Chapter 1 - Chapter 1- The New assistants

The morning sun penetrated through the tall glass windows of ColeTech Corporation, bathing the sleek marble floors in warm, golden light. The building itself stood as a monument of ambition.

Inside, the CEO's office was the kind of space that demanded silence and respect. Every inch reflected Adrian Cole's obsession with order ,the smooth desk polished to perfection, the minimalist art hanging on the wall, and the faint, expensive scent of leather and cedarwood that lingered in the air. Even the shadows seemed to obey him.

Adrian sat behind his massive desk, his attention fixed on a digital report glowing on the screen before him. His dark eyes scanned through the quarterly figures, his jaw tightening slightly at the margins that could've been better. Every percentage, every decimal mattered. He wasn't the kind of man who tolerated inefficiency — not from himself, not from anyone.

A soft knock interrupted the quiet hum of the office.

"Come in," he said without looking up.

The HR manager stepped inside, composed but slightly nervous, as most employees were around Adrian. "Sir, the new executive assistants are here."

Adrian looked up. His eyes, narrowed slightly. "Assistants? I thought we were hiring one."

"Yes, sir," the manager said quickly, "but after the final round, you approved both. They'll be working under your direct supervision."

Adrian leaned back in his chair, "Alright send them in."

The door opened wider, and two women entered —,moving with the kind of grace that made time slow down. They were identical twins, yet somehow completely different in the way they carried themselves. Their resemblance was captivating ,the same striking hazel eyes, the same soft waves of chestnut hair cascading over their shoulders, and the same honey-toned skin.

But while one exuded calm intelligence, the other carried a quiet fire that was impossible to ignore.

"Good morning, Mr. Cole," the first twin said, her voice smooth and composed. "I'm Lila Blackwood . It's an honor to meet you."

Her twin followed a beat later. "And I'm Luna Blackwood ,"she said, a faint smile tugging at her lips. Her tone was softer.

Adrian rose from his seat, his imposing frame drawing their attention. "Lila. Luna."He repeated their names like testing them on his tongue. "Identical twins. Interesting."

"Yes, sir,"Lila replied politely. "We've worked together before. We complement each other's strengths."

"Hmm."His gaze lingered on them, not in admiration, but in assessment. He had the look of a man used to reading people — to finding what made them tick, and what made them weak.

"I expect perfection,"Adrian said at last, his tone cool but firm. "ColeTech doesn't condone mistakes."

"Of course,"Lila said, her voice steady. "You won't get any from us."

Luna smiled faintly, her eyes glinting with something unreadable. "We understand, sir."

For a moment, Adrian studied them in silence ,something in Luna's expression, a quiet confidence that boarded on challenge, caught his attention. But he said nothing more. Instead, he gestured toward the HR manager. "Show them around."

As the twins stepped out, the door shut softly behind them, leaving Adrian alone again with his thoughts.

He didn't usually hire people based on instinct — he was too rational for that — but there was something about those two. Something magnetic. He couldn't quite place it.

The tour began on the twelfth floor — the nerve center of ColeTech. The air buzzed with efficiency ,keyboards clacking, phones ringing, and quiet conversations about projects worth millions.

"This is the operations wing,"the HR manager explained as they walked. "You'll be working hand in hand with the CEO and department heads, managing his schedule, replying emails, calls, travel plans. Everything that crosses his desk will likely go through you first."

Lila nodded attentively, already memorizing routes and faces. She moved with purpose, her gaze soft but alert. Everything about her radiated control.

Luna, on the other hand, seemed only half-present. Her eyes wandered — tracing the architecture, the security cameras, the patterns of movement. But behind that detached curiosity, her mind was a storm.

Her plan had already begun the moment she stepped into the building. Every step, every smile, every word she spoke was calculated.

The man who had unknowingly destroyed her family's peace ,the man who had once stood over her father's trembling hands with the same calm arrogance he wore today ,was now just a few doors away. Adrian Cole.

And soon, he would pay.

Luna's expression didn't change, but deep inside, her pulse quickened.

Still, she kept her voice light as the HR manager continued talking.

"Mr. Cole is demanding but fair. Once you understand him well as a person, you'll find he appreciates efficiency and loyalty."

Luna smiled. "I can be very loyal."

Lila glanced at her, noticing that familiar spark ,the one that scared her sometimes. They were in this together, but there were lines Lila wasn't sure she wanted to cross. Revenge was Luna's fire, not hers. She only followed to protect her sister, to keep her from drowning in hate.

Yet deep down, Lila feared she was already too late.

By the end of the day, the office was quieter. The glow of the sunset bled through the windows, painting everything in soft orange.Adrian's door remained closed, and most employees had gone home.

The twins lingered by their new desks — side by side, right outside the CEO's office. Lila was reviewing files, memorizing company details, while Luna scrolled through the internal database with curious fingers.

"Don't start anything yet,"Lila murmured without looking up. "We just got here."

"I'm not starting anything," Luna replied, though the smirk that touched her lips said otherwise. "I'm just simply observing."

"Observing has always been your excuse."

Luna turned to her sister, her expression softening.

"Lila, you don't have to worry. I'm not stupid. I won't do anything reckless I promise ."

"That's what you said the last time," Lila whispered.

For a heartbeat, silence stretched between them ,the kind that brought old memories neither of them wanted to revisit.

Luna finally looked away. "He ruined everything we had," she said quietly. "You can forgive if you want. I can't."

Lila sighed, her fingers tightening on the papers in her hands. She didn't reply. Because deep down, a small part of her didn't want to forgive either.

Inside his office, Adrian leaned back in his chair, his eyes drifting toward the faint reflection of the twins through the glass wall. He wasn't usually one to notice his assistants beyond their efficiency , but something about those two stirred a strange curiosity in him.

The calm one ,Lila, reminded him of logic and order. Reliable. Predictable.

But the other… Luna. She had a presence he couldn't quite define. There was a shadow that drew him in and warned him away at the same time.

He closed the file on his desk and exhaled quietly. "Interesting indeed," he muttered.

By the time the building lights dimmed and the last of the staff exited, Luna stood by the window, staring at the city lights. Her reflection stared back — beautiful, unreadable, dangerous.

"This place will never see it coming," she whispered to herself.

Behind her, Lila gathered her bag, watching her sister silently.

"Ready?" she asked softly.

Luna turned, her lips curving into a slow, secret smile. "Always."

As they walked out together, their heels clicking in unison against the marble floor, no one in ColeTech , not even Adrian Cole himself , knew that the company had just welcomed not one, but two storms disguised as angels.

And one of them had come to destroy everything.
