Chapter 292: Final Preparations
Beedrill, Gyarados, Arbok, Bellossom, Ninetales, Slaking, Electivire, Annihilape, Serperior, and Darkrai...
Counting them all, Kenji now had ten partners by his side. The only one missing was Tyranitar.
However, Kenji had already sent word to High Priest Qi Yanqun, who confirmed that Tyranitar would be escorted back from the temple within the next two days.
During the recent intensive training period, Servine had also reached its final stage, evolving into the majestic Serperior.
As the only "pure" Shiny Pokémon on Kenji's team, its evolution was a sight to behold. Beyond the sheer power boost, Kenji was most impressed by its aesthetic transformation.
Unlike the somewhat awkward and lanky Servine, Serperior had completely shed its limbs, its body becoming longer and more elegant. True to its classification as the "Regal Pokémon," its head was always held high, its blood-red eyes calm and bottomless. It possessed an aura of cold, aristocratic arrogance, looking down on the world like a monarch seated upon a high throne.
Its back was a much deeper shade of forest green than the rest of its species, and the pale green of its belly had shifted to a vibrant teal. Two curling, leaf-like vines extended from its neck like the high collar and cuffs of a royal tuxedo, lined with a pale, creamy yellow.
The patterns covering its body were intricate and regal, resembling the gold embroidery on a monarch's ceremonial dress.
Two days later, as Kenji conducted the final checks before the tournament, Tyranitar was finally transferred back.

Upon their reunion, Kenji noticed Tyranitar had grown even larger. It stood two or three meters taller than when they had last said goodbye.
The moment it returned, Kenji immediately upgraded its gear, swapping its standard items for the Radiant Titan's Resolve set.
During its time at the Tyranitar Temple, its level had surged. While it hadn't yet broken into the Elite tier (Level 70+), it was at the absolute peak of the Gym Leader level. Kenji knew it would likely breakthrough during its first match in the tournament.
Looking up at the literal mountain of muscle and stone, Kenji saw new scars—some deep, some shallow—crisscrossing its iron-like hide. Clearly, its time training under the King of Tyranitars had been brutal.
Watching his Pokémon interact, a thought suddenly struck Kenji.
He wanted one more "family photo."
The last time they had taken one was during the New Year. Back then, Tyranitar was still a Pupitar. Electivire was just an Electabuzz. Serperior, Annihilape, and Darkrai hadn't even joined the team yet.
Only six months had passed, but his family had grown, and his original partners had evolved into legends.
Now, with the Huaxia League Conference looming, Kenji wanted to capture this moment.
The city was out of the question; Tyranitar was simply too big. Instead, Kenji headed to the wilderness outside Metropolis. After a brief search, he found the perfect spot—a vast clearing with a stunning backdrop.
Then came the task of positioning everyone.
After some trial and error, the massive Tyranitar naturally took the center-back position. To save some height, it sat cross-legged, its thick tail coiling around its feet. Kenji had temporarily removed its items so it wouldn't tower too much over the others.
With the giant as the anchor, Slaking reclined lazily in the front-left, while Gyarados coiled its serpentine body on the front-right.
With the big three settled, the others were easier to place.
Kenji, the trainer, took the "C-position," sitting cross-legged on the grass directly between Slaking and Gyarados.
Beedrill hovered gracefully just above Kenji's head to the side.
Arbok and Serperior flanked him on the left and right. Both were incredibly attached to Kenji, and there was a bit of silent competition as they both tried to coil as close to him as possible.
Darkrai floated in mid-air, level with Tyranitar's shoulder.
On the other side, Annihilape was also "hovering," though not by choice. Ninetales was using her psychic powers to keep the rowdy ghost suspended in the air to ensure he stayed quiet for the photo.
Ninetales herself had transformed into her human form, sitting playfully on Slaking's broad shoulder, swinging her legs back and forth.
Finally, Electivire stood in front of Gyarados, holding the tiny Bellossom high up in its massive hands.

A flash of light from the camera captured the scene.
Kenji looked at the developed photo with a wide, satisfied grin.
"Listen up, everyone!! I hope our next group photo isn't on a field like this... but together, in the Huaxia League Hall of Fame!!"
