Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Love Rewritten

Six months later, the city looked different ,brighter somehow. Or maybe it was just how Lila saw it now.

The chaos that once filled ColeTech had been replaced by calm efficiency. The tension that once followed Adrian everywhere had softened into something steadier. And for the first time in a long while, there was laughter in the halls again.

Lila stood in front of her office window, coffee in hand, watching the early morning sun rise over the skyline. Her reflection in the glass showed a woman who had changed. She wasn't the timid assistant who'd once flinched at every argument between her boss and her sister. She was stronger now — grounded, sure of who she was and where she was going.

The door opened quietly behind her.

"Good morning, COO Blackwood,"Adrian said with a smile, walking in with his own coffee.

She turned, grinning. "You still sound surprised every time you say that."

He chuckled. "Old habits die hard."

They shared an easy silence, one that didn't need filling. So much had changed between them, yet everything about this — the quiet mornings, the shared glances — felt natural.

Adrian leaned against her desk, watching her. "Board meeting in an hour. Are you ready to impress them again?"

"Always," she said.

He smiled. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

Lila tilted her head, pretending to think. "Hmmm ,hire another assistant?"

He laughed quietly, shaking his head. "Never again."

Their eyes met, and for a second, the world outside didn't matter. They didn't need to say it ,the affection was there, Adrian leaned in pressing his lips against Lila's. Lila pulled out "I….I…I have to prepare for the meeting" she said running off with her lpad without waiting for Adrian's response. Adrian smiled softly. The kiss was short but passionate. He enjoyed it and he knew Lila did too.

After the meeting, Lila found herself scrolling through her emails when a message caught her eye.

Subject: Thought you'd want to see this.

The sender's name made her heart skip.

Luna.

She clicked it open. Inside was a photo ,Luna standing in front of a small building with a painted sign that read The Second Start Foundation. She was smiling, hair tied back, eyes bright with peace. Beneath it, just one line:

We're officially open. Wish you were here for the launch.

Lila smiled softly, her chest tightening in that familiar, tender way. She hit reply.

I'm proud of you. Always was.

She stared at the words for a moment before pressing send.

For a long time, she'd carried the weight of her sister's mistakes like her own. But now, she understood that love didn't mean holding on to someone's pain. It meant letting them heal , even if it was far away.

That evening, ColeTech hosted its first annual charity gala since the scandal — a night meant to celebrate not power or profit, but growth and new beginnings.

The ballroom glowed with soft gold lights. Guests mingled with wine glasses in hand, laughter mingling with the low hum of music. Lila arrived in a simple navy gown, elegant without trying too hard. Adrian, in a classic black suit, met her halfway across the room.

"You look beautiful,"he said.

She smiled. "You say that every time I wear a dress." She said trying to avoid the topic of the kiss by not looking into his eyes .

"And every time, I mean it."

They moved through the room together, greeting guests, shaking hands. But even among hundreds of people, they seemed to orbit around each other — every glance, every shared smile, quietly intimate.

When the speeches began, Adrian took the stage. His voice was steady, deep, filled with quiet pride.

"Six months ago, this company faced the hardest test in its history," he began. "We lost trust, we lost direction — but we never lost hope. And we wouldn't be standing here tonight if not for the people who chose to stay and rebuild."

His eyes found Lila in the crowd. "This isn't just a story about business. It's a story about second chances — about finding light again after the dark."

Applause followed, but Lila barely heard it. Her heart swelled with quiet pride.

When he stepped off the stage, he joined her at their table. She leaned in slightly. "You really know how to make people cry."

He grinned. "Did it work on you?"

"Maybe a little,"she admitted, laughing softly.

Later that night, when most guests had left, they stepped outside for some air. The sky was clear, the city lights reflecting off the river nearby.

"It's strange,"Lila said quietly. "A year ago, I didn't even know what I wanted. Now everything feels… right."

Adrian looked at her, his expression soft. "You made it right."

She shook her head. "We did."

They stood side by side, watching the water shimmer.

" got a message from Luna today,"she said after a while.

Adrian smiled faintly. "How is she?

"She opened a foundation,"Lila said proudly. "Helping women start over."

"That sounds like her," he said. "Always turning chaos into purpose."

Lila laughed softly. "Yeah. I think she finally found peace."

He reached for her hand. "And what about you?"

She squeezed his fingers gently. "I think I did too."

They stood there quietly, their hands intertwined, the world soft around them. No grand gestures. No need for promises. Just two people who had survived everything and were still choosing each other — not out of need, but out of love. Adrian couldn't resist himself from locking lips with Lila ,Lila didn't pull back this time, she knew she couldn't even if she wanted to. Adrian was uncontrollable at this point he carried Lila on his arm into the room he had booked for his preparation before the party started.

He dropped her on the bed. " you are so pretty" he said. Before Lila could respond he went in for a kiss again this time wet with so much passion and desire. He kissed her going down to her neck she couldn't help but let out a slight moan "ahh"

"Fuck" Adrain said looking for her zipper. He knew he wanted it so badly. He pulled down her dress then sucked her nipples ,she couldn't help but moan .Adrian played with Lila before finally penetrating her ,he knew how to handle a woman . Lila's loud feminine moan and Adrian masculine moan filled the air, they both wanted it .

The next morning, Lila woke up to a massive cake, a diamond ring and a letter that says:

"Will you be by girlfriend " she smiled

She put on the ring then took a pic sent it to Adrian with a caption YES!!!

A week later, Lila received a small brown envelope in the mail. No return address, just her name written in Luna's familiar handwriting.

Inside was a photo — the twins as children, grinning in the backyard with ice cream dripping down their hands. On the back, Luna had written:

We can't change the past, but we can rewrite the ending.

Lila traced the words with her thumb, smiling through tears. She placed the photo on her desk beside a framed picture of her and Adrian at the gala.

Her life wasn't perfect — but it was honest. It was hers.

That evening, as the office emptied and the city lights flickered on, Lila sat by the window, watching the reflection of her own world — one built not from revenge or ambition, but from healing.

Adrian appeared at the door, tie loosened, smile easy. "Ready to go home?"

She turned, smiling. Yes babe

He walked over, leaning beside her. "Thinking about me ?"

"Always," she said softly. "About how far we've come."

He slipped his arm around her waist, pulling her gently closer. "Then maybe we should stop thinking for a bit."

She laughed quietly, leaning into him. Outside, rain began to fall — soft and slow, the same way it had the night everything ended and began again.

"Funny," she murmured. "It always rains when something changes."

"Then maybe it's a good sign," he said.

They stood there for a long moment, the sound of rain steady against the glass. And in that quiet, Lila realized something simple —,this wasn't the ending she'd imagined when it all began. It was better.

Because the story wasn't about vengeance anymore. It was about survival, forgiveness, and the kind of love that rebuilds what's been broken.

And somewhere far away, Luna looked out her own window at the same rain, smiling faintly. For the first time, both sisters were finally free , not from their past, but from the need to keep reliving it.

Love, after all, wasn't perfect. But it was enough.
