Dr. Fang looked smug. Kenji glanced at the red button and asked casually, "What does this button do?"
Dr. Fang sneered. "Why don't you press it and find out?"
Kenji actually reached out, as if intending to press the button.
But just as his finger was about to touch it, he stopped. He withdrew his hand, turned around without looking back, and walked away.
"Ninetales, hit them with Hypnosis."
"Mo..."
Ninetales complied instantly, sending a wave of psychic energy at the two men.
Under the influence of the Hypnosis, Dr. Fang and the Executive grew drowsy. Within seconds, they collapsed to the floor with a thump, snoring loudly.
"Beedrill, String Shot."
Beedrill spat out incredibly tough silk, binding the two unconscious men securely.
Seeing them tied up like dumplings, Kenji felt safe enough to leave them on the floor. He led Ninetales and Beedrill toward the laboratory exit.
But before he could push the door open, a chaotic rush of footsteps echoed from the corridor outside.
Sensing something, Ninetales reacted instantly. Using Teleport, it warped Kenji ten meters backward.
The moment Kenji vanished from his spot, the door exploded inward with a BANG!
Before Kenji could see who it was, a man's voice shouted.
"Freeze!! Hands in the air!!"
The voice sounded familiar. Kenji looked toward the door. The intruder was none other than Cao Fu.
Cao Fu held a gun, and in front of him stood an Arcanine and a Bastiodon.
The Steel-type Bastiodon acted as a shield, protecting its trainer with its massive defensive bulk.
It was Bastiodon that had smashed the door open.
If Ninetales hadn't teleported Kenji away, he might have been sent flying along with the door.
"Kenji??"
Cao Fu, fully armed and tense, froze in confusion when he saw the scene inside the lab.
First, he saw Kenji standing not far away with his hands raised. Then, glancing further, he saw the scientist and the Team Rocket Executive tied up like mummies, leaving only their heads exposed.
"How did you get here?" Cao Fu asked.
Kenji kept it brief, explaining the situation.
Cao Fu nodded. "Thanks to you. The underground escape tunnels in this base are complex and numerous. If they had managed to slip into the tunnels before we breached the perimeter, they might have actually escaped."
Cao Fu was being honest.
Kenji asked briefly about the situation outside.
With Hua Mingyan leading the charge, the operation was going relatively smoothly. However, Team Rocket wasn't pushovers, especially on their home turf. Even with a Champion-level trainer leading the raid, casualties were unavoidable.
This was the heat of the operation; there was no time for idle chat.
Kenji joined Cao Fu in the sweep.
With Kenji's assistance, the clearing operation progressed at rocket speed.
Kenji, Cao Fu, and Hua Mingyan led teams to sweep the interior, while others sealed off all exits, executing a classic "catch the turtle in the jar" strategy.
As one of the most powerful leagues on the planet, the Huaxia League's military and prosecutors were elite.
When they struck, they struck hard, wiping out a major Team Rocket base that even the Myanmar League feared to touch.
As the sweep continued, more and more Team Rocket members hiding in the base were dragged out.
"Stoutland! Sniff!!"
A Stoutland lowered its body, sniffing the air and growling.
Target confirmed. Stoutland leaped aside, and the Bastiodon behind it charged at a steel door.

Bastiodon's massive face slammed into the metal door, warping it violently and knocking it off its hinges.

Kenji, however, was less prepared. Caught off guard by the stench, he gagged, nearly vomiting.
But when he looked past Bastiodon's bulk and saw what lay beyond the door, his face—already twisted from the smell—went pale.
Behind the door was a prison.
Rows of reinforced alloy cells divided the large room.
Inside those cells were Pokémon. No, crowds of Pokémon.
Dozens of Pokémon were crammed brutally into single cells.
Some were covered in scars; others were emaciated skeletons.
Even those without visible injuries had eyes filled with terror at their unknown fate.
BANG!!! —
The moment the door opened, Beedrill rushed in, effortlessly subduing the few Team Rocket guards in the room.
Kenji and Cao Fu walked into the prison area. The Pokémon in the cages looked at them with fear, and beneath that fear lay deep resentment.
Cao Fu patted the Arcanine beside him. "Tell them not to be afraid. We're here to help them leave."
Arcanine nodded slightly, then raised its head and let out a gentle howl.
Perhaps due to Arcanine's Justified ability (or simply its noble aura), some of the fear in the Pokémon's eyes began to fade, replaced by a flicker of hope.
Of course, most of them still eyed Kenji and Cao Fu with wariness and suspicion.
Especially those covered in scars, clearly victims of Team Rocket's abuse. They had lost all trust in humans.
Once bitten by a snake, one fears a rope for ten years.
