The World Mechanic
A low-level magic world governed by an invisible system.
Every sentient being possesses a Status Screen, which displays:
Stats
Skills
Classes
The screen records truth, but does not explain it.
Skills
Skills are the foundation of all power.
Ranks:
White Rank
Black Iron Rank
Bronze Rank
Silver Rank
Gold Rank
Divine Rank
Skills are learned through practice, inheritance, or insight, and advancing them requires time and understanding.
Classes
A Class is an extraordinary inheritance formed when skills resonate with each other and align with the world.
Classes are not chosen—they are granted.
To obtain a class:
Master one skill to Black Iron Rank
Advance at least two additional skills to Black Iron Rank
Attempt a resonance fusion
If the skills are compatible, they combine into a class.
If they are not, the attempt fails and the time spent is lost.
Core Law: Non-Universal Compatibility
Not all skills can combine.
Some skills are incompatible
Some combinations fail despite meeting requirements
Compatibility is not fully understood
Because of this:
Mastering more skills does not guarantee success—it increases risk.
Class Complexity
Classes vary based on the number of fused skills:
3 Skills → Stable, fast growth, easier to advance
4–5 Skills → More versatile, slower growth
6+ Skills → Highly complex, extremely slow, difficult to master
More skills mean:
Greater versatility
Higher lifespan cost
Lower efficiency and harder progression
There is no perfect class—only trade-offs.
Lifespan as Cost
Time is the price of power.
Every action consumes lifespan:
Learning and advancing skills
Attempting class fusion
Stabilizing and developing classes
Lifespan limits:
Mortal → up to 100 years
Apprentice → up to 150 years
Professional → up to 300 years
Master → up to 500 years
Lord → up to 800 years
King → up to 1200 years
Sage → 2000 to 10000 years
Divinity → Immortal
These are maximum limits, not guarantees.
Reckless choices shorten life.
Careful choices extend effective growth.
Growth Reality
More skills require more time
Most combinations fail
Complex classes take longer to cultivate
So:
Greedy path → many skills, high failure rate, wasted lifespan
Focused path → fewer skills, higher success, stable growth
Rank System
Power is primarily determined by class:
Mortal → White Rank Skills
Apprentice → Black Iron Skill
Professional → Black Iron Class
Master → Bronze Class
Lord → Silver Class
King → Gold Class
Sage → Multiple Gold Classes or Divine Skills
Divinity → Divine Class
World Truth
There is no perfect class
There is no guaranteed path
There is no reward without cost
Classes are not created—they are discovered.
Final Principle
Strength is not determined by how much one learns,
but by how wisely one spends their lifespan.
