small spaces on the window and forced the window open. His eyes scanned the first floor of the tall building. His eyes widened, seeing the many books the academy had.
He made his way into the building and slowly closed the window.
"Okay....there are a lot of books in here.I'll take the ones I need, then find where they stash the spirit stones."
Without wasting time,he started looking through the books, looking for the ones that could help him.
Enter the World of Beasts. He threw the book into his pouch. The Beginning of Immortal Cultivation. He threw it into his pouch. Immortal Herbs, Basics of Formations, Master Qi Control, Basics to Divine Doctrine.
His eyes ran across the drawers, each book title shocking him more and more.
"Greed is a poison, boy. Tonight it ends here," a voice echoed behind Omari. He instantly froze, many thoughts running in his mind.
"What do I do,run! But just his voice was enough to make me stand still, frozen."
Omari clenched his blade,eyes glowing.
"What is this?"he gritted his teeth.
"Is this....how can I be afraid again?First that damn beast and now this?"
Behind him,the cultivator stood tall, his short black hair framing a face marked by a trimmed beard that gave him a steady, resolute air. A deep blue robe draped over his shoulders, its fabric shifting like ripples of water with each movement. His dark eyes calm yet sharp, as if nothing in his surroundings could escape his notice.
Omari jumped forward, landing on the wall, and sprang off the walls at incredible speed, heading straight for the cultivator who spoke. He launched himself like a projectile, dagger aimed for the heart.
The cultivator's eyes instantly widened in shock.
"This child,so much killing intent at such a young age."
He felt an overwhelming intent to kill emanating from Omari,as if trying to devour him.
He quickly raised his palm, wrapping his spiritual energy around Omari, and with a quick wave of his hand, he slammed Omari into a bookshelf. The impact rattled the entire structure.
Groaning his way up,Omari wiped a trickle of blood from his lip.
Before Omari could do anything, the cultivator's spiritual energy wrapped around him again, keeping him still in a standing position.
"This child, how did he accumulate so much murderous intent at such a young age....I feel like I was facing a cultivator of the same level as mine," the man thought.
He released his spiritual hold on Omari.
"Young man, what are your intentions?" the man's gaze became serious.
"Are you looking down on my Rising Sky Academy?"
Omari looked down, his gaze going from side to side, thinking of ways to escape his predicament. Fighting was suicide. Flight was impossible. His only weapon was his tongue. He let his dagger clatter to the floor then fist to palm, he bowed.
"Forgive my disrespect...I had to come see for myself. I heard the Rising Sky Academy houses great teachers. I needed to test the rumors. Your power... It is the real proof I was seeking," Omari spoke.
"I would like to learn from you, please be my teacher."
A small smile crept up on the man's face;even though he knew that the child was lying, "This child is so mature; most people of his age would've started crying and begging for their lives, even offering themselves as slaves," he thought.
"This child has too much killing intent, but with guidance he could control it and bring more glory to the Academy. He has the potential to achieve great things. Let's hope he doesn't become a knife that stabs its maker."
The man cleared his throat and his robe emitted a faint glow of superiority.
"Young man, meeting here is destiny; I will give you the opportunity to study under my guidance at the Rising Sky Academy."
A faint blue glow appeared in his eyes.
"If you ever betray your benefactor...."the man paused and released a wave of his spiritual energy, pushing Omari a few steps back.
"I'll make sure you rest here forever, forgotten by time and the world."
Omari put his left fist into his palm,"Teacher, this student will respect and never betray," he assured, bowing down to his new teacher.
The man in front of Omari then introduced himself as the principal of the Academy,Fang Lei.
Omari quickly moved forward,"Teacher, I am Omari Siwang."
Teacher Fang raised an eyebrow,"Si Wang (to die or Death)? What a....unique name for a child."
"Teacher knows what my name means?I only know what the first name means, Omari—high born or highest," Omari spoke.
Fang Lei turned to face the other way,"Highest death, with that killing intent.....hmm," he thought.
"Your last name means death,to die," the teacher uttered.
Omari looked down;a bit of sadness washed over him and quickly vanished, replaced by immense anger. "He truly wanted me to die, father....I hope we never meet again," he spoke underneath his breath.
Fang heard this and chose to ignore it.He cleared his throat, "Now return what you stole before your low-level spatial pouch explodes."
Omari quickly snapped out of his daze and reached his hand into the spatial pouch.Teacher Fang quickly turned around, "Don't...."
He was about to stop Omari from placing his hand into the pouch, but Omari had already pulled out a few books.
Haaaa!
Teacher Fang sighed deeply,"Student, never place your hand into a spatial pouch; you're lucky yours is only a low-level pouch."
He took a deep breath and continued,
"You could've lost your hand or gotten sucked in and died...with your level of strength, you shouldn't be using a spatial pouch."
Omari froze for a bit, remembering all the times he had shoved his hand into the pouch. He quickly bowed down, "Thank you, teacher, for your guidance."
"Quickly fix the mess you made and follow me,"Teacher Fang spoke.
A few minutes later,Omari was done cleaning and followed the principal to the other building on the side of the long buildings.
A few minutes later they were at the top floor,in the principal's residence, sitting on soft mats with a small table between them. The room was huge and with different antiques on the walls: swords, daggers, refining pots, and many more.
The spiritual energy was way better than outside, and there was one room with strong spiritual energy leaking from under the door. At first, Omari was almost suffocating from the strong spiritual energy, but in time he got a bit used to it.
"Teacher, how were you able to detect me? I was cautious with every movement I took," Omari asked.
Fang Lei took a sip of his wine.
"The academy has formations all around. They may be low-tier, but they can easily detect anything, and with my spiritual sense, I saw you the moment you jumped over the wall."
Omari let out a soft laugh,"I have so much to learn from the cultivation world," he thought.
Teacher Fang raised his cup of wine and took a few whiffs of it before downing the whole cup.He poured another one.
"So you're from the mortal world."
Omari froze, wondering how he got found out.
"Teacher,how did you find out?"
Fang smiled,"How can someone from this world not know anything about using a spatial pouch?"
Ohh!!Omari replied.
Fang continued,"How did a mortal from a world where most people don't believe in cultivation start cultivating and find his way here?"
Omari's heart skipped a beat, racing as he tried to calm himself down. "This man's cultivation is higher than mine, which means his senses are sharper. I'll have to give him the truth sprinkled with lies," Omari's mind raced.
"I met a cultivator who was injured in the woods after running away from home.I helped him, and he granted me the gift of immortal cultivation."
Teacher Fang took a deep breath,"Never mind. The cultivation world is a dangerous world; you have to be smart and decisive with your actions. I'm letting you learn at this academy as my student, but you still have to pay the academy fees, 50 spirit stones."
