Chapter 58: An Easy Victory
Unlike Gyarados, which had immediately and wantonly displayed its overwhelming power upon appearing, Beedrill's aura was completely internalized. It was reserved, showing nothing of its strength... until the moment it struck. Only then could one feel its true power.

As the red light faded, a bipedal crocodile, deep red in color and covered in black stripes, appeared on the field. It exuded a natural, thuggish aura. The moment it appeared, it glared fiercely at Beedrill and let out a terrifying roar.
"GKHAAA!!—"

Potential: A+
Krookodile, the Intimidation Pokémon. Its nature was coarse and brutal, earning it the name "Bully of the Sands."
When Kenji saw this Krookodile's status panel, he couldn't help but exclaim, "Holy..." Its level was an astonishing 46, and its ability was its Hidden Ability, Anger Point.
It looked like this Krookodile was Yuki's true ace.
It also confirmed his guess: Yuki was a trainer specializing in Dark-types. No wonder she had so decisively chosen Larvitar.
After all, of the three available pseudo-legendaries, only Larvitar's final evolution, Tyranitar, possessed the Dark typing.
But with Kenji here today, she was fated to be disappointed.
The Bug type had a very narrow range of effectiveness.

Huge Power... plus a 2x super-effective multiplier... plus a Same-Type Attack Bonus... plus a three-stage Attack boost.
Forget everything else—in game terms, a single Twineedle would be enough to put this Krookodile six feet under.
Just as Kenji was about to order Beedrill to attack, Yuki on the other side suddenly moved.
She inexplicably raised her hand and slowly closed her eyes.
At the same time, Krookodile also closed its eyes, and a faint, dark aura began to rise from its body.
This scene immediately piqued Kenji's curiosity.
"Beedrill, now! X-Scissor!!"

However, by this point, the Bug-type energy on Beedrill's stingers had been almost completely spent. Krookodile, crossing its arms, managed to block the remnants of the X-Scissor, which now held less than a tenth of its original power.
And from start to finish, Yuki's eyes remained closed. She had not looked at the battlefield once.
"GKHAAA!!—"
Without receiving a command from Yuki, Krookodile acted as if in an autonomous battle, slamming both hands hard onto the ground.
The next instant, a dense wave of Rock-type energy poured from its claws into the field.
"BOOM!!—"
Sharp, pointed stones suddenly erupted from the ground. They hovered in the air, and with Krookodile's silent command, they all turned and shot straight at Beedrill.
"Dodge it!"
To Beedrill, which had already used Agility, the speed of this Stone Edge was simply too slow.
It dodged left and right, weaving through the barrage. The dense volley of stones flew past it, but not a single one made contact.
"Fell Stinger!"
Having dodged the attack, Beedrill charged Krookodile once more. Terrifying Bug-type energy instantly gathered on its long stingers as it lunged.
In response, Krookodile's three-fingered claws tensed, gathering a dense Dragon-type energy.
Dragon Claw!!
"BOOM!!!—"
The instant the Dragon Claw made contact with Beedrill's Fell Stinger, the Dragon-type energy covering it shattered.
Once again, Krookodile was sent flying by Beedrill's overwhelming strike.
Krookodile was thrown backward, crashing heavily.
Yuki finally opened her eyes, her small face turning deathly pale.
That last Fell Stinger, if calculated in game terms, would have put Krookodile's HP so far into the negative it would have owed Beedrill a whole new health bar.
But just when Kenji thought the match was over, Krookodile actually wobbled back to its feet, though the dark aura around it had vanished.
Seriously?!
Just as Kenji was about to order Beedrill to land the finishing blow, Yuki raised her Ultra Ball and recalled Krookodile, even though it was technically still standing.
"The Larvitar is yours."
Yuki wasn't a sore loser. Her tone remained flat, betraying no hint of joy or sorrow.
The match was decided, and the three of them left the battlefield.
On the way out, Ayumi was still pestering Kenji, insisting he leave his Beedrill behind for her to "study." She finally looked dejected after his firm refusal.
"Huh? Yuki, you're going the wrong way," Ayumi called out, watching Yuki turn to leave. "That's the exit. The room with the Pokémon is this way."
